View Full Version : Whoaaaa!!!!
DA1CATAS 12-05-2007, 09:51 AM Uh I usually don't go crazy for training...
I tried hattons Body Bag training... 3 rounds. I could only go 3 rounds and still be effective.
3 rounds of just body attacks full strentgh each punch...
My coach just walked around and backed up into the corner with the body bag on.. and to mits.. and told me to land and pivot and turn and weave after 3-5 body combos.
all i have to say is that now i will be doing this atleast twice the week.
Seriously... I'm in shape and The energy it drained from me... I mean it was ridiculous..
And I thought maybe i just had an off day and got tired.. but i finished up with...
20mins jumping from *(after the 30 you start with in the beggining of training)*
6 rounds on heavy bag *(only 130-160 punches a round #3min rounds)
shadow boxing with 2 pound weights (12 mins)
50 pullups
50 dips
50 clap push-ups
Please someone look into this excercise and get back to me.. I have to see if its just me.
I'll be doing it twice the week regardless.

Do you have a new found respect for what he goes through in the gym to fight in the manner in whch he does?

I thought of this fight as a technical blowout to be honest.
But man... honestly... The first thing I said after the first round...Is
** ****! "Hatton has a serious chance"
My coaches just started laughing and we started the 2nd round.
I'm most likely not near mayweather or hattons level in conditioning...
BUT I'M CONDITIONED VERY WELL. 3 miles to the gym and back 3 times the week.
jump rope 30 mins b4 and after training...
shadow box 20 mins b4 and after training...
Countdown from 10 squat thrusts jumping jacks moutainclimbers push-ups everyt day...
I do that and much more every day..
Hattons work out almost killed me.. it felt like I was sparring 10 rounds...
I don't know exactly how many rounds hatton's doing... and if he's going all hard shots for 3min rounds or not....
BUT if he is doing around 10 rounds.. all hard shots..**** man... this fight is gonna be spectacular.
Mayweather better be on that bicycle the whole night jabbing and countering... The whole night.
nedcmk1 12-05-2007, 10:31 AM They use it at my gym. One trainer has one and he just walkes around the gym with it looking for someone to do rounds on it.
You can see people tryig to ignore him because they know..... it is pain.
I love it. I follow him around when he puts it on and starts eyeing up people to do rounds with.
I think he has some mental issues where he constantly needs to hold pads an a body bag for random people while yelling at them.....
If you are ever in NYC come to Mendez boxing, he is in after 7 mostly. He doesn't recognize the round timer either. He decides the rounds....
Gotta love the guy though, he'll wail on a speed bad hard so noone can hear the round timer, then when it is supposed to be break time everyone is still working because they couldnt hear the bell, lol. he walks away yelling "thats how you turn rounds baby, work work work" fanatstic stuff

yea man he sounds crazy... but it seems like he would make it fun..... sounds interesting.
nedcmk1 12-05-2007, 01:42 PM he makes it a blast, has a lot of fun with it.... hes not screaming peoples faces like an ass... but when your gonna drop and the round is over he yells just enough to make you push yourself till you are about to drop....
your tired, arms hurt, can't do another and he's burstin out "work son, work... c'mon, work... this aint no game... work... you wanna be champ? c'mon show me... work son work..."
Really nice guy. I wish I could train more with him
Hatton does that exercise 16 rounds in a row
Good ****.

lol.. now only if he wasn't so short and had a lil longer reach.
BUT I must.. HAVE TO admit... 15 rounds of that is ridiculous./.. EXTREME stamina.
James78 12-05-2007, 04:24 PM Yeah man Ricky peaks his training by going 15 round on that bastard, non stop full power shots. On his new DVD they attach a camera to Billy Graham (Hattons trainer) so you can see what it looks like to face Ricky as if you're wearing the body belt, shiiit son glad I aint fightin him, he's an animal!

3 minute rounds, 15 times.
That's what he does. He was doing 4 minute rounds when he fought Tszyu.
The guy is a serious animal. Technically, he is good. He is no Mayweather but he is a solid fighter with solid fundamentals.
He has made the best for himself having a 65 inch reach and being 5'5'' don't you think??
Southpaw16 12-05-2007, 04:45 PM So Hatton might be able to bring an offense. OK, that is one half of the equation. Can he defend himself against a puncher who is as accurate, fast, and smart as Mayweather? I don't think so. Hatton won't be able to get that many punches off against Mayweather.
kayjay 12-05-2007, 04:45 PM How is the short reach a detriment when you fight in that style? He needs to get claose and explode on you, he's not trying to throw long punches like a Klitschko or Pavlik. Long arms would detract from certain styles, and there have been GREAT short-armed punchers in the past.
SpeedKillz 12-05-2007, 07:22 PM never tried the body bag workout hatton does it. we dont even have one of those big ass things in our gym, but i may have to suggest it if its that good of a workout. good thread D...
fraidycat 12-05-2007, 08:42 PM I don't know what you're referring to. Can someone post a pic or a link? TIA.
DA1CATAS 12-05-2007, 08:46 PM Man if hatton didnt have such short arms gving mayweather a 7 inch advantage and he wasn't 2 inches shorter I'd say mayweather might have a problem.
Well if mayweather wasn't as skilled as he is.. accurate.. and take a lil of his speed away because it will be hard for hatton to dodge..
Take all that away and mayweather would have a problem lol.
but i'll say one thing.. His workout on the bag is INSANE... I'm gonna start doing it twice the week.

hatton is a face first fighter though.
Meaning he usually doesn't jab his way in and relies on the initial slip of the 1st punch to get inside!!!
That's why his reach doesn't matter as much as it should.
And factor in his footwork and footspeed....
And you have a great fighter.

deh707 12-08-2007, 05:15 AM how many ounces were the gloves you used on the bodybag? i think hatton uses 10oz, same as the ones he uses in the fights. imagine doing that with 16oz. :ugh:
