This list is more like peoples favourite tracks, most of these are not deserving enough to be top 100....

Yeah, i confused this thread with the "Hip Hop songs You Must Hear" thread when i included my entries.

Yeah.. I probably could have worded the title of the thread a bit better. I just thought it was clear, but I could have done a better job with that.

Wait a minute that was the right thread, o.k.

Yeah, I guess "Greatest rap songs" would have been the best way to put it.

Yeah, I DID put the "that you SHOULD hear" implying that if you're only gonna hear 100 songs, and none else, for the average music fan. But, my bad.. Easy come, easy go.

Not a bad list. As far as the 'greatest rap songs' is concerned, i would say less then half of the tracks listed deserve to be there.

As '100 songs you must hear', i think that at least half of the list is credible, but a lot of the tracks seem to be personal favourites rather then tracks that will blow the listener away.

A farce if you ask me. Juicy is on the list twice, Biggie doesn't feature until 28 and Jay Z doesn't feature until 32.

I really like Nas' What Goes Around but no way would I have it at number 1. It has an awesome line in it though...

"The Chinamen built the rail roads, the indians saved the pilgrims, so in return the pilgrims killed 'em, you call it thanks giving, I call your holiday hell day, 'cos i'm from poverty, neglected by the wealthy."

Juicy is ****. Overrated and over played.

Not even close to being in Biggie's top 10 tracks IMO.

it was as significant a hip hop song as any of that era.....especially on the east........it bought the East back!

Yeah but it's ten times better than VH1's Greatest.
