UFC turns down Couture vs. Fedor
It was worth a shot.
While there was probably the preverbal snowball's chance of making it happen, resigned UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture told the Chronicle that he took a stab at arranging a co-promotion between the UFC and M-1 Global for a bout against Fedor Emelianenko.
"We got an official offer from M-1 to the UFC to do a co-promotion for the Couture-Emelianenko fight, and they (UFC) rejected that offer. Really, the only thing standing in the way for that fight right now is Dana and the UFC. Obviously, M-1 is happy to do a co-promotion like that. It only serves to help them. I think the UFC is looking at it the other way, and it's like why do we want to help out another organization? The fans want to see that fight. At some point, you have to put that first."
'Some point' won't come before Oct. 11. That's when the second of Couture's two UFC contracts - the employment agreement - expires.

I guess Dana doesn't trust the Russian's. That is too bad, cause this would have been an awesome match up.

Dana just wants total control with anything he's involved in.

for some reason i don't see M-1 lasting long in North America, with only Fedor 2 carry the load for them,i haven't heard of any other major signings for M-1.
Zuffa will probably buy them out in a few years anyways than maybe we'll see Fedor fight some of the top in the UFC by than.

Such bullshit.
This would be a worldwide event and would sell millions.
Dana doesn't realize the type of promoting they could do.
The All American Super hero in Randy vs. The stone cold Fedor.
I mean, **** it, you don't even need to promote Fedor. He promotes himself with his exciting ass style. Dude's a killer.
**** the UFC, and more importantly **** Dana White.
****in' Virgin.

WOW im starting not to like Dana White's business attitide i dont know the dude personally so i cant elaborate on him as a person but i do know, he is trying to monopolize MMA and its not going to happen, if he really wants to make MMA better then he needs to venture out with the other branches... MMA would be greater if it was setup like Boxing, in the sense anybody could fight anybody and co-promotions and bids for promotions where levied out rather then sticking and having to fight on one contract!

True, he is always talking about how he wants to put the biggest fights together for the fans. But he forgot to mention that he wants to put the biggest fights for the fans...under his own conditions. Total crap!
