View Full Version : A little backyard sparring.
boxingsmash69 12-22-2007, 02:19 AM Hello guys/girls,
Just wondering what the pros/amateurs/trainers/boxing-experienced people would say about this ponytail guy named AJ (black shirt) sparring with this guy named Stephen (brown shirt).

I obviously see little to no proper technique with both men.
It looks like the ponytail guy was completely... lost?
How would you guys counter the brown shirt guy?
I see lots of opening for jabs and straights...
Smokin' 12-22-2007, 02:21 AM the ponytail guy was you........you guys both suck. Really bad, even for non- boxers.
boxingsmash69 12-22-2007, 02:25 AM the ponytail guy was you........you guys both suck. Really bad, even for non- boxers.
Actually, those are my son's friends, having this spar at my house.
I really wish they would use headgear, and prefer they join a gym and do their boxing in there instead of my backyard. But, my son just wont stop begging me to let them do it. Oh well, at least I told everyone not to blame me or my son if they get hurt.
Sin City 12-22-2007, 02:33 AM what the hell does that guy think he is Roy Jones :lol1:
whatever it is he was doing he needs to stop and get some lessons because he looks goofy and like he dont know what he is doing lol
and LOL @ wanna be pretty boy floyd in the famous shirt with benjamin... too funny
JC Warrior 12-22-2007, 02:46 AM Get some mouthpieces if they didn't have any...oral lacerations hurt like a son of a ***** and are prety common when horseplaying like this. And never, ever, EVER spar on pavement w/o headgear especially when it appears there's a wetspot! That's just begging for non-boxing related injuries to happen, that would ultimately be blamed on boxing =\ If nothing else move it into the lawn.
As far as countering the brown shirt:
Stop walking in striaght without throwing punches or at least keeping your chin down / hands up.
Brown shirt looks like a southpaw, so circle to HIS right (your left) and try to keep your lead foot outside of his. Jab to the head while you turn him and as he turns or backs up to square you or face up drop the striaght right on top or into his chest.
Straight punches all day long. Brown shirt stuck his chin out so much you could picture a target on it like a punch-me-clown. Instinct may have you throwing wide, looping punches but stick with straight shots.
When brown shirt is bending over step in with a straight shot into the forehead. He has a thin enough mid-section that rolling out from punches wasn't a problem when he was straight up, but when he bent over it was a different story.
Brown shirt was constantly crossing his feet behind himself into non solid standing form. You can manipulate this with circling to his jab hand side (his right, your left) or even getting in close and turning over your shoulder to rough him up.
boxingsmash69 12-22-2007, 03:24 AM Also, a few other of his friends wanted to try out later that night.
JP = taller guy

skyler 12-22-2007, 03:49 AM The guy in brown would get completely schooled by anyone who can box, hes wide open for a whole variety of punches.
hello2007 12-22-2007, 04:11 AM this is sad. I hope these guys aren't serious about boxing because if they are, they would get hurt badly
mr tricky 12-22-2007, 04:53 AM the big guy in the brown shirt, walks around like hes doing some ****ed up robot dance and hes ****ing awfull, he would be beten badly by a very inexrpirienced boxer. he is really poor. pony tail gy is ok, he keeeps his hand up and trys to box, he could train and become decent however the brown shirt guy , **** me he is gay,.
SpeedKillz 12-22-2007, 09:22 AM i dono, if i sparred both those dudes at the same time, if it went over 20 seconds, i would quit boxing...
no offense to u personally, but that aint boxing, or sparring....
mickeyb 12-22-2007, 10:22 AM If your enjoying yourself, no harm in it. (although - some safety issues!!)
i mean, wear a gum sheild. It ain't for looks and your smile. A gum shield will stop you breaking your jaw - and i've seen nasty injuries. Plus..like someone said - being KO'd onto concrete is just asking for a fractured skull.
As for skills. Anyone with an hour or two of tutoring with me in the gym, i reckon, could beat the **** out of either of you.
I reckon, if we sparred - and if i wanted to be a mean bastard, i could beat you both up, really really bad. But..if id have been at that party, i'd have sparred with you, and KO'd you with some body shots to save your looks.
Get to a gym if you want to do it for real.
mgkirkpatrick 12-22-2007, 10:40 AM i couldnt watch more than the first round..
not much to say. AJ should have busted that phaggot's head.
Darkstranger 12-22-2007, 11:11 AM Please don't call this boxing!
It's two guys with boxing gloves, that's all it is!
If they wanna learn to box they should get their asses in a club like the rest of us!
:boxing:
kayjay 12-22-2007, 11:16 AM I wouldn't worry about "countering" either of those guys, b/c they don't know how to defend themselves. You just go after someone like that, fire some straight rights and hooks to the rib 'til he's not moving at all. Then you call an ambulance for him and bolt.
ferocity 12-22-2007, 11:35 AM I only watched 52 second of this childish backyard boxing match (on concrete! good thing both guys don't know what the **** they are doing) i would point to the guy in the brown shirt and can tell he is a floyd mayweather fan and thats his excuse for his stupid boxing style. I hope he got ko'd.
boxingsmash69 12-22-2007, 04:31 PM Alright, who out of these 2 would have a better chance of beating the "brown shirt roy jones guy"?

By the way, looks like poor little guy didn't know how to catch the the other guy?
What would you have done if you were the little guy?

They both really really really really need to work on footwork. Stephen needs to get his gloves up, I hope that wasn't an attempt to showboat, because he doesn't have the hand speed to do so.
lukeybg 12-23-2007, 08:09 AM i thought the tall guy in the brown shirt was a ****in zombie at the start lol what an idiot i bet he thought **** the footwork im **** hot. Im fairly new to the boxing gym but i am 100% sure i would dominate both of these in a very very bad way.
fraidycat 12-23-2007, 02:14 PM I watched about the first 20 seconds of this. Neither of them threw a punch in all that time. They are terrified of getting hit, which is the LAST thing a boxer needs to be. I'd start with that, were I training them.
Get them some headgear, and mouthpieces. But before that, get them into a gym, all of them, before they hurt themselves. Don't ever let them spar outside a gym.
Boxing is not punching. What makes a boxer dangerous is not his technical ability to throw a good punch. It's his psychological makeup; the ability to stand toe to toe and trade punches without flinching or without excessive fear of physical injury. Why is he not concerned about injury? Because he's learned to slip, block, parry, move, and to attack the whole time he's doing it. And he has also been punched hard in the face a few thousand times, so much so that it doesn't bother him. This is what makes boxers so dangerous in fights: Western boxing as an offensive skill doesn't in and of itself win fights. What makes boxers dangerous is the mindset that comes from years of hard work and immense pain, in and out of the ring: you can take a seasoned boxer -- a guy with, say, 5 years of hard training and a dozen matches under his belt, win or lose -- and even if you knocked his teeth out, his pulse wouldn't even change. You can't get that in a backyard and you can't get it by training yourself. Punching and sparring is only a small slice of the pie.
To spar without any formal training is like an overweight man who has never exercised in his life waking up in the morning and deciding to compete in a triathlon that afternoon.

Fraidy your posts are always so logical and spot on. You NEED your own talk show where we can sit around and talk boxing

By the way, looks like poor little guy didn't know how to catch the the other guy?

None really well both are still poor. Ill start with the guy in white.
He was crossing his feet.
Jab and right thats all he threw mostly at the other guys gloves all night long.
His opponent was always open for the body shot but rarely took it.
The other guy.
Was disadvantaged from the start because of his height.
But id like to have seen more body movement and him attacking the body more instead of headhunting all the time.
GrizzleBoy 12-23-2007, 03:30 PM I was waiting for the dude doing the cobra dance to throw a punch figuring he must have SOME experience the way he was trying to lure the other guy in.................................
Then he threw a punch and i pissed myself laughing.
JiggyTouge14 12-23-2007, 03:43 PM that drunken boxing brown shirt guy who does he think he is sugar roy mayweather jr? anyways just tell those kids to stop with that horseplaying and go to a real gym and spar real people instead their buddies since kindergarten. if they dont wanna do that they could always go to the TOUGE!
deh707 12-23-2007, 03:47 PM that drunken boxing brown shirt guy who does he think he is sugar roy mayweather jr? anyways just tell those kids to stop with that horseplaying and go to a real gym and spar real people instead their buddies since kindergarten. if they dont wanna do that they could always go to the TOUGE!
sounds logical.
always go to the TOUGE? that's them japanese mountains where they do those downhill drifts, eh? i don't remember any boxer training on touges. maybe japanese boxers.
JiggyTouge14 12-23-2007, 03:53 PM ya its just another option for them to do if they dont want to continue with their backyard boxing career they can go and do them drifts like the kids out here do.
major handz 12-23-2007, 06:44 PM leading with your left foot then leading with your right foot :nonono:
GhostInMachines 12-23-2007, 07:11 PM leading with your left foot then leading with your right foot :nonono:
i fight just as good with both hands i do it to confuse people some times.
whats wrong with that i mean if you have no idea what your doing and your like people i know that cant even throw a punch with their "weak" hand i can see that
GrizzleBoy 12-23-2007, 07:25 PM Me too im actually better as a southpaw i just box orthodox to train the other side of my body so I can go both ways. Ususally when i switch up people don't know wtf to do about it. In the case of these guys though anything they do is terrible.

yup i fight orthodox for speed or balance, then i switch and put my right hand out in front, and my jab with that hand is almost as strong as my cross but faster, so its like my power stance
roosta 12-23-2007, 07:29 PM Dude in the brown shirt would get beat up pretty damn bad with his hands that low and his head leaning forward.
GhostInMachines 12-23-2007, 07:51 PM "Dude in the brown shirt would get beat up pretty damn bad with his hands that low and his head leaning forward."
yea lol he was asking for it just leaning over at the beginning with his hands at his side
boxingsmash69 12-23-2007, 08:25 PM Seems like the someone else wanted to try out the roy jones guy:

What would you do when he goes super saiyan mode on you like that? (mega uppercuts, etc.)
I notice he likes to wait and counter with his telegraphed left straight.
His chin sticks out when does that, though.

most people that switch are not trained or just do it because they have no conventional stance or know how to stand properly in the video clearly both guys have no idea how to fight ,it looked like they were just leading with there pivit foot instead of twisting it and just leaving them self open to get caught off balance.

They need to get their hands up especially while punching.

lol. You are definitely one of the kids.
boxingsmash69 12-24-2007, 10:15 PM lol. You are definitely one of the kids.
Why? Just because I mentioned a feature in the Dragonball Z series (going 'Super Saiyan')? I referred to that because I am pretty sure it was/is a popular series, and everyone knows what 'Super Saiyan' means, he he. Just adding some comical sense into this, because this is obviously not any serious boxing. I don't even want to call it a "flurry", because it doesn't deserve that, lol.
Anyways, I am thinking of telling my son to stop this, it is pretty dangerous. I'll try to advise them to join a gym and do their boxing in there.
As for me, I might be a little too old to start (38 yrs old with back problems).

So which one are you? I'm guessing pony tail.
boxingsmash69 12-25-2007, 03:08 AM The guy inside the house watching Unforgivable Blackness (not shown in video).
short_hook 12-25-2007, 07:30 AM I think that was not a sparring session nor boxing. Those men should work hard if they want to enter in the boxing world.
JiggyTouge14 12-26-2007, 08:54 PM well kind of off topic but tell the guy, well im assuming hes holding the camera since his voice is heard very clearly to shut up im assuming that since you have these videos there might be more and others watch it i think they might agree thats its kind of annoying hearing his voice.
o my that idiot holding the guitar please dont tell me he attemps to box aswell.
AndersonSilva 12-26-2007, 11:12 PM thats a joke fukin looopy fiasco brown shirt kid haha has no skill , he cant even puch properly shyt work on you foot work its horrible my lil bro would fuk u up haha
JiggyTouge14 12-27-2007, 01:51 AM so brown shirt guy sugar roy mayweather jr im assuming he eventually gets knocked out am i right?

I doubt the blue headgear guy would have lasted 1 second against brown shirt, eh?
Fidayin 12-27-2007, 01:54 PM tell that lil guy he shouldn't bob and weave going backwards , it just doesn't make sense
Landon S 12-27-2007, 06:07 PM Instead of having your little girl fights on cement go on the lawn. Invest in some headgear if your girlfriends are wearing them you might get a decent fight out of them (also its safer). I heard one of your buddies say "expect to get hit when your PLAYING boxing"....need I say more.
