Piggu 02-05-2008, 06:42 PM Nah it's not too old. There are top guys who've started later. Swellbo 02-06-2008, 11:03 PM Nah it's not too old. And i've been a skateboarder my whole life so i have insane lower body strength and im pretty agile. I mean, we have to make lower body decision just like boxers have to make upper body decisions. for example: dodge a punch goes with jump off the board and avoid slamming. we have to learn how to best avoid rolling your ankle, jump off 15 stairs not just once, but untill you pull the trick. and you have to learn how you lessen the impact of the fall so you have enough strength to keep going. we basically have to conserve energy while trying the trick, and slamming. because we know if we dont pull it right now, we're gonna be pissed. So i figure i take enough of a beating skateboarding and thats my main passion. I also love boxing, and if i wasnt on the board 24/7, I'd be in the gym 24/7. dfwtx 02-07-2008, 12:04 AM yea man im 22 and always thought about it. I'm 5'9, at around 145lbs. JUHL 02-07-2008, 03:17 PM you can fight as an amatuer until your 35 according to USA boxing (the people who run all amatuer boxing events) so 22 is not bad at all, Some of the best pros in the world have started later than 22. Get ahold of your local gym and talk to the trainer, get his input Pound 4 Pound 02-07-2008, 05:34 PM yea man im 22 and always thought about it. I'm 5'9, at around 145lbs. Well said dude! congrats! now back onto the subject. its like what Piggu said .. theres top guys thats started around that age maybe older. its not too old at all just aslong as your body is in average knack and you aint ****ed it up at all and you learn to discipline your body to meet the demands of boxing ... dont see why not - go for it! ;) to be fair *sounds silly* i thought i was too old :S at 16 ! but thats cos i was around a group of lads thats been training since 6 or some ridiculously young age lol but even 22 aint too late really at that age you still got years of mileage in ya. aussieboxer2320 02-08-2008, 06:00 AM tarver turned pro at 28 buh he'd been boxing since he was a teen CardioMonster 02-08-2008, 06:19 AM and he still sucked potatoes 02-10-2008, 01:38 PM I'm 22 years old and wondering if i should give boxing a serious try. If the trainers know boxing, as they should, they will be able to tell you what you need to do. CJsuperstar 02-10-2008, 01:51 PM You'll never know unless you give it a shot. Good luck with it, man. |
