same here but I'm leaning towards silva idk what it is about his style but I like it.
Blair_Wells#32 02-21-2008, 03:34 PM yeah silva's strking is pretty much unmatched at MW, if Henderson is 2 win i think he's goin 2 have 2 do it on the ground, if Travis Lutter can take Anderson down and get Mount i believe Henderson with the better take downs and ground control can get it done as well.
its pretty hard 2 call an i am not betting on this fight either :lol1:
Biggus Dickus 02-21-2008, 04:17 PM yeah silva's strking is pretty much unmatched at MW, if Henderson is 2 win i think he's goin 2 have 2 do it on the ground, if Travis Lutter can take Anderson down and get Mount i believe Henderson with the better take downs and ground control can get it done as well.

This will be a different fight. Silva was coming off knee surgery just before the Lutter fight so he didn't train properly for that fight. He will be much harder to take down this time around.
But I agree it's a pickem. Dan has a great chin and excellent clinch work but so does Silva. I think this one will go the distance and Silva will win a close decision. But I wouldn't bet on it either.
Blair_Wells#32 02-21-2008, 04:42 PM yeah i've read about the knee surgery an that had 2 suck ass b4 a big fight.
but i've also read that Travis Lutter was Exhausted from the Dehydrating he had 2 go through 2 try an make weight the day of the weigh-ins.
so i think Lutter was out of it as well that fight but still managed 2 put up a good fight.
Henderson has never been KO'd b4 but if he tries 2 stand with Silva i think his Chin will b Tested big time this fight.
i'll toss a coin next week 2 decide who2 pick in this fight for my UFC Fantasy Picks :lol1: 2 bloody hard 2 call.
number6 02-21-2008, 05:13 PM Tough call but i think Henderson takes it on points, he will control the pace of the fight.
Blair_Wells#32 02-21-2008, 05:28 PM a few words from Dan Henderson on the fight
from: http://www.ocregister.com/sports/strong-ufc-guys-1984254-going-training
On striking with Silva:
"I'm going in there hoping to knock him out. I'm not going to out-slick him on his feet, but I'm definitely going to land the harder shots."
On his wrestling skills vs. Silva's Jiu-Jitsu:
"I'm not nervous about his ground game at all. Wrestling-wise I feel I can put him on the ground whenever I want. Sometimes you can't finish them quite as easy on the ground, so I'm definitely going to stand on my feet with him and striking ... it will be a good mixture of mixed martial arts. It's not going to be just on the feet. It's not going to be just on the ground or in the clinch. It's going to go all over. I'm ready for a 25-minute fight against him. I'm hoping for a 25-second knockout."
on His Training:
On his training camp in Big Bear compared to his previous camp:
"Training camp went really well. I actually went away to Big Bear for three weeks. There were no distractions. That was the main reason of going up there was to get away from everyday duties. With three kids and being here training, there is a lot going on at home. It was good to get away. My wife's been great as far as letting me do that. She doesn't complain at all. It's tough for her to take care of three kids by herself. She understands and supports me."
On his training partners:
"I had quite a few of them (Team Quest teammates) up there. It has varied. Some of them have been going back and forth. But for the most part I've had (Rameau Thierry) Sokoudjou, Brian Harper came up, Krzysztof Soszynski is up there. I had Cyril Diabate, 'The Snake,' and two of his top guys this whole training camp. It will be six weeks total for them."
On this being his first training camp in Big Bear:
"I've never gone to Big Bear for my training camp. I've gone up there in the past, maybe, when Tito (Ortiz) was training up there or some other guys that I've trained with in the past to help them out, but never for my training camp. The biggest reason why I always stay home (at Team Quest in Murrieta) is because I do have more training partners here. Everybody can't always get up there. If I didn't bring in three French guys and some other guys that came in from out of town, maybe, I would have stayed down here. But it's been good having them. I would definitely consider going back up in the future."

thats an interesting point re Lutter that may also very well affect Dan, how much will the cut affect Dan? His best performances have definitely been at 205, at 185 he has been very lacklustre at times, most likely because of the amount of weight he has had to cut. If it goes into the later rounds this could be a decisive factor.
Nodogoshi 02-21-2008, 06:11 PM Silva's a proven champ at MW, but as I've been saying, I think Hendo has the tools to knock him off. Silva has shown himself to be very dangerous with his MT clinch, but I think Hendo with his grecco will nullify this aspect. I actually expect Hendo to do more damage from the clinch with dirty boxing and takedowns than Silva. Add in Hendo's world class wrestling and I think Silva is in for a tough night. That said, I do think Hendo will stand and trade at times, and this will be Silva's best chance to get the W, but he could just as well eat a Hendo right hand which puts him to sleep. No question Silva is the better striker, but Hendo is very dangerous on his, just ask Wanderlei. Regardless of who wins, I think both guys are going to eat some leather.
Nodogoshi 02-21-2008, 06:12 PM Btw, anyone else wanna bet? I'd throw down some more points on Hendo.
robot_monkey 02-21-2008, 06:21 PM I am hoping for Anderson Silva to deliver a beatdown to Dan Henderson, just so Dana White remains pissed off. I hope Anderson keeps the title for the rest of his career. I like to see a good fight so it doesn't matter to me.

Living Legend 02-21-2008, 06:43 PM Btw, anyone else wanna bet? I'd throw down some more points on Hendo.
I'll bet you, I think I only have like 20K, but I will be willing to put 10 on Silva...
vinnie7731 02-21-2008, 06:47 PM i agree just about what everone has said. should be a good fight, im hoping henderson wins by ground and pound/tko sometime late in the 4th round.
Gareth Ivanovic 02-21-2008, 06:59 PM Should be a good fight. Some think Silva is the best P4P, but Hendo is one tough mother and Silva is gonna have to fight good to beat him. It's a close call, I say Silva wins a close decision.
Nodogoshi 02-21-2008, 07:16 PM I'll bet you, I think I only have like 20K, but I will be willing to put 10 on Silva...
Uh, we already bet 14k on it.. I don't remember the exact thread, but its been in my sig for some time.
$ LegenD $ 02-21-2008, 08:33 PM wtf??.....^^^^^^.....anyways im going with silva as u can tell by my bet but am going with a decision split decision.....just for the fact that i wanna see my boy in a very grueling fight just to confirm he is p4p#1 in the ufc.....but ill be just as happy with a 20 sec knockout win.......
Nodogoshi 02-21-2008, 08:42 PM wtf??.....^^^^^^.....anyways im going with silva as u can tell by my bet but am going with a decision split decision.....just for the fact that i wanna see my boy in a very grueling fight just to confirm he is p4p#1 in the ufc.....but ill be just as happy with a 20 sec knockout win.......
Wait, so now we've got two living legend's on here? You have 2 accounts or what? so now I have a bet with living_legend for 14k and one with Living Legend for 10k? I think Living Legend the Second needs to confirm so I can know what the ****s going on before the 10K bet stands.
Nodogoshi 02-21-2008, 09:03 PM /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
Changed my sig so as to have the correct "living_legend" reflected in the bet. I'll add "Living Legend" for 10k as soon as he confirms.
Atnan 02-21-2008, 11:55 PM everyone is blowing anderson`s stand up way outta proportion- his hands arent that great, its just his knees and kicks are very dangerous--- if you keep it close to where he only jabs (like ryo chonan) you have a great chance of winning by either ulitizing the advantage to take him down, or/and knock him out standing! i also think anderson isnt built for a 5 round fight- i say he gases in the 3rd-4th

Are you kidding? His standup is slick, good rythm, hands, kick, knees, his game is complete with the ground too. I got Silva winning in 2 by tko, Hendo will spend the 1st round trying to catch Silva while Silva tee's off on Hendo then Hendo will gas a bit and Silva will finish it off in 2.
To tell you the truth...I think we all now Anderson Silva is gonna win, he's really unstoppable now, but in our heart we want Hendo to win either A) cuz we like him, or B) cuz we don't want to see a monopoly in the Middleweight Division.
I'm rooting for Hollywood but he's gonna have to dig deep against Anderson.
Theres also talk of Wanderlei going to middleweight, that'll be huge
Blair_Wells#32 02-22-2008, 01:45 AM i donno i still say its a toss up, Henderson i think can take Anderson Silva down an control him an get some shots in.
Henderson also has some pretty heavy hands himself, KO'ing Wanderlei is not easy lol.
an 2 add on Henderson has never been KO"d.
and it seems lately that Anderson is Unstoppable on the feet.
i still say toss up but i'd say the best way for Henderson 2 win is on the ground either by pounding Silva out or Controlling Him for a Decision.
i think if they stay standing then Hendersons chances go down a bit but not by much.
:lol1: ahh i'm confused.
yea but don't forget Anderson is a ju-jit su black belt and trains with Noguera.
Dan can take a good shot but his inability to put Rampage away concerns me, at this stage I think Anderson is much more dangerous than Rampage but 185 mite acutally be Hendo better weight class
Savino 02-22-2008, 08:19 AM I think SIlva will win but it is a hard one to pick. I can't wait for this fight and it could be fight of the year. Both have great ground games and both can hit but at the moment Silva is unstopable imo.
Blair_Wells#32 02-22-2008, 12:43 PM sean sherks predictions from ufc.com
Herring via submission
Henderson via decision
after seeing Herring by submission i immediately started questioning if he is smart enough 2 do one, after looking over his record he has 16 wins by way of submission so i donno.....where were those submission skills during the Jake O'Brien fight?
Silencers 02-22-2008, 10:56 PM Silva is a beast, I can't see anyone beating him right now. I think he stops Hendo in 3.
Palma 02-23-2008, 12:57 PM I am down to bet points on Anderson.
Nodogoshi 02-23-2008, 01:32 PM I am down to bet points on Anderson.
I'll bet you
robot_monkey 02-24-2008, 07:19 PM I was watching UFC Wired last night, and considering how Anderson fought against Franklin I think Henderson might take the belt. I recall, however, that Anderson didn't really want to fight Franklin and Franklin was scared. I think this will be a good fight but there isn't enough drama there for me to want to watch it. Somebody post the clip after the event. Thanks.
Gotta go with Hendo on this one. He has a great chin and hits haaaard. He aint afraid to mix it up with dangerous strikers either. I think it's gonna be a good fight with Hendo winning by TKO in the later rounds...

his stand up was amazing compared to the likes of chris leben, franklin, etc.. (non elite stand up fighters)- if he faces someone like with great striking he wont look as good-
