Apparently some dude on the FA board wants to enforce a new role; all english teams have to field at least 5 english players.

Good for the national team, but the standard of play will drop a little.

as a villa fan it wont affect us in the slightest as we have a large english/british base of players

arsenal essentially would be screwed as would chelsea at the present minute. I guess its a good idea in principle but cant see it being enforced

haha sweet im a Villan too .. we would not be fussed the slightest and it would bring us even closer to our european dreams cos the top 4 will be droppin their foreign players (who happen to be their best) like flies

I can't see how they can enforce this. Arsenal would be ruined if this came into play.

It wouldn't adversely affect my team (Spurs) to be honest.

I think you should also be limited to buying 3 players every transfer season.

good idea RiZOOM ! i think the 5 english players rule and ur suggestion for only 3 transfers per window would be great and will help english football to redeme its title ENGLISH!

If you think about it our National team will eiether become great or extremely poor and our premiership will become a joke due to lack of ability. Also, what about Europe? I doubt we would want to play the best in Europe with 5 youth products.

Utd should do well as should spurs and villa, but the real losers are Arsenal who have been buying foreign youth for years. :owned:

You get teams like Chelsea who buy a whole new team every window. The lesser clubs miss out on players because the bigger clubs buy them all and bench them all. 3 transfers per window would put a stop to this.

Or, to make it more acceptable only 3 foreign players signed every season, but no limit on English players...hmm.

What about my team, Cardiff City? They are a Welsh team, but because they play in the English league, does that mean they have to field 5 english players?

i reckon with the 5 english players on the startin 11 rule and ur idea for just 3 foreigners max per window but no limit on English players. Id think we'd also have to enforce a rule on how many english players are allowed out of the country, because obviously some key english players are gonna think 'ah this i ****' and would wanna leave. To put a stop to that i think a rule likel; only 3 english players per english league are allowed to leave the country PER SEASON.
