View Full Version : Silva vs. Jackson
jabsRstiff 10-25-2004, 10:25 AM Not a whole lot of boxing over the past, & next, few weeks.
So....I'd like to know who has who in the rematch of a great PRIDE FIGHTING match from last year.
Though Silva is an engine of destruction, I'm actually going with "Rampage" on this one.
I think he was getting much the better of Silva until he engaged in one exchange too many. He got caught, hurt, & then brutally finished.
I feel if Jackson keeps it on the ground more than he did the first time, he'll win a decision.
Jackson has been improving his stand up game, but he should only use those skills when necesary.
Silva is a tremendous puncher, & kicker...Jackson should minimize Vanderlei's chances....

Is PRIDE legitimate competition? I know UFC is supposed to be, though I've heard K-1 has some predetermined fights.

PRIDE is excellent....through & through.
Sir_Jose 10-26-2004, 04:40 PM Yes Pride is legit. Its Japan's version of UFC and its 10x bigger.
I seen the highlight and it seems Silva beat Jackson pretty easy last time out I see no reason to believe this will be different.

oldgringo 10-26-2004, 04:51 PM Is this the stuff with Cro Cop and The Black Sniper?
Sir_Jose 10-26-2004, 05:15 PM Cro Cop is fighting on the undercard
Exciterx24 10-26-2004, 11:42 PM Tough one to call. Wanderlei has been invincible in Japan but it was a different story in the US. I think both have a chance to win this one. Maybe the winner could unify against Couture or maybe face Chuck Lidell.
Too bad my man Sakuraba is not the force he was some years ago when he became the "Gracie Hunter".

Bet you all your points Silva wins
jabsRstiff 10-27-2004, 07:02 AM Jose...
You saw clips....I saw the whole fight.
Jackson was manhandling Silva for a large part of the fight, until he stood with Silva a little too long.

I did not pick a favorite one. I don't bet if I don't have a clear pick like in this case.

Silva by brutal KO...again
oldgringo 10-27-2004, 06:35 PM What do you guys think of Michael McDonald?
Sir_Jose 10-27-2004, 06:51 PM What do you guys think of Michael McDonald?
I like McDonald. I think he is the only MMA guy I have seen that could really compete in the Boxing world if he wanted to. He's very good with his hands and he has fast hands.
I got his KO over Cro Cop
oldgringo 10-27-2004, 06:55 PM McDonald is my favorite MMA guy...he's getting over the hill but he still has very sharp skills, kinda like B-Hop.
I think Bob Sapp should get into pro-boxing so we can see his worthless ass get knocked into next tuesday. Two body shots and it's over.
jabsRstiff 10-28-2004, 07:17 AM Silva by brutal KO...again
That's fine & dandy....your pick.
&, it just may turn out that way. Silva is the fiercest mofo I've seen.
But, you're a fool for discounting Jackson....especially because you saw some "clips".
jabsRstiff 11-02-2004, 08:41 AM If you did not get to see this match.....FIND A WAY !
It was a great back & forth war. Jackson used the ground & pound ealy on. He showed better stand-up skills, tha he did previously, by easily deflecting Silva's bombs. Silva did manage to land enough decent shots (knees & fists) to open a cut over Jackson's left eye. The cut did not seem to effect Jackson....
He dropped Silva with a quick right late into the first round.
When the bell ended the first round, Rampage had Silva down, raining down some heavy punches, & one fierce knee to Silva's head.
It was hard to tell if Silva was hurt, though he wore a weary look on his face in between rounds.
The second round featured more of the same....though it appeared as if Silva had gathered himself.
He landed some good strikes early....& now it was Jackson who was looking weary.
Then it happened. Just as in the first fight between the two, Quinton Jackson stood & traded with Silva in one exchange too many.
Silva landed a crushing counter right that had Jackson lurching, out on his feet. Silva uleashed a series of his trademark Muy Thai knees into Jackson's face.
One final knee exploded into Jackson's jaw, sending him face-first, unconscious, throgh the ropes. As his upper body laded on the bottom rope, blood squirt upon the ring apron.
An exciting end to a fight that showed everything you want to see in MMA action.
Wanderlei Silva.....is the best striker I've seen in MMA.
His punches are thrown with vicious intent....& it seems like he has bricks in his hands.
His knees are absolutely ferocious.....& I don't see too many human beings withstanding them.
Sir_Jose 11-02-2004, 03:36 PM I downloaded the first fight that night.
I didn't discount Jackson I said Silva was better and he is.

Smack 07-07-2005, 02:05 AM The knees Silva threw to end this fight, where simply a thing of beauty.
The Knees from the first fight where better, 22 or so of them unanswred.
Smack 07-07-2005, 02:14 AM The Knees from the first fight where better, 22 or so of them unanswred.
I've got to go re-watch that fight, I don't remember those.
Squezze 07-07-2005, 07:08 AM Michael McDonald isn't really an MMA guy. I think he's only got one MMA fight under his belt, which was a loss to Ryoto "Lyoto" Machida. Pretty decent K-1 fighter though. He must be pushing 40 or so by now.
VulgarTheClown 07-07-2005, 10:31 AM McDonald is 38.
Prie is legit
UFC is legit
K-1 is Legit
If you guys wanna see some crazy action from some intense athletes check out shooto
Mr. Beelzebub 07-07-2005, 01:09 PM Michael Mc Donald's stand up skills are very underrated; he is just too short for K-1.
I remember when I saw him KO Cro Cop I almost kicked my TV off the stand.
Black guys with blonde hair = CroCop's kryptonite....
