Shearer and Bergkamp are completly different players.

Shearer was the better finisher and lethal from anywhere within 20 yards.

Bergkamp was the better footballer and to be honest he was a genius, he could score goals and make goals.

Ideally you would have one of each of those type and calibre of player in a team, a good example would be Rush and Dalglish.

agreed but i wasn't the geezer who compared shearer to bergkamp.... to me their a class apart

i love shearer, think he's a great player but bergkamp imo is a different class. the only player who could possibly match him so far in the premiership is zola, and certainly not eric ****ing cantona. i hate it when i see people saying he's the greatest player to grace our shores

Cantona was an artist on the pitch, the field was his canvas, the ball was his brush.

Zola was like the one kid you'd have in your footy team who just wanted to do tricks all day and score the flashy goals. Di Canio was the same.

Bergkamp was a genius and was all about technical skill and ability.

Shearer was a raw striker, bang em in from anywhere and anyway he could, remember that volley against Everton?

Henry however was a cut above in the Prem, he's got everything.

take away henry's pace and what does he have? he's a great player but he relies on pace, and he's rubbish in the air for someone who's 6ft tall

take away Bergkamp's skill and what does he have? Every man and his dog knows that Henry doesn't just have pace. Look back at some of the goals he's scored, the most outrageous cheeky goals have been scored by that man.

but pace is something thats god given, skill and technique isn't its something acquired by the individual. you see my point?

henry is a very good player but bergkamp is different class imo. look at his goal in the world cup quarters against argentina. unbelievable

Denis the menace was good, but even he would struggle to get into the new Arsenal side, Shearer was a better finisher and his work rate was higher, when Bruce Rioch bought him he was crap for about 18 months before he found his form, Wenger can't claim the credit for Denis, most people forget that.

i agree Thierry was an athelete but what happens when an athelete loses thier athletic ability they are'nt the same player IMO ,that is why crafty players like Zola ,Bergkamp are able to have longer career's IMO

Giggs has evolved well from a speedy winger with great dribbling ability ,he has adapted his game so he can keep playing beyond his years im not sure Thierry will be able to he isalready suffering from bad back pain etc

If asked Arsenal fans if they would take Dennis over Ade they would go for it i think ,Dennis is a Demi God to Arsenal supporter's

I think to some extent technique and skill is god given imo, some footballers for the life of them haven't got any skill, others have, thats why you have your attackers/midfielders/defenders/keepers.

surely defending is a skill etc

Scholes wishes he could tackle like Roy Keane aswell as playmake

the PFA bloke Gordon Taylor says they must clamp down on two footed tackles of the skillfull players, I say do the less skillful players not matter, break their ****in legs but leave Ronaldo alone, what a ****ing prick.

But you can't take his skill away. Bergkamp is one of my all time favorites. Absolutely perfect touch and tons of creativity

Why the **** does everyone call Arsenal the Arsenal, pissess me right off, is it because when they win something the commentator can't say they will be dancing in the streets of Arsenal the night, like Jeff Sterling when he mentions total network solutions as a place, always makes me laugh.
