...to the four British representatives, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United, plus Irish wannabes Celtic:nana:.

Liverpool and Chelsea are in action tonight with The Reds hosting Serie A leaders Inter in the first leg of a tie which could make or break their season. Inter are formidable opposition but as we have seen in the last couple of years, Liverpool are more than capable of beating any side on a European night at Anfield.

Chelsea face the slightly less daunting task of playing Olympiakos away but with the Carling Cup final just around the corner Chelsea will need to keep their focus on the plucky Greeks who held Real Madrid to a nil-nil draw before thrashing Werder Bremen to secure qualification from the group stage. If Chelsea play to their capabilities they should be able to kill the tie tonight.

Once again, good luck to all those involved and let's hope there are still five British teams in the draw for the quarter finals.

Congrats to Liverpool.

Chelsea match was cringeworthy at best, I wanted to gauge my eyes out my socket.

Liverpool do it again. They deserved the victory but the referee had a shocker with the harsh sending off of Materazzi and denying Liverpool a stonewall penalty.

Yep Materazzi must ****in hate Liverpool, the season he played for Everton he was sent off three times.

We definately deserved the win as we were on top prior to the sending off but that obviously helped the cause although Milan shut up shop so....

Liverpool have obviously had a shocker this season but we haven't had too much luck either so maybe we deserved some?

My MD met some Milan fans in the services yesterday morning and they thought that despite Liverpool's form we would win simply becuase we are a very good European style team.
This could be part of the overall problem.

Three massive games for British clubs tonight looking to continue last night's success after Chelsea earned a respectable draw in Greece and Liverpool dominated Inter Milan recording a 2-0 win in the process.

Game of the night is at the Emirates where Premiership leaders Arsenal entertain holders AC Milan. The game should tell us alot about Arsene Wenger's young side as they face the crafty veterans who have enjoyed considerable success in this tournament over the past five years. After Saturday's annihilation at Old Trafford, Arsenal will be keen to get back on the winning track but in a finely balanced tie where away goals could be crucial a clean sheet is just as important as a win.

The Stade Gerland is the venue for another intriguing game between Lyon and Manchester United. Tonight's game is especially important for United star Ryan Giggs who will be making his 100th appearance in the Champions League and he will be hoping to mark the occasion with a victory. Lyon are not the force they were two or three years ago but are a match for any team on their day and in Karim Benzema they have one of the best young players in the world. A score draw would be a good result for the Red Devils but they should be able to sneak a narrow victory.

Celtic's home record in the Champions League is astonishing. Many teams have arrived at Celtic Park confident of securing victory but left with their tails between their legs. In fact, in 16 games, Celtic have lost only once. The bad news is that team are the visitors tonight. Barcelona have been out of sorts recently and the free flowing football we have come to expect of Frank Rijkaard's side has lost its edge so much so that they find themselves trailing Real Madrid by 5 points in La Liga. But make no mistake, this is still a formidable side with arguably the best collection of players in the world. The Catalan giants are still the bookies' favourites to win the Champions League but they meet a Celtic team on form inspired by winger Aiden McGeady who is in the form of his life. Don't be surprised to see Celtic cause the biggest upset of the night but they will need to score more than one and keep a clean sheet to have any hope of progressing over the two legs.

Milan will sit back tonight and just go for the away goal or settle for a draw then try and win when they're at home.

Tonight I'm going for United, Sevilla and arsenal all to win and then Celtic - Barca to draw or maybe barca with a 1-0 win if anything.

I think Sevilla are an excellent outside bet to win the tournament. Odds of 14/1 are superb.

A mixed bag of results tonight. Arsenal will be ruing missed chances against Milan but 0-0 is not a bad result and the tie is still very much alive. United needed a late Carlos Tevez goal to draw one each with Lyon after Benzema had given them the lead. United should seal the deal at Old Trafford. Celtic looked like they could upset Barcelona and were in front twice. Hesselink gave them the lead before Messi equalised but a Barry Robson header saw Celtic lead at half time. An exquisite goal by Henry drew Barcelona level ten minutes into the second half before Messi scored his second to win the tie. Celtic have no chance of winning by two clear goals in the Nou Camp and Gordon Strachan has to take the blame for tonight's result. For a reason unknown to any sane person he decided to play a 4-4-2 in a game where he must have known that Celtic would be on the back foot for the majority of the 90 minutes. Barcelona enjoyed complete dominance in midfield and could easily have scored more goals but were aided by Strachan's bizarre decision.

There was nothing you could do about the 2nd goal, it was unstoppable.

We Gave the ball away in our own half leading up to it, but the strike was unstoppable.

The one time Henry hits form and it's against us. Typical Celtic luck.

I'm a glass is half full kind of guy.

I look at the fact that Celtic haven't won away in Europe as a good thing.

There's a first for everything.

A 2-0 win is far from impossible. The tie is still on because if you score it goes to extra time so....
