View Full Version : Prayer Thread
SonnyG8R 02-25-2008, 11:21 AM This is a thread for believers to come and ask for prayers for themselves or loved ones in need. I believe that prayer is one of the strongest tools we have to make the world a better place. This thread is here in the Adult Lounge so that those who hate religion and want to hi-jack the thread and insult people for their beliefs will not be tolerated. If you don't need or want prayers, or if you simply do not believe in the power of prayer, that is your choice. I will respectfully ask that you kindly ignore this thread.
I would like to start by asking for Prayers for my Step father who has Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) which is a lung disease which makes it hard to breathe.
Thank you.
Jesus taught, "…I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you"
James 5:16-18 declares, "…The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops."

I also prayed for your family as well. It's tough to sit there and watch a loved one suffer.

guzi815 02-25-2008, 08:54 PM Thanks for letting me know there are more decent human beings roaming this Earth. I know that have beared arms for this country, and engaged in warfare on foreign soil with destructive devices...but God knows that is not where my heart is. Though I may wear many medals of bravery on my chest....I ask for forgiveness EVERYDAY! I am not at all regretful, I was, afterall, doing my Job. A Job that "I CHOSE".
I find comfort when I read in the Holy Bible where it says (can't remember the verse or Chapter) "There is a time to cry and a time to Laugh...There is a time for peace, and there is a time for war". I know I am not worthy of entering the Kingdom of God. But I hope that there is a place for warriors. A place where God fearing men and women may lay down thier swords and shields, and enter into eternal life with our creator.
I will pray for you and your family, that they may all be well, especially your step-pops. Life is a constant spiritual battle, that is the life a Christian. Without Jesus as our shield, and the Bible as our sword...we don't stand a chance! Keep the faith brothers and sisters.
My favorite saying.....
"BE GENTLE...YOU WILL NEED NO STRENGTH".
Super_Lightweight 02-25-2008, 11:11 PM This is a good message to have. Anyone else?
Piggu 02-25-2008, 11:17 PM lol Somebody one-stared this thread? That's screwed up. At least respect each others beliefs. I'll give it a 5.....
EDIT: My 5 stars didn't do enough to raise it to an overall 5, but at least it's a higher 4.

Dear Lord, bless Purity and all those who seek
solace in substances;
helplessly hurting their bodies,
trying to feed their souls.
Father, let them see You are the
food they crave.
Envelop them in the warm blanket
of Your eternal love.
God, please keep them safe from the
perils of their actions.
Protect those around them as well.
Give them the strength, O Lord, to see
that it is You they've been searching for.
For there is no void You cannot fill.
And You are always with them.
With You there is no fear, no pain,
no judgment -
And all their sins will be forgiven.
They need only look to Your hopeful
light within them all,
Instead of the demons that beckon.
We pray they know they are always
worthy of Your love,
And can forever bask in Your
Holy Grace. May peace be theirs.

AliKillsTyson 02-27-2008, 11:20 PM I wanted to share something with you all that I thought was interesting.
Did you know that during WWII there was an advisor to Churchill who organized a group of people that dropped what they were doing every day at a prescribed hour for one minute to collectively pray for the safety of England, it's people and peace?
There is now a group of people organizing the same thing here in America. If you would like to participate: Every evening at 9:00 PM Eastern Time (8:00 PM Central) (7:00 PM Mountain) (6:00 PM Pacific), stop whatever you are doing and spend one minute praying for the safety of the United States, our troops, our citizens, and for a return to a Godly nation.
American_Ninja 03-05-2008, 02:04 AM I pray for our childrens future. It's going to be tough. Amen.
beauty 03-05-2008, 11:41 AM I love this thread. It's awesome.
SonnyG8R 03-10-2008, 05:40 PM Saw this around Christmas time and thought it was interesting considering the source.
The following was written by Ben Stein and recited
by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary.
My confession:
I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was
Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit
when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled
trees Christmas trees. I don't feel threatened. I
don't feel discriminated against. That's what they
are: Christmas trees.
It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, "Merry
Christmas" to me. I don't think they are slighting
me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact,
I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers
and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It
doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger
scene on display at a key intersection near my beach
house in Malibu. If people want a crèche, it's just
as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred
yards away.
I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew,
and I don't think Christians like getting pushed
around for being Christians. I think people who
believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed
around, period. I have no idea where the concept
came from that America is an explicitly atheist
country. I can't find it in the Constitution and I
don't like it being shoved down my throat.
Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the
idea come from that we should worship Nick and
Jessica and we aren't allowed to worship God as we
understand Him? I guess that's a sign that I'm
getting old, too. But there are a lot of us who are
wondering where Nick and Jessica came from and where
the America we knew went to.
In light of the many jokes we send to one another
for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not
intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's intended
to get you thinking.
Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early
Show and Jane Clayson asked her "How could God let
something like this happen?" (regarding Katrina)
Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and
insightful response.
She said, "I believe God is deeply saddened by this,
just as we are, but for years we've been telling God
to get out of our schools, to get out of our
government and to get out of our lives. And being
the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed
out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing
and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?"
In light of recent events...terrorists attack,
school shootings, etc. I think it started when
Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body
found recently) complained she didn't want prayer in
our schools, and we said OK.
Then someone said you better not read the Bible in
school. The Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou
shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself.
And we said OK.
Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our
children when they misbehave because their little
personalities would be warped and we might damage
their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed
suicide). We said an expert should know what he's
talking about. And we said OK.
Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no
conscience, why they don't know right from wrong,
and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers,
their classmates, and themselves.
Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough,
we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to
do with "WE REAP WHAT WE SOW."
Funny how simp le it is for people to trash God and
then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny
how we believe what the newspapers say, but question
what the Bible says. Funny how you can send 'jokes'
through e-mail and they spread like wildfire but
when you start sending messages regarding the Lord,
people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd,
crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely
through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is
suppressed in the school and workplace.
Are you laughing?
Funny how when you forward this message, you will
not send it to many on your address list because
you're not sure what they believe, or what they will
think of you for sending it.
Funny how we can be more worried about what other
people think of us than what God thinks of us.
Pass it on if you think it has merit. If not then
just discard it... no one will know you did. But, if
you discard this thoughtprocess, don't sit back and
complain about what bad shape the world is in. My
Best Regards.
Honestly and respectfully,
Ben Stein

The Spiritual bondage I can't get too deep into, but it includes nightmares and strange happenings. The financial bondage is this dark cloud that seems to loom over me, keeping me down financially. Please pray for my deliverence.

Wow that's some serious stuff. It's a little late but know that prayers were sent. Thanks for posting

I think a lot of us can relate to financial woes. As for the spiritual bondage, nothing works like prayer, but you might want to speak to somebody as well. I will certainly keep you in my prayers and thoughts.

That's a good message. We should all try to help out those less fortunate than us. It's easy to get wrapped up in our own problems, but there are those so much worse off than us. Sometimes we forget to be thankful for all we have.

Indeed. And prayers for our military men and women serving overseas...
