Kurt Otto, founder of the IFL, recently blasted Kurt Angle in an interview saying that the pro wrestler who has been hinting at a switch to MMA, got cold feet after watching fights at ringside of an IFL show. Angle had been in talks with Otto about joining the promotion and was likely to be matched up with Ken Shamrock before deciding against it after the watching the sport live.
“He got scared and wanted to go back into pro wrestling," said Shamrock. "That’s okay, Kurt, I still respect you for what you did in the Olympics, but this is MMA. You don’t come in here, say you’re gonna do something, and then you don’t.

The word scared is unfair. Angle and Mayweather are both accomplished athletes in their own right and at least one of them is far more famous than any MMA star is or is ever likely to be.

Hard to call a near 40 year old man a coward if he doesn't want to fight in MMA. Kurt could seriously get hurt in there, especially with the neck problems he has had in the past.

He shouldn't have talked all that trash though.

Haha Angle is a ****ing moron.

I remember him jumping Chuck on the Radio saying "he'd take Chuck out" and "His wrestling would win the fight".

Chuck was getting irritated trying to interrupt and said: "So what? What are you going to do when you get hit? are you even a fighter?"

Angle kind of started backpeddling. Dumb homo, Chuck would cripple his lame ass with a set of punches. He should stick to that acrobatics show where those ******s wear tights.

Also I don't care if he wrestled on a broken neck. They shot him full of cortazone and gave him painkillers. That's why he almost collapsed during the bronze.........lol.

He's not a fighter, he's just a salesman. Chuck is a fighter.

Angle hasn't accomplished **** to say he can compete with these guys.

Also definitely not anything that warrants him ripping on Chuck like he did. He has yet to prove he can even take a punch in the mouth.

Man I remember Chuck all pissed off and annoyed at Angle. Almost like he got up from his chair while talking on the radio and was going to go outside and punch the dumpster or break a window or something.

Angle would get flat out murdered.

Also It's a good thing he backed out after talking all that ****.

Not sure I believe Otto. He is a PROMOTER after all. Especially the Shamrock part for 2 reasons:

1. Shamrock is most likely retired anyway
2. Both Angle and Shamrock admit Angle was impressed with Ken back when Ken was in the WWF and Angle actually was learning subs from Ken. It makes no sense why Angle would trash talk him.

Angle would make more money wrestling for entertainment.

It wouldn't be good to do MMA training and **** his body up ( a high possibility consider the huge pressures put on the body through all the stunts - more than boxing or MMA ).

It might ruin his career in the long run.

Besides.. would you MMA guys really want Angle? He's a medalist i guess...but surely the bastards pumped full of roids - cos they all ****ing are.

He won a gold medal at the olympics 12 years ago. Had he chosed to follow the path into MMA as opposed to WWF there's every chance he could compete with those guys.

True, but it is 12 years and several neck surgeries later.

There is a story backed by several other wrestlers that Angle and Lesnar wrestled each other legit once and Angle handled him. And now Lesnar is in MMA and will have a good test in Frank Mir (a BJJ BB) next UFC.

Kurt Angle was a GREAT wrestler and would've been a good fighter too. He needed the money out of WWF/WWE but why he stayed there so long I will never know. Atleast Lesnar was able to get out of wrestling with his youth and health.

From MMAFIGHTLINE.COM

Yesterday we reported here that Ken Shamrock and the IFL brass claimed that a deal was in place for Kurt Angle to fight Shamrock but that Angle backed out after watching a recent live IFL event. Angle responded to those comments today via JerryPark.com:
“That’s because they tried to force a fight with me and Ken in two and a half months. (It’s) not enough time to take off from TNA and train for a fight. They rushed it…I would have never been ready. They didn’t care. He just wanted PPV buys.”

He went on to say that:

“They are only trying to push my buttons - to start another angle. My rep in MMA is that I back out. No I don’t. Usually they back out of the deal because of my price. I want giant money. Usually they say they will pay me what I want then they change it and tell me they will pay me on the back end. I want it up front PERIOD.”

Glad someone posted Kurt's response. I can't be mad at that. Honestly though with they're syndicated tv deal I can't see them not really having the bread. All they're fighters are basically up and comers and honestly I think the big name coaches are probably getting paid better than the fighters. How can they not have the money if TNA can afford him and they're running a distant second to WWE far as wrestling and they're ppvs and gate take is terrible?
