The following is an excerpt from an article that appears on TheFightNetwork.com:
UFC heavyweight Justin McCully has been offered a bout with Frenchman Cheick Kongo at UFC 81 “Breaking Point” on Saturday, Feb. 2 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, The Fight Network has confirmed with McCully’s camp. Currently overseas on a goodwill United Service Organizations tour in Iraq with fellow Team Punishment member Tito Ortiz, the 31-year-old has neither accepted nor turned down the bout, though his answer is expected Wednesday. If he accepts, McCully (8-3-2) would have six weeks to train for the contendership bout.

Looks like the script has been set.

Why the heck doesn't the UFC sign a guy like Chris Tuchscherer 10-0?
Or put up Jake O'brien 10-0, (isn't he already in their stable)?

There are plenty of hungry guys that have better records than Kongo 11-3 (4 wins by dubious decisions).

Justin McCulley? He's only 8-3! His last win was a decision!

The script on this is really obvious...

The UFC is pampering Kongo all the way to the top.

this is a keep busy fight for kongo id think. i dont see how they could justify mccully in a no 1 contender match

jake o brien is still trying to come back from a career threatening injury (to his neck i think?) he suffered in training. he might not fight again
