I have noticed that if you look at both these fighters, and analyze them you start to realize they are actually pretty similar fighters in the way they are very fast, can counter punch, fight inside and outside, and more often than not take a bit of a beating before coming out and winning the fight.

You look at Muhammad Ali’s record and almost all of his fights were in the later rounds, rounds 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 were all when he seemed to come alive and start to fight. With Mayweather it’s not so late but still looking at the later end of the fight rounds 7, 8, 9 10, and 11 etc.

And when I say beating I don’t mean a complete one sided might, I mean maybe taking some punches and not being at their best – mayweather in the first 3 rounds with Hatton, and Ali with Foreman – all though slightly bit more of a beating might be an understatement. But you see what I mean, who would win a pound for pound contest you will all have your opinions on the matter, so who do you think is better at “Boxing” as an art, and in general fighting terms. I mean you just have to look on google, or yahoo at both fighters to see alot of pictures are very similiar in the way they land punches and counter etc.

Their fighting style is absolutely NOTHING alike, and neither has their career been, so no.

lol this thread is so stupid theres no way mayweather could be ali since mayweather is so small compared to ali.
Mayweather is alot more defensive then ali but ali had gd defense also but he let his hands go more then mayweather and fought the best took big shots also but u dont see mayweather taking big shots ever.

For me it seems like your just searching for similarities. Yes they both have quick hands and quick feet and both are very ring smart. But that's where the similarity ends. Floyd is alot more defensive, using his classic philly shell to deflect punches off his shoulder. Ali used to drop his hands and move his head while dancing just out of range. I've never heard any journalist, boxing writer, coach or professional boxer claim that Floyd and Ali are similar in any way or form.

The fact is Mayweather is the greatest Boxer of all time.

His style and cleverness put him at number 1 imo.

This is a boxing forum, not a humor forum, take your jokes elsewhere.

Great post as always. They fight nothing alike. Ali moved his feet and threw lighting fast combinations, relied on his jab, and defended by moving. Floyd fights from a shell and potshots. Nothing alike at all.

Toney fought like Floyd at close range, but not at a distance. They have similarities. Other than being quick though, Ali and Floyd have no similarities at all. They fight nothing alike.
