View Full Version : Ortiz Vs Machida.
Blair_Wells#32 01-06-2008, 12:23 PM Ed Soares, the manager for Lyoto Machida, has confirmed to MMAWeekly.com that Ultimate Fighting Championship officials have offered the Brazilian a fight against former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz.
According to Soares, Machida has accepted the fight and at this point, they are waiting to find out if Ortiz will accept the bout.
“It would be an honor to fight such a legend as Tito Ortiz,” said Machida. “I would like to see how my technique matches up against his.”
Machida is coming off of, quite possibly, the most impressive victory of his career. He submitted highly touted Pride veteran Sokoudjou at UFC 79 just 4:20 into the second round. The win kept him undefeated and improved his professional record to 12-0 (including four victories in the UFC).
A win over a veteran fighter like Ortiz would seemingly put him a fight or two away from a title shot.
Ortiz – who can be seen on the popular NBC television series “The Celebrity Apprentice” – was last seen in the Octagon in a draw with Greg Jackson-trained fighter Rashad Evans at UFC 73 in July of 2007. He is reportedly on the last fight of his current UFC contrac

I think ortiz can take him.
Not standing but just fight him and win.
ScrewasideMMA 01-08-2008, 08:00 PM I think Tito would win and I don't look for him to re-sign with UFC. I'm thinkin' probably Elite XC. It would be a solid pick up for them and maybe give them more legitamacy than booking circus act fights.
Blair_Wells#32 01-22-2008, 04:05 AM Sherdog.com is reporting that Tito Ortiz (15-5-1) has finally agreed to face undefeated Lyoto Machida (12-0) at UFC 85 on May 24.
Machida's camp had been pushing for a fight with either Ortiz or Chuck Liddell, feeling that Machida has proven himself to be amongst the top fighters in the light heavyweight division.
It is also likely that B.J. Penn will defend the lightweight championship against former champion, Sean Sherk.
2swell k-wells 01-22-2008, 10:32 AM card is sounding good with those 2 fights. I thinking the old back in the day ortiz will be fighting and kick some ass. Sherk I say has penn's number, beating some guy from TUF for the title aint that big of accomplishment. They both did but still, sherk is just too strong and will pass guard rather easy.

Tito hasn't finished a fight in a long time and Machida is a quality opponent, what makes you honestly think he would finish Machida who has never been stopped?

Tito will win via big head.

hahahahahahah classic. Rampage said it best when describing Tito, it went something like this:
"Big ****ing head man, his head reminded me of Donkey Kong"

Tito Ortiz expressed his displeasure with the UFC and an upcoming fight with Lyoto Machida earlier today in an interview with Fight Network Radio. Ortiz said that he was "expecting a bigger fight," perhaps a rematch with Rashad Evans.
Ortiz also hinted heavily that he may move on after his fight with Machida stating that he's, "just looking to get my final fight over with the UFC.“
Echoing recent sentiments made by Randy Couture, Ortiz appeared unhappy with UFC management siting disrespect as a chief concern.
“They said I wasn’t worth the money, I was worth no more than what I’m getting paid now, and I’m not a commodity to them anymore — I’m not as viable to them anymore,” Ortiz said. “That was a sign of disrespect.“
Ortiz believes that his future in the UFC is severely hampered due to his sour relationship with UFC president Dana White and his belief that the UFC doesn't care about their fighters.
“UFC is caring so much about the brand itself,” Ortiz said. “They could care less about the fighters. Fighters are a dime a dozen. They’ll keep coming. Dana is really out for himself and the company. He doesn’t give a sh** about the fighters.“

the UFC are exactly right, Tito hasn't won a meaningful fight in how long? QWhy would he be worth more money than he is getting currently.
He's acting as if he actually cares about the UFC, all he cares about is $$$

Who doesnt??? Fedor seems to love the dough also. Tito will win...hopefully, he beat Rashad and is too strong for Machida to do anything.

No I agree, but he is crying about the way the UFC does business when his own career is a business itself. They both use each other to make as much money as possible, he should recognise it and stop whining about it. If he wants more money then he needs to start winning fights.
the difference between Fedor and Tito is that Fedor is numero uno who wins his fights, Tito would be lucky to be top ten these days and doesn't win his fights.
If he does beat Machida it will be by boring lay and pray, throwing a few elbows to try and get a cut stoppage, he hasn't evolved as a fighter and is a one trick pony IMO. If he can't take you down then he loses the fight (unless you are Ken Shamrock).
