a thread where people wont get pissed if you talk mundine!

so tills tells us on the sweet science boxing program it was announced that kessler wanted a rematch with mundine immediately after the hamdan fight

obviously this is a good fight for kessler in his mind.. he's already beaten mundine soundly.. and it would make good money.. and its a path back to SMW world champ..

so mundine has a real offer from a real fighter.. he cant say it doesnt make business sense.. he's going to make more than he would for fighting hamdan..

so will mundine take the fight? the offer is there and it makes sense.. discuss.. and lets please not just make this a nuthuggers vs haters thread..

lets have some sensible talk and respect each others opinions

Is the offer for Mundine to travel to Denmark or is Kessler willing to come down here again?

I'd say if the offer is made public, Mundine would be backed into a corner and have no choice but to take the fight, otherwise Kessler has every right to stage a press conference and bring out a caged chicken and call it Anthony.

Nope. Mundine fights the winner of Froch/Inkin. For the WBC title. In Sydney.

I liked the 4th option on the poll by the way.

I doubt he would take it anyway. He would think of something that would get him out of it. I really can't see him fighting anyone really good in he next couple of years and by the time he gets around to it he'll be done.

The other thing is if Mundine did beat Kessler, it would be because Calzaghe ruined Kessler or just showed him up for the second rate fighter so many people want him to be and not because Mundine has actually improved enough to beat him.

Mundine could upset Kessler with a close UD. But the fight is to risky and no way Mundines management will let him near it.

As for fighting no one good in the next two years. No offence Benny but thats no way near right. The last 3 fights Mundine has had (even i didn't buy the PPV's except for the last one), have been a retirement fund.

He has made about $3 mill, from the last 3 fights without taking a risk. Why? Even if he looses to whoever he fights in the next two fights, even big names. He will still make another $8 million and is set to retire. You probably think this is a lot of money, but Mundine is supporting all of his relatives aswell.

So realistically speaking. He goes 12 with Hamden to get some ring rust out of him. But then he fights Froch (i presume he will win), in Sydney come August. Then most likely Green in December.

And he will have the WBA,WBC SMW titles. And WBA LHW title.

Then this is where it starts to get interesting and not even Mundines management know what to do from here. Its all up to the fighter, and Mundine has suffered from massive lows and highs inconfidence over his career. Its likely if hes high on confidence this is when possible bouts with Kessler, Taylor, Pavlik, Calzaghe come into play. Especially since he has a few belts. But if Mundine still doesn't believe in his ability he will ride out his career fighting bums.

Either way it is going to be very interesting to see how his career pans out.

Beaten Kessler in a rematch could be a very smart move for mundine!!! But he better be in top shape cause kessler isnt an easy beat!!! But i still think Choc can do it!!!

Yep and it will lead to his undoing.

No way you can fight Nievas, Clavero and Hamden and be competitive with Kessler.

if he doesn't have a tune up against Sakio. Then hes going to get fcked up.

(He will fight Froch though, not Kess)

In all fairness Mundine should grant Kessler a shot at his Title. In 2005 when Kessler was WBA Champ he brought his Title over here to Oz and put it on the line against Mundine. With Kessler being champion, Mundine should have gone over to Denmark to fight him. Kessler also had a bad back and still beat Mundine by UD. Mundine was more worried about not getting KOd rather than winning the thing.

Kessler's loss to Calzaghe will make Kessler a more hungrier and dangerous fighter now that he's got a blemish on his record. If Mundine grants him a shot which is highly unlikely (too much of a risk for Mundine and his management), Mundine could get stopped in the later rounds.

No offense taken :) I agree that Mundine could beat Kessler, if he actually fights him. The only problem is see from your point of view is that he could be making more money fighting bigger names, and his tune up fights could be against Green or Bika who have bigger names than Hamdan and the other junk he has been fighting. They might also actually get him prepared for bigger fights instead of having to make such a huge leap! He will also be fighting for belts then as well.

Screw fighting these guys! He has to just fight the guys like Froch, Bute, Kessler now! Right now! He can't keep ***** footing around fighting these hacks.

I like Mundine and think he is a great boxer but I don't want to hear about his money making and politics. I don't give a **** about how much money he can make fighting guys who suck, nor will I excuse him for doing it, while he says he is the best. All I want, as a boxing fan and Aussie, is to see him fight the best and to back up what he claims, which is that he is the best in the world. Too many fans seem to talk about fights from a monetary point of view now and what fights they see happening only because "If it makes dollars, it makes sense". :ugh:

^^^^^^

what he said, the guy is already a multimillionaire, its not like he needs anymore cash, he could retire and live comfortably for the rest his life without ever having to work another day.

Start going for the glory already for ****s sake.

I think we all share the same views here. Its time for "The Man" to proove it, or shut up.

What happens when Hamdan knocks him out?

Also when Mundine fought Echols, was Echols any good?

I wouldn't be to dissapointed if Hamden knocked him out. Would be funny watching Khoder Nasser, realise he has totally fckd up his fighters career. But it won't happen.

Echols was a bit past it then. But Mundine was new to the sport then aswell. If the Mundine then fought the mundine now, the mundine now would KO within 3 rounds.

Im so not getting wednesdays fight though, the post fight interview will be interesting.

In Case anyone is wondering. On my way home from work yesterday "The Mouth" was being interviewed on radio.

The guys were making fun of him, sayign who is the next cab driver hes fighting.

But he also said Kessler is out of his plans. He brings nothing to the table (no belts), but its fear. Because hes after either Taylor or Winky he said.

So no Froch, No Kess, No Calzaghe.

Winky or Taylor.

I was laughing because the guys on the radio were stirring the **** out of him. Bringing up why he wasn't in the top 100 league players.

I think Kessler would beat Mundine again, it'd be more fruitful for Anthony to fight someone else. Just my opinion.

Mundine vs. Lacy/Taylor/....Froch even... would be cool.

Kessler should have a few more fights...then push for Calzaghe rematch.

I can't decide on that one. I think Mundine would do much better than he did last time and he had some good moments but was just too inconsistent with his attack overall. He needed to stick the jab and use more lead rights to break up the rhythm. I think he is overall a much more consistent offensive fighter now though maybe still not enough to win against the best. We simply don't know yet or can't tell as he has not shown what he has against a top tier opponent lately. It's really f*cking frustrating!!!

I agree on the Lacy/Taylor/Frock fights though. These are the guys he should be going for right now. I think he could beat them and they would be better names, bring more to the table, get him bigger fights and get him more prepared than the ****e he insists on fighting still.

By the time Kessler has a few more fights and decides on a rematch or even tries to get it Calzaghe will be retired. I think Calzaghe actually will retire after one more fight. Or maybe even straight after Hopkins if he wins. He should go for the Jones Jr fight and then give it in.

Froch vs Kessler

Mundine vs Taylor

Next fights in the SMW division.

Taylor fight is in USA.

Every day a division of uncertainty becomes more clearer.

We all know Kessler will be the undisputed SMW champion soon enough.
The division is quite deep but there's no fighters that really can bother Kessler out there. Kessler will run right through the division, but he'll probably never be able to rematch Joe Calzaghe
