i prefer the old ones but im not sure that the new ones suck but the past era was better than this one.

Stay in the past then. And listen to 1992 hip hop then.

I wouldn't say they suck but the lyrical content nowadays has been recycled so much that it seems stale. The content from the 80's/90's was better than now.

I just don't think they are motivated to make good music. Their fans don't require much from them.

I think 86-95 was THE hip hop era. Too many classics........

Hip Hop aint dead....its just evolved.

Also, there a plenty decent rappers out there, you just have to look.....stay off the commercial crap.

It don't matter what anybody else thinks of your music taste. The 80's was before my time (in terms of listening to music) and it wasn't until the mid 90's when i started to listen to hip hop. Then as you get older you get to appreciate the 'golden era'.

The legacy some of these artists left is amazing in terms of young people like me still listening to their records.
Which of todays new rap artists can you honestly say people will be listening to them in 15-20 years time?

Thats because the 'real' hip hop is too underground to get noticed, while the commercial dudes are likely to be 'flash in the pan'.

You have no idea what ur talking about. I understand you completely in the sense that commercial hip hop is dead but if you take some time to look at the underground artists now adays, there **** is dope. Check out Blu, Torae, Skyzoo, AZ, The Roots. Son you need more knowledge before you speak. Noone knows much about hip hop on here ive learned.

How can you say no-one knows much about hip hop? It all comes down to musical preference. I'm happy with my knowledge on hip hop, and the artists i listen to keep me satisfied.

But, theres a lot more then hip hop out there. My musical taste ranges from Soul to Classic Rock, Metal to RnB etc...

Like i said, its all about musical taste.....and you can't knock anybody else because they don't agree with you.

That's a fair assessment but some of these underground cats like to call themselves underground just because they are unpopular and don't rap over fancy beats, when in actuality there is a reason they are 'underground'...because they suck.

There are an ton of good rappers around right now. 4 of which just off the top of my head have albums dropping within the next couple of months. Cee-lo (Gnarls Barkley's album), Cage, Nas, The Roots.
