Hussein Hussein is extremely confident of outboxing Nonito Donaire if they clash for the IBF flyweight title in late March as mooted by promoter Gary Shaw.
The Australian flyweight believes he has the skills to gain revenge over the man who knocked out his training partner Vic Darchinyan for the world title last July.
And Hussein has some heavyweight support from Australia’s most successful fight trainer Johnny Lewis, who guided five men to world championships.
``I give Hussy a great chance of beating Donaire,’’ said Lewis, whose legendary fighters have included Jeff Fenech and Kostya Tszyu.
``Hussy probably has better all-round boxing skills than Nonito and there is no fighter in the world with a bigger heart,
``Hussy is the most under-rated flyweight in the world.’’
Hussein’s brother, Nedal ``Skinny’’ Hussein, dropped Manny Pacquiao before losing on a controversial decision in 2000 in Antipolo City.
Hussein’s other brother and trainer Billy Hussein is piloting Darchinyan for the February 2 world title eliminator with Z Gorres in Cebu City.
He says he has always believed Hussy Hussein has the boxing skills to beat Donaire.
``Hussy is rated in the top 10 by the IBF, WBC and WBA,’’ Billy Hussein said.
``He turned on a Fight of the Year against Jorge Arce and gave Pongsaklek Wongjongkam one of his toughest title defences.
``We really look forward to fighting Donaire.
``Hussy has the speed and the skills to outbox him and we would go into that fight very confident.
``He is boxing brilliantly against Vic Darchinyan in the gym.''
Hussein lost a unanimous 10-round decision to Japan’s Hiroyuki Hisataka on December 24 but remains one of the most skilful flyweights in the world.
Hisataka (16-6-1, 5 KOs) had lost his last three fights but caught Hussein on an off-night.
Hussein (31-4, 24 KOs) went down 92-97, 95-97 and 92-98.
Billy Hussein said he believed the fight was a lot closer than the scores indicated and said Hussein deserved a draw.
The Australian's only previous defeats were to world champs Pongsaklek Wongjongkam and Jorge Arce (twice).

Good luck Hussy, but I think he will get outboxed.
Nonito has a good long jab.
Can't believe they are fighting in the United Arab Emirates.

I'm surprised he has been given the opportunity.

Husien Husien is done and never really had it to begin with. No way he can win this fight.

Agreed! Hussein never had the X Factor as evidenced against two KO losses, the second a brutal 2nd round KO both to Arce and defeat against Wonjongkam. Donaire by KO!

I wonder if there will ever be an article about the hussein brothers which doesn't mention Skinny knocking down Manny Pacquaio.

That's Pac before Roach got hold of him. Skinny had his shot against Oscar Larios back 04 on the undercard of Morales vs. Barrera III. He simply didn't throw enough punches in that fight and was out classed a little. Skinny was another one of those Nader Hamden type fighters from Fenech's early stable, whom build up his record fighting soup kitchen fighters and couldn't compete at the elite level.

That performance against Larios was very very bad.
He barely threw any punches.
All he was doing was just covering up the whole time, and letting Larios hit him at will. I do think Skinny was something special. And even Hussy was good too. But they always fell just short of a world title.

and that is true.
every article mentions something about skinny dropping pac.

Larios took him to 'School' big time! That was a shameful performance to be honest!
