mine was 6 weeks ago....i jabbed until my arm fell off...it took 5 sessions before my muscles got used to it,,, anyway i am addicted now and cant wait to get a year under my belt it....and knock some mutha#$#@ out!!!
Yeah i remember my first session, wasnt so much the cardio that was the problem because i had been wrestling for the past few years but i was so completely out of it as to how to punch and kick properly
fraidycat 01-07-2008, 07:04 PM Every day feels like the first day. When training gets easy, you're not trying hard enough.
HAH! first session was so intense that I couldn't stop anymore!
I'm so addicted to training now XD
FIGHTING_FLIP 01-10-2008, 12:14 AM i remember my first training session.IT WAS EASY..i have been training in my garage my hole life and i finally joined a gym about 2 years ago and i just wasnt getting tired..i impressed everyone at the gym..it was a GREAT feeling.
crazyheaddave 01-10-2008, 12:15 AM Dude, I actually had my first sparring session tonight. I fight 201+. One of those moments in your life where you don't remember anything. And I didn't get knocked out, haha. I've been training the past couple months and it seemed like everything went out the window. Didn't throw any combinations, nothing. Just trying to hit a jab. Got rocked a few times. But I'm actually going back tomorrow, because I learned I can take a punch. My coach told me tonight the first sparring session's the worst.
West24 01-10-2008, 12:26 AM i dont know if the first is the worse, because many times your opponent isnt going all out because they know its your first etc. i think the worst is when youve sparred a few times, but your still not great, and they throw you in with someone who is much better and doesnt go that easy on you. thats when it hurts.
crazyheaddave 01-10-2008, 12:32 AM Yeah, I was thinking about that as I reread that. I mean, this guy's a hard puncher, don't get me wrong. I believe he was taking it a little easier. But man, I came out, threw three really good jabs. And then he proceeded to rock me for three rounds. I threw one right hand (I'm right-handed) that got him in the left eye. That was the only really good punch landed the entire time. Gives me hope though. And a headache.
West24 01-10-2008, 12:39 AM well its good you stuck through it. did your trainer ever start you with semi sparring? i.e. only right, only left, only stomach, or anything else where you didnt know what was coming? or is this the first time youve ever done anything with out expecting it?
crazyheaddave 01-10-2008, 10:08 PM It's the first time I've ever done anything without expecting it. Tonight was my second night. I still got my ass handed to me but I felt much better. I knew what was coming. I played goalkeeper in college; I've been kicked in the face, stepped on, kneed. I still kind of cringed that first night. I've never done only left, stomach, etc. I'm pretty sure my coach was seeing if I had heart to take a punch, b/c my defense is sketchy. However, I have a hillbilly right hand which I stopped the guy with. He's 5'11" and I'm 6'5". I got extremely lucky.
