View Full Version : Tito trinidad is soft.
triggerhappy 10-27-2004, 08:54 AM Little Mayorga was right in his face and staggered Trinidad a number of times , Trinidad has the same weak chin he had before ... How many times has he been decked in his career ?
Ricardo Mayorga exposed him , Mayorga stuck his chin right out there and it took ages for Felix to stop him .
Trinidad isnt as good as you all think , he seems to have adapted to the weight ... but a weak chin is a weak
jabsRstiff 10-27-2004, 08:58 AM "Tito trinidad is soft. "
Triggerhappy is a jealous idiot.
jack_the_rippuh 10-27-2004, 09:27 AM I kind of agree with him. Let's not forgot that Mayorga wasn't a real middleweight and he was stunning trinidad. Trinidad's style exposes him to alot of punches a rematch with Bernard Hopkins will take a way any gained respect Trinidad earned from his fight with Mayorga. All it takes is one right hand from Hopkins to send Tito to the canvas...
PRboxingfan 10-27-2004, 09:40 AM Hopkins, first of all, doesn't have one-punch KO power. Now, Mayorga had never, let me repeat, NEVER, seen the canvas in his life and Tito put him down not once, not twice, but three times IN ONE ROUND. If that's what you call soft then I'd hate to see whom you consider to be hard.
As for being exposed, I think you're nuts. The only people who've 'exposed' him are DLH and Hopkins, the latter just following the blueprint left by the former. Tito has problems with movement, yes, but so do all boxers. I think Tito adapts better the next time, just like he did against a very good pure boxer known in boxing circles as 'Sweet Pea.'
jabsRstiff 10-27-2004, 09:46 AM I kind of agree with him. Let's not forgot that Mayorga wasn't a real middleweight and he was stunning trinidad. Jack...
But YOU picked Mayorga to win....How come you didn't know he wasn't a real middle before that ?
Oh, that's right.....you ALWAYS open your mouth without thinking.
mic573 10-27-2004, 09:50 AM How do you figure one right hand from Hopkins would put Tito on the canvas? It took Hopkins many shots and about 11 1/2 rounds to put Tito down and he still got up before ten. Trinidad will more than likely lose in a rematch to Hopkins but his chin is quite sturdy at 160. The only times Mayorga really shook Tito was in the early rounds when Tito didn't have his legs under him.
Great 10-27-2004, 09:51 AM It is visible - you each other respect.:)
Great 10-27-2004, 09:58 AM Though to me Tito imposes, but is compelled to recognize, that he unidirectional fighter. He never will win at Hop. Though their second match I shall look with interest.
jack_the_rippuh 10-27-2004, 10:19 AM I didn't really think Mayorga would win. I was just bull****ting....DUH!!!!!!!!
Anyway...I'm not saying Hopkins has one-punch KO power against anyone, but he sure as hell has one-punch KO power against Tito..
Tito deserves no credit for beating Whitaker at the time he beat him. The guy was a washed up cocaine-addict at the time..
jabsRstiff 10-27-2004, 10:22 AM Whitaker deserves no credit for beating Buddy McGirt, or Julio Cesar Chavez.
Buddy was a ONE-ARMED fighter....& Pea couldn't stop him....& even got dropped with the only hand Buddy could throw.
Chavez was an alcoholic.
anthetamine 10-27-2004, 10:25 AM Tito Is No Softy, But I Do Think That He Has Reached His Level In Middleweight Boxing, If He Was Round At A Different Time To Hopkins He Would Probably Be Known As One Of The All Time Greats But Hopkins Has Prooved Otherwise, And Will Again If They Are To Meet A Second Time
jack_the_rippuh 10-27-2004, 10:27 AM Didn't he beat Buddy McGirt twice, though?
As far as your complaint for the Julio Cesar Chavez fight, I guess the judges took that into consideration since they basically gave him the draw...
jabsRstiff 10-27-2004, 10:27 AM jack....
You, like I, think Hopkins is one of the best MIDDLEWEIGHTS in history, right ?
So.....how much can you criticize Trinidad for not being able to beat him ?
jabsRstiff 10-27-2004, 10:28 AM Didn't he beat Buddy McGirt twice, though?
As far as your complaint for the Julio Cesar Chavez fight, I guess the judges took that into consideration since they basically gave him the draw...
Yeah...he beat Buddy twice....in two suck-job fights.
Nah....the judges in Chavez-Whitaker were drunk themselves !
jack_the_rippuh 10-27-2004, 10:32 AM jack....
You, like I, think Hopkins is one of the best MIDDLEWEIGHTS in history, right ?
So.....how much can you criticize Trinidad for not being able to beat him ?
I simply think Tito is overrated, not just overrated, but a cheater who team Hopkins exposed..
jabsRstiff 10-27-2004, 10:37 AM Only a boxing-moron believes that handwrap thing.
Do you know who Nazeem Richardson is ?
Well, he's one of Hop's chief handlers....& he came out in the Philadelphia Daily News a few weeks after the fight & admitted that the handwraps thing was a PLOY....& that wrapping your hands will NOT give you KO power.
He's a former fighter, & trainer (his son is Olympian Rock Allen)....& I guess we should believe you, a dope, over him ?
Get lost.
Explosivo 10-27-2004, 10:37 AM **** this wasnt a true middle wieght bla blah blah bull****. Mayo and Tito are the SAME SIZE! Yea, Titos real soft. A guy who KOed Vernon Forrests ass with huge punches hits Tito with many a clean shot and he never goes down, just looses his balance. Then Tito knocks the man who has never been knocked down before THREE TIMES, and thoroughly beats his ass. Yea hater, Tito's real soft.
Explosivo 10-27-2004, 10:38 AM I simply think Tito is overrated, not just overrated, but a cheater who team Hopkins exposed..
And you also think Tyson is going to come back and clean out the Hw division. :D
jabsRstiff 10-27-2004, 10:39 AM Jack is just an emotional child who can't handle that Trinidad beat Whitaker.
mic573 10-27-2004, 10:40 AM Team Hopkins exposed nothing because there is no proof that anything illegal happened that night. Even before the Mayorga fight the NYSAC asked Trinidad Sr. to demonstrate how he wraps Tito's hands and they approved it.
mic573 10-27-2004, 10:43 AM Only a boxing-moron believes that handwrap thing.

Even Bouie Fischer was asked about the wraps and he said that it wasn't true.
jabsRstiff 10-27-2004, 10:46 AM You know someone is an idiot when you put facts right in their face, & they still believe what they want to believe.
I pray nimrods like Jack don't ever get picked to be on a jury.
jack_the_rippuh 10-27-2004, 10:49 AM First off...I don't think the insults are neccessary. Second off...off the name isn't Jack, it's James.......James Bond......Jr.
jack_the_rippuh 10-27-2004, 10:57 AM Tito is overrated. He has a ****ty chin, he has ****ty movement, he's one-dimensional and the only reason why he gets so much recognition is because he's the only person of his race who has such a winning record..meaning he's the only thing Puerto Rico has going for itself...(I know Cotto is Puerto Rican too, but he's in a deep division.)
jabsRstiff 10-27-2004, 11:02 AM That's another ridiculous post.
You act as if he's beaten no one.
You call him one-dimensional...yet, cite "he has such a winning record".
Do you realize....he won his first championship in '93....& now, 11+ years later....he's still a FORCE in the sport ?
How can you not give him credit ?
jack_the_rippuh 10-27-2004, 11:09 AM You know what. I don't even want Hopkins to go so low and fight him again. He already proved Tito isn't even within a mile of his talent. I want Winky Wright to move up from junior middle and kick Tito's ass. you can read the interview from maxboxing.com where Winky says that's what he plans to do after he kicks Mosley's ass again. Anywho, you can be one-dimensional and still have a winning record, but to me a great fighter can do some of everything great (like Tommy Hearns). Oh yeah, and no way in hell would he have beaten a prime, in shape Whitaker...no way in hell...I think Whitaker might have even been able to stop him even though he isn't a big puncher..
jack, you sound like someones little brother. i'm a little brother, so it's all too familiar how you speak. i remember just to get on my older brothers nerves, ofcourse i was like 11, i'd say stupid **** and then when he'd pull my card w/ facts, i'd say real cool stuff like, my names not kev, its james .... james bond. he'd just call me obnoxious and then leave.
we should all call you "lil' bro" from now on
jabsRstiff 10-27-2004, 11:15 AM jack...
You say a great fighter should be able to do a variety of things.
Yet, you like Whitaker & Floyd...two guys who CANNOT punch.
I think Whitaker is one of the greatest of all time. But, I don't like the fact that he couldn't stop busters like Poli Diaz, Jorge Paez, Wilfredo Rivera.
I don't LIKE that....but I'm not foolish enough to have it tarnish what Pea accomplished.
As for "prime" Whitaker...
Do your homework... At 147, Pea could not possibly be in his prime..so it's a moot point.
He was still excellent at 147, but his prime was before that.
syn0879 10-27-2004, 11:16 AM I don't think Tito is soft, I do think he is a little overrated at middleweight though. I would like to see him fight at welterweight again.
jack_the_rippuh 10-27-2004, 11:18 AM Floyd can't punch? Did you see what he did to Chico?
jabsRstiff 10-27-2004, 11:20 AM Floyd can't punch? Did you see what he did to Chico?
You mean the weight-drained guy who was about to go to jail ?
I'd rather be a washed-up cocaine addict than that....if I was fighting !
jack_the_rippuh 10-27-2004, 11:24 AM Mayweather went in there with something to prove. He dedicated that fight to all the battered women in the world and he really put it on Corrales. Don't hate on Mayweather just because he's one of the best things the game has to offer at the moment.
jabsRstiff 10-27-2004, 11:29 AM I happen to think Mayweather is the second-best fighter in the world, right now....& that with one impressive showing at 140 (not over GATTI, either)...he will take the #1 spot.
See....I don't enjoy Mayweather's fights that much, & I think he acts like a b***** outside the ring. But, I won't let that blind me to his excellence.
Got it ?
P.S. - Mayweather slapped his woman around, too...so, he's a hypocrite.
jack_the_rippuh 10-27-2004, 11:36 AM Back to Tito...
Do you think that when Bernard Hopkins beats him up one more time that he'll stay retired for good or do you think he'll stick around to end his career on a high note. Because you and I both know that Hopkins will beat him again, he just doesn't have what it takes to beat Hopkins.
Oh yeah, and I would also like to say that I don't think his dad is a good trainer at this level...maybe at amateurs, but his dad isn't a good trainer.
jabsRstiff 10-27-2004, 11:41 AM My opinion is that Tito will give Hopkins a better fight than the last, but still lose.
That in itself will be somewhat of a high note.
He should be given a ton of credit if he gives it another go against someone who dominated the way Hopkins did.
His father is excellent at training him...because he knows what his son does best & doesn't try to change things up too much.
But, ss an all around trainer,I think his dad is nothing special.
He's like Floyd Sr.. Floyd Sr. did a great job of training Jr., but has HURT the other fighters he's trained....by trying to get them to do things they can't.
Back to Tito...

lol - reading you **** is hillarious. you're so fuqqin' stupid, hows his dad a bad trainer, his figher has one loss dumb ass.
jack_the_rippuh 10-27-2004, 11:47 AM Trinidad's dad needs to teach him to change things up should he ever want to stand a chance against Hopkins. That's when the great fighters really bring themselves out when the going gets tough and as a trainer who knows his fighter so well his father should have had some type of answer as to how they could turn the fight around. Trinidad didn't have a clue on what to do when Hopkins was dominating his ass, and his dad was of little help. There is no excuse for any champion to get his ass handed to him by another champion the way Felix Trinidad got beat up by Bernard Hopkins. The thing what's so funny is that he says he wants to fight him again, and deep down inside he knows he wants no more..
jabsRstiff 10-27-2004, 11:50 AM "There is no excuse for any champion to get his ass handed to him by another champion the way Felix Trinidad got beat up by Bernard Hopkins."
Like the way Mike Tyson was DESTROYED by Douglas, Holyfield, & Lewis ?
bigdlb12 10-27-2004, 11:52 AM Titos looked good vs a not so good boxer but good puncher. Mayo was a big mismatch, Tito @ 160 looks like he can beat just about anyone DLH,Joppy, maybe Taylor but not Hopkins,B-Hop has good ring smarts and nobody has been able to beat him in 11 years, I was hoping DLH could of done it but the man got cautgh

how do YOU know what he wants deep down inside??? you're not like that w/ him. hey, by your logic then hearns isn't **** cuz he got THOROUGHLY dominated by iran barkley, the same guy who duran beat, and duran years before got his ass handed to him by sugar ray? so what the fuqq are you saying? do you even know? theres no excuse? cuz it never happens and titos the first one to ever have that happen to him .... lol .... you're so stupid lil' bro.
.::|ULTIMATE|::. 10-27-2004, 11:55 AM He is the hardest hitting soft guy i've seen LOL!
Seriously i mean come on Mayorga got hurt and thats why he stuck his chin out, then he got hit got hurt more and more,
Mayorga was basically out on his feet almost everyround of that fight it wasnt even close.
Trinidad is a threat, he might not have the best skills in the world but he has good timing, vicious power, and lots of heart.
jack_the_rippuh 10-27-2004, 11:58 AM Let's get something straight here.
Holyfield cheated in the Tyson fight
Lewis was just too big for this pass prime Tyson..
and Buster loss the fight before Tyson did.
Trust me...I can see it in his eyes. Just like when he first got up from getting knocked down by Hopkins at first he looked confused and then it looked like he was saying to himself, "MOMMY!!! I WANNA GO HOME!!"
jabsRstiff 10-27-2004, 12:01 PM "Let's get something straight here.

lol - keep it coming lil bro ... you're making valid point after valid point, dude.
I suppose Joe Frazier is soft and overrated as well because he got dominated by George Foreman? I suppose Eddie Futch, Frazier's trainer whom many believe to be the best of all-time, is nothing special as well?
Yes, Trinidad's chin isn't Hagler-esque, but his heart more than makes up for it. I believe that Trinidad has risen from the canvas about 5 or 6 times to knockout his opponent...and it's usually the round after he is knocked down, when he really turns up the intensity. Heart can make up for a lot of deficiencies, and Trinidad has it in excess.
No one is saying that Trinidad would beat Hopkins. Simply that he would do a lot better in a rematch. And how could you criticize a fighter for not being able to beat the best middleweight since Marvin Hagler. That's like calling Rodrigo Valez an overrated bum because he couldn't beat Carlos Monzon.
jack_the_rippuh 10-27-2004, 12:14 PM First off you don't come attacking me like this on my thread or on my website. Second off........Loading, Loading, Loading...
BrooklynBomber 10-27-2004, 12:16 PM No way Tito is soft. Yeah he was kd'ed number of times but he got off the canvas and fought. This already can tell you that his chin is not bad. He lost only once. And that was to Hopkins. But so did number of good fighters during last 11 years. I dont like Tito but i am not blind enough not to see what he accomplished. In my opinion he will lose to Hopkins in a rematch and will probably lose to Wright.
First off you don't come attacking me like this on my thread or on my website. Second off........Loading, Loading, Loading...

I make no excusues, for real.

now how is that statement very true? enlighten me w/ your wisdom!
PRboxingfan 10-27-2004, 12:36 PM Tito is overrated. Really? No fighter in PR ever attained that status, eh? Here are a few for you, you can look them up in Boxrec if you'd like:
Wilfredo "Bazooka" Gomez - 44(42)-3-1 Titles at 122-126-130
Wilfred "El Radar" Benitez - 53(31)-8-1 Titles at 140-147-154
Hector "Macho" Camacho - 72(38)-5-2 Titles at 130-135-140-147
Carlos Ortiz - 60(29)7-1 Titles at 135-140
Edwin "El Chapo" Rosario - 47(41)-6 Titles at 135-140
Esteban DeJesus - 57(32)-5 Title at 135
Alfredo Escalera - 53(31)-14-3 Title at 135
Samuel "El Torbellino" Serrano - 57(17)-4-1 Title at 135
Juan "John-John" Molina - 52(33)-7 Title at 130-135
Wilfredo "Pride of PR" Vazquez - 56(41)-9-2 Titles at 122-126
Sixto Escobar 39(19)22-3 Title at 118 (first Puerto Rican world champ in 1934)
Alex "El Nene" Sanchez - 31(21)-4-1 Title at 105
Nelson Dieppa - 21(12)-1-1 Title at 108
Ivan "Iron Boy" Calderon - 20(4)-0 Title at 105
Manny Siaca - 18(16)-4 Title at 168
These are just a few of the celebrated champs, not including Tito or Cotto, that PR has had or currently has. How can you say that he is the only one "of his race" that has such a winning record? You are either ignorant or racist; maybe a bit of both? Who knows.

The night of the fight, Trinidad was 168. Mayorga was 165.
If Tito had a huge size difference, he would've had at least a 10 pound advantage after he rehydrated. Mayorga and Trinidad were the same size. Trinidad was just stronger
