View Full Version : Cro Cop, Rampage, Silva and the rest!
treelo 06-06-2003, 04:52 PM Right, i dont very often post on any MMA message baords after being hoarded off a few or just realising that people there dont want any sort of discussion just a chance to speak **** to people!
I thought id post a few opinions of mine on the current fight scene and see what people thought from this site, which whenever i visit doesnt seem to be half as bad as others(you know who i mean)
First off, Silva v Rampage
Silva while not being legit beaten for a few years(Cro Cop anyone if the rules were K1) has faced very inferior oposittion apart from a smaller and intimidated Sakuraba who since has shown us exactly how much he has declined. The man obviously has top class striking skills but its just a shame we dont get to see him put to the test.
Rampage, hes been fighting some of the best fighters Pride have to offer since entering the scene and bar his loss to Sak(which was his first figth on the big stage) has shown himself to be one of the top LHW fighters in the world. How this man hasnt had a title shot before now bemuses me and must be purely down to polotics and/or marketing aibility. Surely Rampage must be as marketable as Silve in Japan?
Cro Cop
While he excels at striking, wee never seen this man fight anyone even near his level or weight in a competetive MMA match, sure he can blow Sapp out in K1 fights(correct me if im wrong) and can hold Silva when ground work isnt permitted but how does he fare against people his own size in a MMA match, i want to see him fight Herring, Vov or barnett before i decide how good an MMA fighter he is, he can strike, but lets see him stuck on the floor for 5 minutes getting his face slapped a bit..great fighter nonetheless
Royce
someone tell this man to stop, i cant remember the last fight he won, i used to admire this man but everytime he seems to fight he goes down in estimation all the time due to the after fight scenes
Sapp
Why does everyone hate this man. hes brought a lot of entertainment to what was otherwise a slowly starting to get boring sport, he may not be the gretaets at any discipline but he wins, after all.thats what counts, and i find it fun when hes just jumping on people half his size :lol1:
UFC
What exactly is going on there, with Ortiz out and Liddel having to fight everyone in the top 20 of each division the situation is getting close to Rampage/Pride, give him a shot, he is the most consitstent fighter out there...Ortiz is a confident fighter and has fought some good opponents recently and i cant see why this fight isnt happeneind
sorry..rant over
if i think of any more ill be back
thanks for listenin

Mr. Beelzebub 06-06-2003, 05:07 PM Well, I have followed W. Silva for a while now and even though you're right about him not facing stiff competition recently he has evolved a lot since his days in Brazil. His stand up skills are as sharp as they can be at this point in his career. I think he is gonna beat Rampage, probably by TKO.
I completely agree with your comments regarding Cro Cop and Sapp. I need to see him fight Herring before I can say anything about Mirko. And Sapp...well, he is entertaining...It's gonna be interesting to see him develop his skills, like Nogueira said "It's just a matter of time before this man becomes invinsible"
About Royce...I personally like the man a lot and justthe same way I feel about Saku, I want to see them on the winning side again.
realkaps 06-06-2003, 05:11 PM Good post...

Rampage is highly marketable but Pride dont want to push him for some reason. He has said in many interviews that Pride treats him like ****. What more do they want from him, he had a good fight with Sak, destroyed Igor and Randleman. As for Silva, I think he is overrated. Fighting smaller opponents or no name tomato cans.....

I am still not on the Cro Cop bandwagon. I pretty much agree with this post....

The Gracie denial. I think its time for Royce to retire from MMA....

I dont hate Sapp. I would like to see him fight someone closer to his size. Tom Erickson comes to mind. He has somthing like a 20 fight deal with K-1 and the Japanese are making him a rich man...

I couldnt agree more. Chuck has been waiting for his shot for 2 years already. Tito's next fight should be against Chuck, if its not then I will no longer be a Tito fan.....
Prince 06-06-2003, 08:32 PM tito apparently has agreed to fight the winner of chuck and randy.
i'd rather see tito vs randy any day than chuck, although chuck does deserve a shot. i'll be a fan of tito regardless.
pride used to market rampage as a homeless street thug.

IMO opinion Rampage will take him quick. Silva has fought low-calibur, no name japanese fighters. When he did step up to the higher calibur fighters, he lost. Rampage on the other hand has had a little bit of both worlds and seems to be growing more and mroe as a fighter.

Miiiiiiirko baby. He is tha shiiiit. I agree to some extent, treelo, but IMO, there needs to be some more worthy fighters in his class to step up against him. He is proving to be too dominant in his own class.

Sapp rox the house. He is prolly hated for the same reasons Shaquille O'Niel from the LA Lakers are hated. He seems to have some freakish ability given at birth to be able to monster over people. I think the more Sapp keeps winning but allows himself to get beat by smaller guys, the more he will be enjoyed.

Ortiz is trippin IMO with this whole fighting thing. Liddell, well, he is still the #1 LHW contender in my eyes. I think he still needs to fight Tito. Liddell is one of the most consistant fighters out there and i think thats why he is so highly respected.
