kbpoetree 04-23-2008, 06:44 PM you should have dumped him awhile ago. he is finished.
here that bingo, your boy is done. barry bonds is rumored to be headed to toronto though.
lol....u know the worst part is i keep him and Cameron cause if i have too many guys to chose from ta play...i alwayz make the wrong decision...so if they cant play its easier...lol....but yeah he's prob done..i might drop him and add Bonds..lol...i'm crazy
RAESAAD 04-24-2008, 12:04 PM OK, I feel like things are starting to come together.....Utley is simply a monster and I have several guys that appear to be catching stride. Just need some better pitching which should be on the horizon as well. I like where things are going.
Kobe Bryant 04-25-2008, 12:11 PM OK, I feel like things are starting to come together.....Utley is simply a monster and I have several guys that appear to be catching stride. Just need some better pitching which should be on the horizon as well. I like where things are going.
7-9. Hopefully I can take back strikeouts without taking any loses. I got Randy going tonight in his second or thrid start back. But the other cats are kind of close. I'm not going to win hr's though.
Kobe Bryant 04-25-2008, 12:13 PM I wanna only play my most efficient guys at the moment. Meaning to bench a few people and go with fewer players in my line up , to get the batting average back. But we are close in totals so if I do, I would be giving up all of those cats like runs, hits, etc.
oldgringo 04-25-2008, 12:37 PM I couldn't buy a win this week. Chris Young pitches a 1 run, 10 strikeout gem and takes the L. Billingsley (a nice snag) sits down 12 batters and takes an L.
I'm hitting .320 this week and I'm still getting smashed.
RAESAAD 04-25-2008, 01:48 PM Man I checked those H2H stats the totals part and my bats are great but my pitching is horrible. Thats why I'm nearly in last place......:nonono:
I've hammered the ball this week and am still at risk for a loss due to very poor pitching earlier in the week.:nonono:

I'm disappointed with the lack of trades thus far.

It's 7-10 at the moment. I have most of the pitching cats locked up. But I will lose, because my offense has not been that good at all.
oldgringo 04-26-2008, 04:23 PM Fix I offered you a pair of trades.
Rose I offered you a trade.
You too Jefe.
RAESAAD 04-26-2008, 05:16 PM The reason I haven't accepted any trades is the players people are trying to get are not on the market......I.E. Utley and Sizemore. Really I'm happy with my players accept my pitching and I have faith things are gonna get better soon.

I think it's a good trade for both of us. I get an offensive upgrade in power and RBI (which I needed badly). You get a top catcher prospect who is performing as well as any other C in the league, a solid bat in Helton, and your boy Bedard. Hopefully Kazmir gets healthy.
Good doing business sir. This is how deals get ****ing done.

yeah its a fair deal, i could use bedard who is finally on a good team. he'll get me k's and wins.
helton and soto for gonzalez is pretty even too, even if soto is just riding a hot streak. im pretty good at 1b with conor jackson playing as well as he is and helton/thome will be my fall back at util. if soto fall off, i wasnt getting any productiom from that spot anyhow.
RAESAAD 04-27-2008, 08:45 AM I'll probably take your offer Gringo. Gotta think it over a bit......It appears to be a good offer I'm just hesitant to pull the trigger for some reason.:dunno:

I worried when I saw the score was 8-7. I was like here we go again, just like last year. I think I have a decent team. Definately better then I thought it would be. I just need a little bit better pitching and I think I will do ok...
The Fix 04-29-2008, 02:48 PM id like one more decent starter..
thome, cuddyer, delmon young and orlando cabrera are available.

im pretty sure it gives you stats for your whole profile. every fantasy game you have going under your name should be stat tracker eligible.
oldgringo 04-30-2008, 04:28 PM making moves MAKING PLAYS!!!
it's all coming together boys. i have a couple of strong moves coming this week and unless my pitchers get shelled this week i have a good shot to sweep the pitching categories.

Relievers: B-
Probably the best top to bottom offense in the league on paper. Power, speed, and in between. The only flaw in the offense is injuries. Weeks has had two injury plagued seasons, Sheff is old and struggles to stay healthy, Pujols has a deteriorating elbow, McCann and LEe have all missed time due to injury, etc. If everyone can stay healthy this offense could be what Polish or Jefe's were last year...and that was enough for strong showings well beyond the regular season. While the bats are great, the pitchers are a bit of a weak spot. One of the weaker staffs in the league in fact. Penny was nice last year, but he shouldn't be the #1 guy on your roster. Lilly and Myers are somewhat questionable. They may or may not perform. Good setup guys save the relievers, as Cordero is solid but Gagne is anything but. If additions can be made to the pitching staff and depth can be added to the offense, this could be a playoff team.
Scary team. His best offensive player is hurt and he's still in first!
Good job ex.

It's only good for one sport. If you buy it for baseball its just for that. If you have multiple baseball teams it gives you the stats for the other teams as well.
It is not for your whole profile. That would be a deal though. But it's just for whatever sport you buy it for.

i had a nice cushion due to your horrid pitching performances. my bats are hard to stay with, always over 100 TBs, shit load of singles and hits. gonzalez and upton will help me step up my home run game too.
i'm two or three moves away from being set for the mid season grind.
kbpoetree 05-02-2008, 08:23 AM u had no cushion at all until last night my man..come on now....and i bet tonight i take it all back....my pitching has actually been my strong point....the losses catergorie i dont mind losing in if i have the saves and wins...lol..and k's....

the losses and ER/era/whip are what provided me the cushion. because i had fairly significant leads there i can afford to just pitch my guys (i have a ton of SPs) at will to get bigger leads in K's and W's.
my closer situation isn't very solid right now though.

I dispute the bolded.....I mean Zims should have a much better year than Youks but not so far.It depends and it's a long year. My 3 no name OF are top 100 fantasy players ta the moment pal. Tulowitski was a huge disappointment and really ****ed me this year at SS but who knows how it will all play out. Look at the H2H stats I'm beating you in many offensive categories is what I truely mean......but there's a long way to go.

BTW....Nady is breaking out this year pal. He will go 25-30HR with 80-100 rbi while batting in the .300 range IMO. I'm kind of ****ed at SS tho. 14k made me a nice offer today but I just can't let go of Utley. He is the anchor to my whole team so far and probably will be all season.I almost picked up Hardy before you did but I have him in another league and he is straight ass this year. And Swisher is shit overall......he's good for Runs and little more like you said at the begining when I was gonna use him as my 1b. Kotchman has been a pleasant suprise, He is hitting like he has always been expected to....hopefully it continues.

oldgringo 05-05-2008, 01:39 PM Good week KB. Your guys fought back and kept your team alive. A 15-1 week would have been crushing.
There are some names I am surprised to see in the bottom half of the league right now. Saad, Jefe, Lefty...I thought you guys would be battling for playoff position right now. Long season though.
Big match up this week between myself and Sonny. Also, a return series between 14-K and ficks...2006 semi-final matchup.
Saad do yourself and I a favor and smoke Explosivo this week.

I'm going to try. My bats are putting up nice numbers every week but my pitching is still killing me. Saves hasn't been much of an issue tho....lol Harden and Lackey are supposed to be back next week so if they can do well and Carmona can turn it upa bit I should be alright for the longer haul but time will tell. I'm only a couple of games out of the top half of the standings even after such a rocky start, so I'm not worried......yet.
Kobe Bryant 05-06-2008, 11:26 AM I'm willing to trade C.C. Sabathia. If anyone is interested. I don't think I'll make offers, because I hate waiting for repsonses. But if you offer me something I'll reply by atleast the end of the day.

The Fix 05-06-2008, 01:31 PM im taking a chance on tulowitzki returning to last years form, if he does, it could make me a contender.

Good luck. He was shit this year before getting injured....he'll likely be shit after. I wasted a draft pick on him. I would have kept him on the DL if I hadn't had Lackey and Harden already on it. Good luck with him tho......Felipe Lopez has been a nice fill in for him since he started plating on a regular basis. SS and pitching is really my only weaknesses so far.

Something of good value. I'm last in a lot of categories but I'll look at anything.

yeah he was terrible this year, but i have two dl spots open....ill let him sit on thier a week or so after he is healthy to feel him out, if it pans out ill drop someone if not, ill drop him.

I wouldn't worry about it. I would boast but I know how easily things can take a turn. Plus it's early in the week.

RAESAAD 05-07-2008, 02:19 PM Man that Reds pitcher Edison Volquez is for real. I have him in my 2 other leagues and he just lights it up week after week........Wish I would have picked him up in this league.:dunno:

SonnyG8R 05-07-2008, 05:57 PM My starting Pitching has quietly gone from my teams weakness, to one of the strongest units in the league. Cliff Lee and Ervin Santana are 2 of the best pitchers in the game right now. No doubt. Both of whom I considered picking up at one point but failed to pull the trigger.....I look for my pitching to improve soon with Harden and Lackey coming off the DL.....Floyd appears to be a nice pick up for me and if Carmona or Verlander can pick things up a bit I should have a good staff for the 2nd half of the season. Percival contrary to manys opinion has been lights out as a closer thus far.

RAESAAD 05-08-2008, 01:46 PM Mr. Big Shot went down......The Magic have a chance to come back now.
SonnyG8R 05-08-2008, 04:45 PM I can't believe Papelbon took the loss last night, not to mention blowing the save.
edit: we should have added the QS category to offset those pitchers who lose or win based entirely on the run support. It gives some recognition to a guy who pitches great and gives up one or two runs and losses because his team can't score for shit...
Maybe next season.

aka adam wainwright. 7 shut out innings and douchbag mcgee blows the save....wainwright is robbed of a win.
Kobe Bryant 05-09-2008, 08:37 AM Mr. Big Shot went down......The Magic have a chance to come back now.
Yeah he may have seperated a testicle after he did those splits. I think the Magic will tie it up. And then Chauncey will come back in a heroic fashion and lead the Pistons to a game five win. At that point I see the Magic tying it up and forcing 7.
Kobe Bryant 05-09-2008, 09:12 AM Webb is awesome 8-0.
RAESAAD 05-09-2008, 01:49 PM Verlander is for sale.......make offers. I'm positive as soon as he is off my cursed team he'll start winning and even if he doesn't he's a good source of Ks. I'd like a decent IF of any position for him if anyone wants to make a deal.
RAESAAD 05-09-2008, 01:51 PM I was robbed of two CG this week.....Floyds almost no hitter and Jackson being pulled after 8 brilliant innings in Toronto last night. Go figure Percival decides to blow his first save of the year last night too so I didn't even get a W out of it.:nonono:
Kobe Bryant 05-09-2008, 08:51 PM I have ten doubles this week. I think that's pretty good.
oldgringo 05-09-2008, 09:25 PM wow, i am facing mr. hot streak pitching. good lord...2 CG/SHO against me this week....
the cold bats continue too.:(
RAESAAD 05-10-2008, 09:44 AM I accepted one of your offers Gringo. I'm fairly deep at OF and It should help my pitching. Watch Verlander go on a tear now......It would be my luck.....and yours.:D

I'd say he'd be lucky to end up with 12 wins at this point but ya never know. I didn't wanna let go of Hart but Haren really will help me I think, especially with Harden and Lackey coming back next week. I could end up with a great staff but it's all a question mark at this point. I need to trade for a syud SS and then I'll feel fairly complete. Kaz is pitching lights out for you tonight.

i had to bench his ass. sonny and his endless string of CG/SHO's forced my pathetic hand.
Kobe Bryant 05-11-2008, 12:55 AM Those damn Pistons. The Magic suck inexcusible loss without Billups in the line up. They probably won't play him next game to see if they can get a win without him. If they don't then he'll be back for game six.
Kobe Bryant 05-11-2008, 12:56 AM Wow I got 5 hr's today to get that cat back.

On the other side, I lost this week because my LAST player, Jonathan Broxton, who is otherwise lights out, gave up 6 runs.........
What a bunch of horse shit. I would have only managed a draw if he didn't do that, but after my relatively average week I would have loved a draw. Sundays are tough man.
Good week Sonny. Your pitching was stellar.

Yeah he's on fire lately. So are the Marlins as a team. Oh and lets not forget about them Rays! shuting out the Yanks 6-0 in the 7th after sweeping the Angels. Man they are beating the best teams in the AL lately......I knew they'd be btter aND i KNOW IT'S EARLY BUT THEY ARE LOOKING SCARY GOOD SO FAR.

Yeah the Yanks start off slow for some reason. But I haven't gotten into baseball yet. Waiting for the NBA playoffs to be done. Then MLB will get all of my attention. Longoria should have waited on his deal. But maybe he needed the financial security.
Kobe Bryant 05-12-2008, 10:09 PM Lefty, I sent you an offer.

I countered with Howard for Rollins. Guess you wanted no part of that.

leaves me with no SS and three 1b, you'd still have prince. if i wanted howard that badly i would have taken him in the draft instead of rollins.
that trade doesn't make much sense for me does it? especially when rollins has been performing and howard has been very cold.

I really didn't consider how it would affect your team. I just thought you wanted him.PLus I didn't need another 1b coming back to me in Gonzalez.

What would it take aside from Utley to aquire Rollins from you? I'm very pen mined when it comes to getting myself a stud SS.

It would take upgrades at two other positions. I dunno really. Since we have already made a deal, I find it a bit harder to make another one.
I would not trade you say:
Upton/Rollins
for
Utley/Your SS
because I'd be losing too much. Plus Yimmy is my favorite baseball player today not named Frank Thomas. I only would trade for Utley/Sizemore at this point.

I wanted power a lot of power. He's gonna turn it up it's a matter of time. I doubt he bats .170 the whole season.

No doubt. I'm certain I have a great young player in Gonzalez, but I just like to own my favorite players around the league (in addition to winning).
If I could roll with an offense:
Russell Martin
Howard
Utley
Yimmy
Zimmerman
Jetuuuhhhhhhhhhhh
Dye
Markakis
Abreu
Big Hurt
I'd be happy. In fact that's my goal for the end of the season.
kbpoetree 05-13-2008, 08:34 AM who wants some outfielders or one at least?
Kobe Bryant 05-13-2008, 11:26 AM Not me. I don't think anyone needs outfielders. Shit I have so many and most of them suck. My tow best OF's have been Bradley and Quentin, both of which I picked up off of free agency.
RAESAAD 05-13-2008, 11:59 AM It seems there are always OF in the FA pool to be had......I'm going to remember that when drafting next season. I'm going to go for solid position players first.

OF is a stacked position. It's nice to have good ones though. My OF group is definitely set.
Crawford
Markakis
Fukudome
Hart
Hermida
Bruce
That's ridiculous young talent and potential.
RAESAAD 05-14-2008, 07:13 PM Lowell Homers in his RAES RAYS debut......I really feel good about that trade we made Gringo. I needed another solid IF player and defintely a solid pitcher and I don't think I'll miss Hart much and certainly shouldn't miss Verlander......even if he does start pitching well he's done enough damage to me already this year to never want him on my team again....lol

I actually just dropped Longoria on my other team.....He's not putting up numbers even worthy of holding him on the bench. You gotta sieze the moment in Fantasy baseball and I really see no upside to keeping him until maybe after the all star break he comes around.....but thats only if you can afford to keep him on your bench.

im in the same boat.
Kobe Bryant 05-16-2008, 08:47 PM I think my studs Sabathia and Howard are finally getting their season going. And also Webb is great.
oldgringo 05-18-2008, 02:10 PM Big night last night. My bats finally came alive. Nick Markakis and Ryan Zimmerman have been nice this week.
In other news, Ryan Braun is going "Ryan Braun" on everybody over the last month. Dude hit another home run today. He's still no Lance Berkman (aka God). Holy ****, Berks is playing better than A-Rod and Utley played last year.
This thread is getting a little boring. Anybody have any sleepers they are eyeing right now? No prospects have come up and done anything yet. I picked up Jay Bruce with the hope that he'd be called up soon. My other young guys (Kooz, Butler) are playing fairly well. I had to give up on Lastings Milledge.
Here's an interesting article:
Closing Time: Chris Perez's heater could singe your eyebrows
By Big Noise
"Overshadowed by Jayson Werth's never-to-be-matched-again three-homer night on Friday, one of baseball's premiere prospects made a cannonball splash in his major league debut.
Unsurprisingly, owners didn't dissect his statistical potential for 30-plus pages on fantasy message boards across the Web like "The Schiznit" Max Scherzer. Nor did they post nearly 100 comments over his anticipated arrival like the ultra-hyped Clayton Kershaw.
But Christopher Ralph (Mercedes) Perez - yep, that is his full name - is an elite prospect with enormous fantasy upside.
Even late-80s R&B songstress, Pebbles, would agree.
With geriatric Jason Isringhausen dealing with hip concerns and an uncontrollable urge to brazenly attack clubhouse plasmas, Ryan Franklin has been thrust into the Cards closer role. But he's hardly an ideal stopper.
In many ways, Franklin is a painter, a Brian Bannister in late-inning duty. More deceptive than overpowering (90-92 mph fastball), his offspeed repertoire isn't typical of most closers. Including today's solid two-inning win, Franklin has surrendered one earned, four hits and four walks in 5.2 IP since taking the ninth-inning reigns.
But despite his respectable numbers, he's merely keeping the seat warm for Perez.
Recalled on Friday, the not-yet-Yahoo-available Perez could emerge the Cardinals primary stopper by July 1."
I might bite. My third closer (Soriano, when he returns) looks like he'll be a set-up man when Smoltz gets back.
RAESAAD 05-18-2008, 05:03 PM **** me......great week in nearly all categories but still losing(thanks to Braun) arrrrgggghhh!!

Kobe Bryant 05-19-2008, 11:37 AM I got Rosewood this week. Looking to make it three straight weeks with double digit wins. Does Rose even check his team? He has been non existent in this thread. ROSE WHERE ARE YOU?????
oldgringo 05-19-2008, 11:45 AM 15 weeks left fellas. We are 1/3 of the way through the season. I can't believe it...feels like just two weeks ago I was waiting for the draft.
Since there is so long to go it's not really make or break time yet. There are three big match ups this week at the top:
Polish vs. Explosivo in a battle of the BATS.
14-K vs. UncleJeffay in a battle of 3 vs. 5.
BDC vs. Ficks in a return of last season's massacre and the playoff final from 2006.
Of course every matchup is big though because one good week from someone outside the top six and they might take that 6 spot. I expect a similar top six when we reach the 2/3 mark. I think Saad and Sonny may improve their positioning a bit. Ficks has some problems to deal with now with a shallow pitching staff and an injured Peavy. He may drop out.

I defintely will. My pitching is stellar now compared to the first 3 weeks and my bats are staying fairly strong every week. I will make the playoffs unless a couple big injuries hit me hard. Martin and Sizmore are really starting to do things they were expected to do from day one so I'm feeling pretty confident.

I pray the Lakers make it back. And we play the Pistons. How sweet it would be to beat the team who ended our historic run. I hate the Pistons with a passion.

oldgringo 05-19-2008, 12:07 PM I pray the Lakers make it back. And we play the Pistons. How sweet it would be to beat the team who ended our historic run. I hate the Pistons with a passion.
No Bynum = HUGE change it match ups. Bynum was a guy we would have had to worry about because of his size and skill inside. Kind of like Ilgauskas. Now that he's done we match up much better. Sheed can guard and bother Odom, Dyess on Gasol, Tay on anyone, Rip runs around with Kobe and Chauncey is a huge mismatch on any of your PGs. Our bench is just as deep this year too.
It'd be a better series than '04, but I think the Pistons would emerge because we'd have home court.

Pistons are good. But the Bynum excuse is out the window. This team has moved on without him. Aside from causing some havoc defensively, it would be easy to body him up. With Gasol he can do more than just score. He is unselfish and gives it up. Odom has been outstanding I like the Lakers youth. Plus 3 straight games in LA.

Teams with a lot of athleticism and size give the Pistons problems. This is why the Sixers pressed us. Why the Cavs beat us last year. Teams that can attack the hoop and can hit the offensive boards hard will cause us a lot of problems because we are no longer a great defensive rebounding team. Not enough size/strength down there.
The Lakers are a finesse team. They spread the ball around and hit open jump shots. Kobe and Odom attack the basket, but only Kobe is a huge threat to take over a game that way. The Pistons are a GREAT defensive team on the perimeter. This is why we handled the Magic so well. We will take away some of the effective extended game that Radmanovic/Vujacic/Fisher/Farmar play with our length and ability.
On the other hand, I think Kobe will lose a little steam chasing Rip around. Nobody on your team can guard Sheed. Odom would probably be the best option, but Sheed would abuse him down low. Chauncey is bigger and better than any Point you have, so he'd also present mismatches.
Our bench is strong now too. Stuckey looks like he could be a starter, Hayes can hit the 3ball, Maxiell is a manchild and Lindsey Hunter is Lindsey Hunter.
If the series happens, we'll have to make some sort of wager.

Yeah sure we can make so sort of bet. I think the Pistons will probably steal game one in Boston.
I am confident in the Lakers that they can play with Detroit. The funny thing is that our loss to the Pistons a few days after Bynum went down was the final straw. The Lakers had that game won and Prince hit a prayer. The next day we traded for Gasol. So I thank the Pistons for that atleast.
oldgringo 05-19-2008, 12:44 PM The Stons/Lakers split this season, each team won at home.
When the Stons were on the road, we were without Stuckey, Billups and McDyess. The Lakers had a 41 point (Pistons 23) 4th quarter and ended up winning by 12. The Lakers had no Vujacic and Turiaf, but had Bynum.
In our home stand, the Stons won by 1 point on a Tay 3ball with both teams at full strength(sans Bynum). Just a tidbit.
Kobe Bryant 05-19-2008, 12:47 PM If they play Dertroit the Lakers will probably switch Kobe to Billups. And let Fish and our bench players take the duties on RIP. The Lakers are a bit soft. But they played a physical Utah team and closed it out on the road. So far the Lakers and Pistons have looked the best in the playoffs. I think with Detroit they have trouble with superstars. Really looking back overs the years they have been put out it has been Bron and Wade. I think Kobe is clearly on the level of those guys and will be able to get to the line.
Lakers do get up and down a bit which the Pistons struggled with in Philly. And they can be lazy at times and we have better shooters than Orlando. Should be interesting if it happens. But the Lakers still have to beat a tough San Antonio or New Orleans first.

I remember both games vividly. Amir Johnson was blocking the shit out of us. But you know LA guys love to come home and ball. Prince always has some of his best games against the Clippers and Lakers at staples.

The Conference show downs are both excellent this year. Pistons/Celtics - Lakers/Spurs would showcase the 4 best teams in the NBA hands down.

Definitely. So I take you aren't giving NO a chance tonight??
oldgringo 05-19-2008, 01:05 PM Definitely. So I take you aren't giving NO a chance tonight??
They definitely have a chance. With the circumstances of this years playoffs and when you consider history, NO should win this game for sure. I just have a feeling the Spurs are gonna snake em in the last 2 minutes.
Who would you rather play? NO or SA?
The Fix 05-19-2008, 01:14 PM i made some improvements and im hoping peavy dont go on the dl. my experiment with my benching of my pitchers didnt work so well.

I have to go with SA. They are a step slower this year and that is for sure. All season they have struggled with scoring. And have been held to under 90 a lot. I just like the Lakers uptempo play against an older SA. No knock on them. But Parker can't ingite the whole team through distributing like Paul can. And West is too lethal from the outside. The Lakers have the half court and fastbreak to handle SA.

Lol. I have also experimented with benching pitchers this season. And in the past couple of weeks it has worked. One thing I learned in fanstasy is you can't wait forever through a players struggles.
Take Howard and Sabathia. I benched them more than I would have previously. Now that they have hit their strides I just plug them in. Other then my atrocious outfieled that I drafted I like my chances to get in the playoffs.

RAESAAD 05-20-2008, 10:33 PM Lackey with another strong outing, he's looking really good fresh off the DL. Harden has too......
Kobe Bryant 05-21-2008, 02:19 PM 0-1 Detriot. Hopefully my Lakers fair better tonight. Chauncey is hurt more than they have let on. Because I don't believe he would sit so long in the 4th if it weren't the case.
Kobe Bryant 05-21-2008, 02:20 PM Baseball talk now. Webb is going tonight for me the best pitcher in baseball right now.

I don't know about that. He looked pretty explosive, blowing by Rondo on several occasions en route to some converted points. He just didn't look like he was mentally in the game. He hasn't played since May 7th or something like that. He has a little rust to shake off.
We really just couldn't get into any kind of rhythm last night. Sheed played like shit, Rip was pretty insignificant and Chauncey isn't quite with it yet. I'm thinking game 2 will be a little better for us.
Dyess, Stuckey and Tay all looked good, so that's encouraging.

Verlander may have snapped his slump with his performance the other night Gringo.....Kudos to you if he has. Either way Haren has gotten me 2 wins already and thats more than Verlander gave me in the first 6 weeks of the season so I'm happy.....It seems it was a good trade for both of us.

Even tho I hate the ****ing Yankees and love seeing them where the Rays usually are......I have to agree, It's time to rebuild for a year or two rather than hitting the panic button and trying to buy a winning team.

RAESAAD 05-25-2008, 11:03 AM Man I can't catch a break at SS. Tulo underperforms and gets injured, Keppinger plays well but gets injured and Barmes plays very well and gets injured. Hardy has been playing better the past week or so, One can only pray he starts playing like he did last year. I wish I held on to Ryan Ludwick, Nice pick up Sonny.

Gotta love injuries (or hate them). I have had Rollins, C Young, R Soriano and Victor Martinez hurt this year. Bedard was injured for a bit while I had him too.
Saadmon you are catching some tough breaks. A big day today could get you the W though.
oldgringo 05-25-2008, 12:16 PM In other news, my #1 spot has just warmed up for me by Explosivo this week. Gotta love Polish serving up a 14-2 beat down.

SonnyG8R 05-25-2008, 01:33 PM I started a new job a few weeks ago. I work for Nike now. The pay is not as good as what I was making, but I love the job and the benefits are great.

4. Only I Cano ^ (5)
5. Explosivo v (1)
6. Mitchell Report ^ (8)

9. Kate Hudson v (7)
10. RAES RAYS v (9)
11. ROSEWOOD ST BERNARDS -- (11)
12. Clement's Butt Cheek -- (12)
This is the way I see it. Explosivo drops way down after being crushed by Polish, most of the middle stays the same, Saad continues to drop and Fix suffers some crushing losses (losing Peavy, losing by a wide margin to moi).
Sonny, FairPole, 14-K and I come out looking strongest with a third of the season in the books. Explosivo is still a strong team, but his lack of pitching was exposed this week. Ex, with the likes of Weeks/Sheff/Rios/Beltre on your bench, I think you could really upgrade your pitching staff by trading. Just a thought.

What do you want for Ichiro?
TheFairPole 05-29-2008, 05:31 AM Man I can't buy a break......Tough loss, alot of very close categories. Oh well I do like how my teams been performing overall......I just can't seem to beat the guy I'm playing week to week.:nonono:
Rae, what do you want for Go Go Gomez?

My guys are not clutch this year..I'm mixing it up to find my groove...The only thing on my side is time!! Hopefully with a few good moves I can get things turn around before the break..
ROSEWOOD 05-29-2008, 10:07 AM What do you want for Ichiro?
I've actually been looking and thinking hard..Ich is my man..
oldgringo 05-29-2008, 11:33 AM How about Upton? Are you willing to deal??
what kind of deal are you looking for? if i traded him away i'd have a big void at 2b. right now i have solid output at every position, so it'd have to be a sizable upgrade at other position(s).

Well, how about Fielder??
Kobe Bryant 05-29-2008, 11:54 AM Or how about for Zambrano and Cedeno? He plays 2nd base and hits above 300. If you don't want to trade though it's cool...
RAESAAD 05-29-2008, 12:56 PM Rae, what do you want for Go Go Gomez?
Not sure, I'll take a peek at your team later and see if we can work something out. Injuries are seriously mounting for me......:nonono:

I don't know Cedeno. He seems like a 4th/5th tier 2b. Prince would have worked if I had another 2b, but it still would give me three 1b...little bit too much.
I can trade OF however...and RP. I am loaded at those positions and I iz willing to deal.

I might do it if it were just upton and kaz for utley, but i'd have to think about it. kazmir, in limited games, has been one of the top 5 pitchers in baseball this year. Upton is a top 3-4 2b and has 20/20+ potential. Bruce is a top prospect and is already producing big time through 3 starts. I'd have to be crazy to fork him over.
So to sum up, if you want to do Upton/Kaz for Utley we might be able to swing that, but Bruce won't be a part of that unless the deal is sweetened.

I hear ya but the way I see it Bruce is still up in the air. Could he have a Braun like season yes but it's a big if. He is off to a great start though. I'll think about what you're saying and maybe we can figure something out.
kbpoetree 05-30-2008, 07:33 PM no one has offered me hardly any trades...hmmm everyone either doesnt think i have a good team..or dont like the Red's..lol..wich is half my team...course no one wants Holliday now i'm sure

oldgringo 05-31-2008, 04:43 PM Treez I just offered you a big package deal for Holliday. I get Holliday, you get some prospects, a closer and a stud #1 pitcher.
Bruce
Hermida
Torres
Wainwright
for
Holliday
Stairs
Betancourt

That was an impressive turnaround. I thought it was a mistake when I turned on the computer. There are a lot of close categories.

I would say so. At the moment right now it's 5-12. You have had good week offensively. Especially with the 17 doubles so far.
If I can keep the score like this I will still be able to hold onto 6th place. Maybe.

at least the pistons have a future. spurs are loaded with old men and sub-par players.
stuckey is going to be dwayne wade. literally. he's going to cut his face off next year and have it sewn on top of his own face and he'll live the rest of his existence as d-wade.
no but really:
stuckey/maxiell/johnson
if the joe d can continue to draft like this we'll be a contender year in year out.

aslong as skills stays elite the spurs are contenders...need some kids though. horry, finley and barry should depart.

I guess, but dude was crushing minor league pitching too. He could definitely go into a 1-68 slump or something and get sent back down to Garbageville, Ohio, so we'll just have to see.
I'm guessing his year finishes:
95r, 20hr, 90rbi, 15sb, .310avg
or better.

Celtics - Lakers is so oldschool. This will be one of the highest rated finals ever. I was pulling for the Pistons though. I had them losing to the Lakers in 5 in the office pool. I might still have a shot at winning it all if the Lakers beat the Celtics though. Up here in NH 3/4 of the guys picked Boston to win it all...
:duh:

even ginobili is 30/31. once duncan hits father time for good the spurs are going to be a lottery team.
bowen - ancient
horry - dinosaur
finley - senior citizen menu at dennys
barry - won the dunk contest in '76
thomas - college days were filmed in black and white
these dudes are OOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLDDDDDDDDDDDD

You probably will. You guys draft very well too.
Dyess knows what's up. I feel bad for Dyess...he has gone through a lot to come back from injury, but it looks like he may not get another chance.
"Billups hopes he recognizes the team next fall.
“I’m not a quitter,” he said. “I want us to keep going at it, but those decisions aren’t up to me. Everyone talks about our window closing, but I actually think our window opened up a little bit this year with the young guys like Stuckey and Max.”
McDyess, meanwhile, expects Dumars to make radical changes.
“There’s no excuse why we didn’t go back to the finals this year,” McDyess said. “He’s not blind and the fans are not blind.”
As the only starter without an NBA title, McDyess appears to take season-ending losses the hardest.
“At one point I was just sitting here thinking, `Should I just retire?”’ McDyess asked rhetorically. “We play hard in the first and second round. Get to the third round, we don’t give it like we normally give it. We step out there like zombies sometimes.”

i liked laphonso ellis.
Kobe Bryant 05-31-2008, 08:30 PM I think there may be changes with the D. They have continually been the stepping stone for other teams in the east to get to the finals. Sheed played like a hoe against KG. And sometimes they flat out just don't show up. Flip is getting the axe I believe. If only they drafted Carmello.
Kobe Bryant 05-31-2008, 08:33 PM Spurs are still okay. There big 3 can still get it done for a few more years. They just need a new cast of role platers. They have built there team on steals in the draft (Ginobili, Parker). Plus they are getting rid of a lot of old guys Horry, Finley, Oberto, Vaughn. And a few more. I think if they get a stud at the 3 or at the 4 they should be good. Pop is too good of a coach to have a lottery season.
oldgringo 05-31-2008, 08:36 PM i liked laphonso ellis.

Bosh would have been a better fit than Melo. Although Melo is a very talented scorer, he is just an average teammate.

**** I forgot about Bosh. What did he go 4th? It's just that as good as Prince is he's not a consistent scorer. You would be able to throw it into Melo and get a bucket. With Prince your not so sure. They have too much balance on offense to where you never know who's the guy on a given night.

I'll gladly let you know my masterplan.
Cano is just a player I like in the league. I like to get as many of my favorite players on my team as possible. Cano helped me win this league 2 years ago.

i wuz actually gon consider your offer gringo...u pulled it quick..lol..and Cano i'm debaten still my man...i had a counter in mind but wuz pretty sure u wouldnt take it...it dealt with Jeter and Holliday...but in return wuz prob too much for u ta give
oldgringo 06-01-2008, 11:48 AM Lefty I am considering offering you a trade.
Loney
Upton
Torres
for
Fielder
Wagner
Moyer
Upton and Fielder are a push (although Upton is playing much better), Wagner is significantly better than Torres and Loney is better than Moyer. I may be willing to substitute or add Soriano, the Braves closer, to sweeten the deal.
What say you?

yeah, i am sold on the jay bruce hype. i figured i'd be asking for more than you'd be willing to give if i proposed you another deal for holliday, so i just pulled the deal and didn't bother offering another one.
SonnyG8R 06-01-2008, 01:41 PM What do you guys say to starting a keeper league or two. We seem to have a solid core of fantasy players now. I think it would be cool to be able to think a little more long term when acquiring players. We can give it a try this football season if we can get 10-12 people to committ to at least 2-3 years.
Thoughts???
