So far this year I have paid over fifteen thousand dollars in interest on my mortgage. Is there a certain percentage that is refunded when I do my taxes? Also, are closing costs refundable too? I really need the answer of these questions. Would you like to help me? Have a nice day. Spare Moody 08-06-2008, 02:47 PM Hi everybody, what percentage of mortgage interest is refunded in taxes? Have a nice day. you get to deduct all of the interest (and property taxes) on taxes but, how much of that you actually SEE depends on your income bracket. all of your closing costs are refundable ONLY if they were tied to the loan you used to purchase the home. if they were tied to a refinance loan then you hafta divide the closing costs over the year-span of the mortgage. for example, if you refinanced into a 30-year loan and paid $10,000 of closing costs then you will deduct $333 each year for the next 30 years. |
