View Full Version : What Were Your Thoughts On Vic Getting Robbed?
Dick-Sucker 02-04-2008, 11:56 PM We had the fight 114-112 to Vic. Even without counting his 3 knockdowns of Gorres which weren't counted.
Also i was watching it and the television commentators were a disgrace. So bias it wasn't even funny. Then the crowd acted like children and threw things into the ring.
Overall it was a really bad night for boxing and the sport in general.

I just saw the fight and I agree, Vic won it.
As for the classless crowd, I won't defend it. It was a disgrace. Maybe it should've been held in Manila. This fight was in Cebu and Gorres is from Mandaue City, a city in the Cebu province so the crowd was much more hostile than it would've been in Manila. And again, I'm not defending that crowd.
My other opinion on Vic is that he is a ****ing douchebag.

LOL, agree on most. But why does everyone think Vic is a douchebag Lol?
Papa Ace 02-05-2008, 07:56 AM ON THE FIGHTERS:
Yes, I do believe Vic have won the fight. Im Pinoy but I expected him to dominate Gorres who is a cotton puncher. Gorres did great in the first few rounds which, had he continued to do in the later part, he wouldve won. But he faded, maybe because of the amount of blood he lost although it can also be his stamina which is very much questionable, just like in the Montiel fight.
Either fighter performed their best, however Gorres shouldve come out more explosive since its his hometown. Vic I think performed way below of whats expected of him, he even had the nerve to KO Gorres in front of his countryman. I think its very unprofessional and disrespectful, since he was given VIP treatment by the hosts.
ON THE CROWD:
Agree that crowd was out of control and shouldnt have happend. But then again, these are C-class audience and say different from the A-B crowd like Pacquiao-Larios. Its fair to judge the people in Cebu but to generalize it as representative of the Filipino boxing crowd would be unfair.
ON THE REF / COMMENTATORS :
The ref was a nightmare and has lost control of the the fight. About the commentators, Ive heard some complaining here, people dont understand that it is supposed to be catering only to the Filipino channel carrier Solar, therefore being biased. I believe that its just a feed that the worldwide distributors had beamed, therefore there's really no attempt to have it broadcasted by a neutral commentators, again for cost reasons. Also, those who hadnt watch it viewed it in Youtube which had the same effect. Even Pacquiao fights which are carried thru PPV in the Philippines is being commentated by Filipinos thus being a little biased.
ON HOMETOWN DECISIONS :
People branding the Philippines as hometown-decision haven are wrong. For once, Gorres lost via decision to Montiel. Also, the only judge that scored it for Vic is the lone Filipino judge. There are a lot of other world title fights that a Pinoy lost to his own country. I think the most worst would have to be in Thailand, Korea and Japan. In the recent South East Asian Games in Thailand, all 17 Thai boxers representing all divisions went to the gold medal match. Scoring horror by the judges.

Watch Vic interviewed by Larry Merchant after he was KTFO by Donaire.

He said "You just watch yourself. We're wanted men. I have the death sentence on twelve systems."
I hope you have a light saber, Ultima.
merjohn32 02-05-2008, 01:48 PM I thought Vic Won and the fans who threw debris in the ring should have been thrown out of the venue.
You can read my thoughts on my blog post :)
