Cheers for letting us know. I will be sure to watch it.

The BBC keep showing boxing documentaries like this and the one about Jou Louis v. Max Schmelling, but not actual fights.

thinks its some sort of weird comprimise Stu, was interesting but turned into a tyson documentory by the end which is a shame, was interesting all about Sullivan and gentleman Jim though nothing new or not known to be honest.

Still entertaining enough.

I thought it was interesting in parts.

The bit that impressed me most was seeing Tyson in the Junior Olympics. He absolutely destroyed his opponents.

yip and he contiuned to do so til Douglas really, tyson peaked at a very early age, in fact the opposite of his antethesis Evander and Lennox .

Did anybody see it last night. It was about Jack Johnson and Joe Louis.

There was some pretty good clips of Louis in his prime.

I was just wondering what people think would have happenned if a prime Louis had fought Marciano?

loiuis would have kicked his ass. thats what would have happened.

Joe in his prime was probably the best all time heavyweight there has ever been. You can include Ali in that as well.

good programme though, its quite enjoyable.

the question i came away with was who would win between a prime jack johnson against a prime joe louis.
hard to choose?

I still go for louis, but its hard to gauge fighters from such an early era as the quality of the tapes / footage is usually so poor.

its also a different fight, I mean the rules were still being refined you know, people didnt have to go to neutral corners and could just jump on their opponents staight off, not saying that makes that much difference but it is a pretty different strategy to what was emplyed post Dempsey really, look how it affected the night of the long count!!!

p.s stu nice avatar ive got a dule signed framed poster of gatti and ward in my spare room!!!

Where did you manage to get that from!?

By the way, tonights episode is about the Mafias involvement with boxing, looking at the Sugar Ray Robinson v. La Motta series, and Ali v. Liston II.

STU SEE LINK MATE

All authentic via allstarsignings who also have a site with all forms of sporting signatures, the dual signed gatti ward cost me about 70 quid i think, got frazier, jake la motta as well.

most of the momorabillia is fairly priced unless oyu are talking ali, which is silly money. (500 quid for a poster  )

I don't know all the names or anything from the Boxing Academy as i've only saw it briefly but i'll watch the final on Monday night and I tip the big southpaw to do well, he has that awkward style that could frustrate anybody and the Irish guy Barney reminded me so much of Michael Gomez it wasn't even funny, trying to claim he hadn't been hurt by the Khan body shots :D

This is from a magazine.

The Fight: Taking a look at the 'Thrilla in Manila', regarded by many as the greatest boxing match of all time, which pitted Muhammad Ali against Joe Frazier.

This has been a pretty good series, pity it was only 4 parts.
