I am going to play rugby next season. Season starts around the end of august. I figure I gotta gain some weight since I am 172lbs atm. I wanna get to 185 in 3 months, that almost a pound a week. Will I make it or not?

Here are some stats about me:
Height: 6'2 (188cm)
Current weight: 172.6 lbs
Previously weighed: 180 lbs
Current bodyfat%: 6.2%
precious bodyfat%: 10.6%

Will I make it or not?

I'll keep up a chart of my weight here.

week1: 172.62 lbs
week2: 173.95 lbs
week3: 177.03 lbs

Peanut Butter toast before bed.

Protein shakes 2 times a day, for a combined 30 grams or more, ON TOP of your normal daily intake.

Shave carbs... increase potent calories & dietary fiber (fruit, protein bars, dairy-rich foods).

You can do this easily.

i doubt it

ohw btw...... any tips are appreciated... and I don't means hit like, eat more or train harder.... but serious **** like eating cow meat instead of pork because of heiger amounts of iron and protein in the meat or things like that.

*note* the meat was just an example, I don't know if it's true so don't pin me on it.

now that's what I am talking about....

question dave... I normally eat about 200 grams of peanuts before I go to bed..... should I rather eat 200 grams of peanuts or 2 slices of bread with peanut butter?

bread with peanut butter

why is bread with peanut butter better? (not trying to be a smartass, just curious cause i wanna do this good!)

Notice how I said to cut carbs. Why did I say that?

Carbs become two things: Stored fat or burned energy. Toasting bread will cut carb-count (believe it or not) by almost 2/3 in some breads. The Peanut Butter is very enriched, it's a healthy food that provides fats, calories, a little protein, and some fiber... it's got it all. Peanuts are good too, Ron... but Peanut Butter is more convenient. We don't all live in the peanut fields of Holland... hahaha.

You don't want to gain fat weight, you want to gain protein weight. Protein weight will stick to you longer, work better for you, and in the long run, give you more. With your training regimen Ron, you should focus on maintaining your workload and implementing these new eating habits to hit your weight goals.

But Ron may need to gain some fat if his Body fat percentage is low...The muscle needs room to grow, the reason alot of Bodybuilders get really heavy during the off season

in other words......... toast by bread and eat it with peanut butter.... 2 toasts before I go to bed and instead of 10 slices of white bread I should eat 10 slices of brown bread during the day time. besides that I should eat my vegetebles, patato's and meat for dinner and drink lot's of water and milk instead of soda?

Would that help?

You have a point, but if he's adding this stuff to what he's already eating, he's gonna be gaining weight steadily, and the weight he gains will all be positive weight. Kobe Bryant put on 20 lbs of muscle in 4 months of the offseason this last year... I believe Ron can put on a good portion of muscle weight, and make up for the rest in lean fat weight, by August.... if he does what I'm telling him to do.

Daily protein intake is imporant Ron. That's the most important advice right there.

No I'm talking to rtb. There's no point in gaining extra weight that you not use to just so you can gass out on the petich. Remember no subs unless your bleeding or your out for the rest of the game. Gaining weight won't make you a better rugby player.

Homeboy could gain like 15lbs and he still could gain more...RTB is ripped lean! I would guess it will be very hard for you to gain weight without takeing Lots of weight gainer and peanut butter.

Gman is right.... The scrums prolly ain't my business even if I make it to 185 but I figure some extra weight and strenght will help me tackle when I am in the back and it will protect when I get tackled.

About the juice...... No way, I will never ever do juice or roids. I either gain naturally or I don't gain at all.

You can definitly gain 13 lbs in 3 months. YOu will never gain 13 lbs of muscle in 3 months, but 13 lbs you can get in a month, just eat around 3800 kcals a day or more.

alrighty, I gained 1.3lbs in a week. I ate an avarage of about 4500 calories each day and about 180 grams of protein a day. It's hard to eat like that but at least I will make it to my goal like that. I updated the first post in this thread where you can see a chart of my weight.

if you're talking lean body mass ron, very unlikely unless you roid - but if you include a fair percentage of fat into the equation (which you can afford) no problems.

05-21-2003, 04:24 AM
like I said a dozen of times.... I want to gain some fat as well. about 50% muscle mass 50% fat mass. You've seen the pics, I can use some extra fat.

he can afford to put on a little fat along with the muscle. I used Cell-Tech. and I gained a lot of lean musle along with great strenth gains in a short time. and after i stopped the product i never lost the strength or muscle..just some of the fat.

When I was your age Ron, I gained a similar amount over a summer, it is very possible and not articularly hard to do. You obviously have a high metabloism to be at 6% BF, but there are work arounds.

Keep lifting heavy, go heavier than ever before, push yourself to new limits.
Be sure to keep up the eating that seems to be working so far.
Be sure to sleep well, at least 8 hours a night...that helps

Updated the first post again... I am in week 3 now and I am 177 lbs now. I gained 4.4 lbs so far in 2 weeks so I am going great.
Check the first post for the weekly chart. I'll keep you updated.
