How does he box if he needs glasses? If you guys recall on 24/7, he was wearing some glasses, with obvious prescription, how does he fight like that?

Even if you wear glasses you can still fight. Like it would be a bit blurry but I think that you can still tell a fist and where the head is etc. Basically if it's a little blurry you can still do fine. Or they just might be reading glasses?

they could just be reading glasses

Contacts? Lets say one of them fell out, then what? Boxing with one eye? He'd be ****ed

I wear contacts and I've had them knocked out while sparring on a couple of occassions. It's only been in one eye so I still have one eye with clear vision so I'm not totally handicapped but it's still annoying as ****. I really need to get lasic or something.

well i wear contacts. if it gets knocked out it hurts and stuff but 1 is better than none if ricky hatton doesn't wear contacts and is near sighted.

Well I thought contacts, but then the risk of one or both popping out came to mind. Ive always wanted to box myself but when I started wearing glasses my dreams kinda just felt short. Im nearsighted, meaning I can see like foot away from my face but anything more is blurry as ****.

contacts are a nuisance when sparring, especially when they throw a jab to your face and the glove/fist smacks your eyelids and your contacts move slightly out of postion making it blurry, then you have to blink like crazy and put it back into central place.....

I'm nearsighted and can't see for **** without my contacts......I still box though.

The great fighters don't need to see to know when a punch is coming. If I was a boxer, I would box with my eyes shut and knock a guy out and make the world be like what the **** just happened. That guy who had his eyes completely shut just ko'd that guy.... Its more then about seeing, its about feeling it inside you... Not penis

there boxers not shaolin monks from the movies, seeing someone throw a punch is a big advantage lol, if i had the money i'd get laser eye surgery, simple solution, don't want to do a mundine with contacts.

Last I heard, you're supposed to avoid contact sports once you have RK / laser eye surgery. Has something changed radically in the last couple of years?

EDIT: Nope.

http://www.webmd.com/eye-health/radial-keratotomy-rk-for-nearsightedness

"A job or hobby for which the possible side effects of RK would be a problem. Glare is sometimes a side effect of the surgery, which would be a problem for a truck driver, for example. People who participate in activities such as contact sports that carry a high risk of eye or head injury may not be good candidates for RK, because a blow to the eye in someone who has had RK very rarely may cause the tiny incisions to rupture."

I'm glad you posted that man. I was seriously thinking about getting PRK so that I didn't have to worry about my contacts being knocked out while boxing. Won't be doing that until I decide to stop boxing. Thanks again.

yea thats with the old style lasik, wavefront is lot safer and precise and i was told by the actual surgeon when i inquired that I could still continue, but on the other hand he would say that wouldn't he, it is very expensive though.
