I remember it and it was a great fight but not as great as many people like to make out. I think it's because of the 2 fighters involved and also no-one expected it which is why a lot of people say it's one of the greatest of all time.

My perception if memory serves me correctly as I haven't seen it for a while is the fight exploded shortly after the opening bell, which was initiated by Hagler and the two warriors then went toe to toe for about 30 seconds of mayhem both totally disregarding defense. Of course fighting like this at that pace even for two finely tuned athletes takes it's toll. They continued trying to knockout each other out for the rest of the round but at a slower pace but it hurt Hearns the most who seemed totally spent. The next two rounds were good but not great and in the third the ref stopped it for a cut over Haglers eye so the ringside doctor could take a look, after resuming Hagler went right after Hearns and finished Tommy off. It was great but there have been many greater fights and better opening rounds IMO. Ray Mancini vs Arturo Frias was a better 1st round, and there have been much more brutal fights lasting alot longer.

Anyone ever see Dave McCauley vs Fidel Bassa that was one hell of a fight.

Im 18 so i wasn't around when this fight took place, but after the 1st round it was one sided. But there has been plenty of great 1st rounds and plenty of better fights. It is nowhere near the best fight i've ever seen. Jose Luis Ramirez vs Edwin Rosario 2 that only lasted 4 rounds and thats better fight IMO. I actually think Hagler vs Hearns is slightly overrated the 1st round was amazing yes, but after that it was one sided.

Easily because it was a better fight and it lasted longer, it doesn't matter if there not as good as Hagler vs Hearns we are basing these fights action wise.

Castillo and Corrales are nothing but bumsIn other words: If you fought when cuzfozzy was not alive(1994 and prior) then you're an old timer and a legend. Extra points if you fought in black and white!

Sure Castillo and Corrales were neither at the level of Hagler and Hearns but calling them bums is very disrespectful (they were both world champions!).

Boxing fans can appreciate both fights and the fighters. Hearns & Hagler for throwing their boxing skills out of the window to go into an entertaining brawl and Castillo & Corrales for having one of the greatest fights of the past decade.
