View Full Version : Ever look someone in the eye...
The Jake 05-10-2003, 08:55 AM ... and think to yourself that deep down, this will probably be the last time you ever see that person in your lifetime?
I just saw my grandmother tonight (she cracks me up) and I seriously doubt I will see her again in this life, and it just made me incredibly sad to think about it.
I mean has anyone here ever encountered this?

realkaps 05-10-2003, 09:00 AM Not in a situation where I wanted to see the person again......
The Jake 05-10-2003, 09:04 AM Hahaha... that's a good point.

shadow 05-10-2003, 09:06 AM Life sucks
The Jake 05-10-2003, 09:17 AM I dunno if I'd go that far. Certainly has it's down moments but where would the highs be without the lows, you know?

Magic Man 05-10-2003, 12:42 PM yeah once...and then I ate him with a nice cianti.
The Golden Bear 05-10-2003, 02:04 PM Yes, Jake i have done that before.
It was my grandpa. He had cancer and I was going to see him. The hospital gave us a bed to put him on, but it was in pices. While i was putting ti together all we talked about was, the ins-and-outs of putting beds together.
I think when it was over. I huged him and told him i would see him soon.
Magic Man 05-10-2003, 02:05 PM :( I loved my ole grandpa...I miss the old codger.
Sucks how he was married to that *****.
The Jake 05-10-2003, 07:12 PM I remember watching my grandfather die. He was in hospital and they said he had a perforated bowel. The option was to either operate and he'd need to be ****ting in a bag from there onwards, with no guarantee he'd survive the op, or let him die. He already had dementia so there's no way he could have coped. Plus we knew he had too much dignity and didn't want to live like that. So whilst he was sedated it took something like 48 hours for him to die. He was in no pain in the end but when I had to talk into hospital to see him, in that state, from what he used to be, up to that moment, was too much for me.
Saying good bye in that moment and being that close to death was a lot to take in.

Magic Man 05-10-2003, 07:50 PM yeah jake, man that is some sad **** - its not seeing them like that that is sad, it's seeing them like that after everything they've accomplished in life and knowing what a person he was in his younger days in stark contrast with his now deflated body that gets you.
I remember when my grandpa died, I had a ****ing tutorial and lecture the next day that I couldn't miss, how ****ed is that.
The Jake 05-10-2003, 07:58 PM I had assignments due the Monday after he died (he died Sunday, I saw him on a Friday) so I know the pain.
Thankfully I had friends with High Distinction averages willing to let me copy off them for that weekend... come to think of it, they let me copy all the time :) JK
Yeah it's **** man. Made double worse by dementia.
Like those moments when they're lucid and they realise wtf is going on, and they like look up at you praying for a bullet between the eyes or something more humane so they can at least end their life with some dignity left. That's when it sucks the most.

The Golden Bear 05-11-2003, 03:17 AM I had a team mate get gunned down the day before we started our football season. That was ****ed.
RIP Lil Kev. We all miss you. You were my 1st round draft pick. Later Kevin.
Magic Man 05-11-2003, 03:19 AM this is the saddest thread ever :(
The Golden Bear 05-11-2003, 03:23 AM MM, yes but we are stronger people for it.
Life is like a weight room at times. You just got to push through, even on that last set, even if yo still have burnouts left... If you are lucky and a good person you have spoters to help you when that last rep seems to heavy.
Goddamn,
Magic Man 05-11-2003, 03:31 AM Gettin' all misty eyed in here dammit.
