i lift once a week, sometimes twice a week if i'm feelin up to it. depends on how you feel and your intensity throught the week's workouts.

Maybe he means off seasons as normal routine and on seasons as working towards a fight?

Some areas in Europe have an "amateur season", and gyms close for quite a bit of time for the off season, so training is to a minimum.

In the US there is no season, we fight all year.

I would look into getting a session with a trainer, and not one at Bally's or your standard health club. Look for a certified strength trainer who can tailor a basic power/speed lifting routine for you and teach you proper form and get you on your way.
