View Full Version : Premiership the dominant league?
Addition 03-07-2008, 02:38 PM Last year we had 3 english teams that reached the semi-final stage which was an amazing feat and it seems the dominance of the english teams has continued into this campaign.
With 3 english teams already in the Champions League quater-finals, which could likely be 4 when Liverpool go through, that's more than any other league. La Liga (Barcelona), Bundesliga (Schalke), Turkey (Fenerbache), Serie A (Roma).
So, is the Premiership the best league?
Savino 03-07-2008, 03:32 PM You have a good point and I would probaly agree with you. I think the prem is also the most exciting to watch and the league is getting tougher each year now.
yeah guys prem the best league and the most dominant of late however not the most technical la liga has some serious ability in every team but **** mentalility

Aility the players have in La Liga is amazing but they have alot more time on the ball to show their abilty.
col Blake 03-07-2008, 05:24 PM heart ****ing bleads try being a Toon supporter
Yep definitely in recent years the premier league has become the most dominant IMO, and with great young, exciting players like torres, rooney, ronaldo, walcott etc it wil only attract more fans and big names

The premiership > all other leagues.

You tell him Hoffer.
Honestly though top to bottom it is close. It depends what the criteria are. EPL has four consistently outstanding clubs. Just this week though a few of the other teams lost in Europe.

The champions league is the only one that counts though. The uefa doesn't really mean much nowadays.
War For 94 03-07-2008, 07:22 PM So, is the Premiership the best league?
This question keeps popping up and each time it really gets on my ****ing tits.
So we have 3 English teams through to the 1/4 finals. So? What has that got to do with the rest of the Premiership? Where's the correlation between the CL & the Premiership in terms of whether our league is the greatest? :ugh:
The Premiership is in fact a pile of **** outside of Arsenal, Man Utd, Spurs, and a couple others. Those teams I've named are known for playing football the way its meant to be played.
Would you pay to watch Wigan vs Bolton? Fulham vs Reading? Boro vs Blackburn? I know I ****ing wouldn't. Long ball, long ball, long ball.
Why do we watch football? To be entertained. Therefore I come to the conclusion La Liga is the best league in the world. You'll rarely see long ball tactics used as the primary way of getting the ball in the back of the net.
HOWEVER, if you were to ask me 'between the top 4 of the Premiership, the top 4 of Serie A, and the top 4 of La Liga, who has the strongest?' I would have to say the Premiership has the strongest top 4, but for me, that isn't what makes a league the greatest in the world.
I've read that ^^^ back and it comes across as really aggressive, lol. It's not meant in that way, it's just I hear muppets such as Mark Lawrenson, Andy Gray, Alan Hansen, Jamie Redknapp, Richard Keys etc etc bang on about this and it pisses me off because they're talking out their arse's.

I agree that the Premiership lacks substance throughout. There are no more then 5-6 teams that i get excited to watch, where as La Liga showcases the beautiful game in how its meant to be played throughout the league.
1. La Liga
2. Premiership
3. Serie A
4. Bundesliga - Not a bad league. I've seen some exciting games from Germany.
