Okay for those of you who have watched, was I smoking too much dope while reading the comic books or did Jane really die in the comic books?

That movie kicked ass! The NightCRAWLER effects were unbelievable. I wish Iceman and Rogue would have gotten it on though. They both looked like they needed to relieve some sexually tension

I think the Pheonix angle could have been delayed. They just spent the first movie explaining mutants, now they are gonna spend a whole other movie on the emchron crystal, Pheonix and the Shi'ar empire?

I thought Phoenix was Rachel Summers(Jean and Scott's daughter)?

she is.

her powers are a down-size to the mass amount her Mother possesses when inhabited by the Guardian of the Universe.

In short, Rachel recieves her powers as a result of this happening.

Jean is the Pheonix in the sense that the spirit of the pheonix protects our universe. It picked Jean to inhabit because her telepathic powers helped aid in the Pheonix's cause.

years later when Rachael is born, she develops some of the Pheonix's characteristics so her X-name is decieded to be Pheonix because of the similarities to her mother when she was inhabited.

in the comics Jean Grey and Scott Summers give birth to 2 children, Rachael and Nathan Summers. They Both inherited thier mothers powers of Telepathy and Telekinesis. Only Rachael had some of the Pheonix element.

The Movies start in the very beginning. there is no daughter in the movie, not for sometime later.
