View Full Version : Jake...answer me this...
seldomTap 05-22-2003, 11:08 PM Mate, I have a small favour to ask.
It is slighty out of the bounds of good taste and you are free to decline, but it would answer a question I have had for a long time.
Is the Fosters overseas different to the Fosters piss water we have here? Fosters here sucks, but I have seen heaps of Aussies drinking it overseas and actually smiling instead of pulling faces like they had just seen Creed naked.
All I ask mis you try and get through one stubbie of it. If it is ****, not even that much...but I gotta know
Thanks in advance
The Jake 05-22-2003, 11:39 PM I have contemplated your question. You are not alone. For this is a mystery that has puzzled many an Aussie.
My theory is, as it is purely conjecture and speculation, that Australians drink Fosters when they have grown so sick of American piss and they crave for even the slightest incling of what a good beer can taste like, that they drink Fosters.
Simply knowing that it's Australian made, and knowing that it is still prolly leaps and bounds ahead of American beer, it goes down like curry to a pisshead.
For e.g. imagine you were stuck in the middle of the desert, then imagine how anything will taste better than your own urine after awhile....
Although, they have Heinekin out here so god knows why people would pick Fosters over Heinekin....

seldomTap 05-22-2003, 11:41 PM I don't know man, my piss is pretty sweet...
I would drink almost any beer ahead of Fosters, Heinekin ****s on Fosters, Stella ****s on Fosters, ****, my Dads 'not quite right yet' home brew ****s on Fosters and that stuff can kill you
The Jake 05-22-2003, 11:43 PM Mate, I hear ya, but it's the best theory I can come up with.
And to date, nobody has disproven it.
As to why the Americans drink it, I believe they buy the commercials and think it's cool :)

seldomTap 05-22-2003, 11:44 PM Or alternatively, they are excited to see a beer over 3% alcohol?
realkaps 05-22-2003, 11:45 PM Heinekin is some of the worst **** I have ever tasted.....
realkaps 05-22-2003, 11:46 PM I have a bottle of Coors sitting on my desk and it has 5% alcohol....
seldomTap 05-22-2003, 11:46 PM But it is 1000 times nicer than Fosters, believe us
The Jake 05-22-2003, 11:46 PM Yes but we know your taste sucks Kaps.
- J.
The Jake 05-22-2003, 11:47 PM Coors is tolerable IMHO. It has nothing on Aussie beer though.

realkaps 05-22-2003, 11:50 PM People have the impression that just because somthing is more expensive it is better. I would rather have a Corona or a Coors any day.....
seldomTap 05-22-2003, 11:53 PM One of the best beers I have ever had is a local beer that is cheap in my town, but not so cheap elsewhere.
I have only had Miller and Budweiser before out of US beers and they were both pretty much swill to me
realkaps 05-22-2003, 11:55 PM Im not much of a beer drinker anyway, I will have a tall can every now and then but if I am looking to get drunk I stick with hard liquor.....
The Jake 05-22-2003, 11:56 PM Corona is good.
Coors = ok.
I'm not talking about expensive. I mean quality. Coronas are much more expensive in Australia than they are here.
Aussie beers are generally just of a high quality. I dunno if I'd go so far to say they're the best in the world because I'm really not much of a drinker. But they are of very good quality. So are some of our wines. I'd say it's largely because our culture is so largely geared towards drinking and socialising, we take great pride in our alcohol.

realkaps 05-23-2003, 12:00 AM Have you tried any home brews? My cousins boss brews some **** called Mead or somthing like that, its pretty tasty and gets you ****ed up....
seldomTap 05-23-2003, 12:02 AM Our beers are pretty good. Our wine is to, but I am not a wine drinker so can't really say.
We have our share of crappy beer though...VB, West End, XXXX...
The Jake 05-23-2003, 12:06 AM Dude, you live like, an hours drive from the Barossa Valley!! How the **** can you not appreciate wine??
- J.
seldomTap 05-23-2003, 12:25 AM And to make it worse I use to live in McLaren vale which is where the other 40% of SA wines come from, a few decent wnieries there also.
I just don't like the stuff. I have had some big nights on it before, but I always go back to beer or Bundy rum!
The Jake 05-24-2003, 12:55 PM Can't fault you there... I prefer to drink reds, beer, bourbon or scotch. Rum is also pretty damn good.
America does have something here you cannot get back home -- Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum which is really really good. I found a bottle of some Jamaican blend (a black label thing) back in Australia but I suspect it's like the horsepiss we export called Fosters coz it sure as **** did not taste good.
