The Atkins diet is horrible for you. You will gain back any weight you lose from it shortly after it. What you need is a change in your lifestyle... eat more healthy always and increase your cardio. Atkins is the lazy man's diet, it doesn't promote cardiovascular health or anything that's actually important. If you think being skinny is indicative of being healthy, you are mistaken.

atkins diet is shocking if you are thinking of doing any sort of exercise as you wont have any energy through the lack of carbs. Honestly mate just stick to lean meats and fish ie turkey, chicken, salmon and tuna. Eat carbs but get them in you before 5 in the afternoon and load up on them for breakfast. For tea if you feel extra hungry give yourself extra portions of fresh veg excluding spuds. Also i drank 3-4 litres of water a day and also 3 cups of green tea. But dont jst skip carbs like the atkins diet says. Try it for one day then attempt to run its the worst feeling in the world u get tired after about 300m.

What ive jst said to you helped me lose 3 and half stone in around 4 months.

if you have a lot loose and are general inactive i would say give it a go, it has done wonders for the fattest people a know(my big brother and a friend).

but i would not recommend it if your a sporting guy

Stay away from the Atkins diet, you are doing more harm to yourself than good.

If you do atkins and then try to exercise you'd be wishing you died.

Atkins or any no carb diets are not good in the long run.

You don't need to go on Atkins to loose weight, limit your carbo intake but do not completely avoid them, carbs are good they give you the energy needed to exercise. Use slow burning carbs like wheat bread, brown rice, oatmeal before workout, use fast burning carbs like white bread, white rice right after work out . Eat fibrous carbs like green beans, broccoli, lettuce *yes they are indeed considered carbs because they fill you up like regular carbs) Avoid most fats but fat IS needed by the body but not mayonnaise, baby back ribs and french fries. Natural fats from fish, grilled that is not fried. Research the net to come up with an action plan, not an Atkins plan -- because did you know mr atkins diet of his own diet? yes its true. Get a good balanced diet from calorieking.com, exercises and you'll be ok.

As said by others, make it a lifestyle NOT a diet and Atkins IS a diet, You will never be able to stay on it for life so do your body a favor and eat a little carbs no and then.....

but if you still want a atkins diet plan:

eat everything from fatty burgers, fried chicken (without flour, breadcrumbs or cornmeal coating because those are carbs too) to giant porterhouse steaks with BBQ sauce and a slab of mayo on top...but i hope you got my point.

peace

dr atkins died from a stroke, now prove that it was because off his diet

the diet is not completely without carbs it just low especially in the early stages

what we realy need is more info from alex, age, height, weight, weight goal, if he is trying to compete ore just lose weight etc

on a side not, real mayo is mainly healthy fats(bout 75%) and is okay in small doses

he got a stroke because of the high fats which are allowed in the diet, leading to high blood pressure / clogged arteries.

Of course it will not be said that he died of his own diet because there are people who are still receiving lots of money from his book sales.

and off course critics will say he died from, so unless you can prove it you dont have a valid point
