mgkirkpatrick 11-26-2007, 09:43 AM well.. he's the bouncer who 'killed' david hooks..
he had another win the other night.. a SD
what's the general opinion on here.. wishin him all the best? or think he should be rotting in a cell?
KoolWillie 11-26-2007, 11:09 AM I agree, how did he even get a boxing licence after that????

Option 2 for sure.
I can understand accidents happen in a scuffle, but when somebody has already left the premises there is absolutely no reason to go after them and king hit them. Hookes and his friends were already back at their car for ****s sake. Why did the bouncers feel the need to go outside and go after him?
He should have got 5 years minimum and should not have got a boxing licence. Oh and I hope he gets the **** punched out of him in every fight he has.
There I feel better already.

I agree 100%. Boxing doesn't need this sort of person milking it. Do they introduce him as David Hook's killer?
mgkirkpatrick 11-26-2007, 11:08 PM yeah he's definitely using the publicity to make the dollars. the main event on cards with only a couple of fights.. pfft. it's all pretty sickening.
Brunswick Assassin 11-26-2007, 11:16 PM I'm from Melbourne and can say that there was a lot of uproar whether or not Micevic should of been granted a boxing license. Micevic has been calling out Australian Light Heavy champ Tim Bell for over a year now, and Bell told Micevic and his people on KO Boxing Show to put up or shut up. Stay tuned!
popsie 11-28-2007, 10:00 PM Hi all.
I would have to say I disagree and if you had followed this story all the way to the end you would know the correct happenings on that evening... not just the original media reports.
A jury of 10-12 people found this guy NOT GUILTY so i don't think that people should judge when they don't really now what happened. This was 1 punch... I am sure that 95% of males in their younger days were involved in fights where they threw at least one punch.
Good luck to him!!! I live in Melbourne and have read the articles into he paper since this fighters pro debut and in no way have they ever promoted his boxing career from this unfortunate event.

yeah i can relate to that. my brother had a scare like that. got in a fight. happened to win. the other bloke hit his head on the way down and was in hospital for 3 days with a brain bleed.. easy to see how something like that can turn into a manslaughter charge.
for me the making money out of it seems to be in bad taste. that and the fact that it seemed like excessive force on a bloke as old and harmless as hooks. but you're right we weren't there. just throwing around some opinions.
anyhow popsie ill add you to our list of australian posters.. hope you stick around mate :fing02:
popsie 11-29-2007, 12:03 AM Thanks Mate.
I know a few people who know this guy and he used to box when he was younger.. so it's not as though he thought.. HEY lets make some CASH!! He has a talent and there is no reason why he should hide from that. It would be like having someone run in front of your car and then pass away... you wouldn't be expected to never drive again!! It was a very unfortunate accident. There are so many cases where this has happen and nothing more than a small article, but as Hookes was famous this guy has had a pretty tough time.
I have followed this case pretty closely as I was studying law.. and if you all just search Zdravko Micevic's name in Google you will get filled in with a bit more info.
infestacide 11-29-2007, 12:03 AM i abhor people who street fight, its rediculas, it wasnt even in self defense.
mgkirkpatrick 11-29-2007, 12:24 AM Thanks Mate.

fair enough fair enough. he won a SD on the weekend didnt he? did you catch that? any predictions as to how far he can go?
popsie 11-29-2007, 12:49 AM I did catch it- that was how I found this forum - was just doing a check on him on the net.
Pretty good cards on the night. He fought James Chan and won. Think they were fighting at Cruiser.
they are saying he has allot of potential.. but i suppose only time will tell. I suppose it would still be hard with people that are holding on to the past, especially those that don't know the facts.
infestacide i abhor people who street fight, its rediculas, it wasnt even in self defense.
It was actually- according to the evidence the other guy threw the first punch- and the punch thrown back by Micevic was mild-moderate.
.
infestacide 11-29-2007, 12:51 AM haha david hooks was an old man fool

Yes but the cricketers had already left the premises and were returning to their cars. There was no need for any bouncers not just him to follow them and start fighting. If they stayed inside none of it would have happened. Escort them out the door and leave them the hell alone. Their job and authority stops there at the door.
Sometimes bouncers tend to overstep the mark and get carried away with a bit of authority.

Yeah, they need to feel important.
popsie 11-29-2007, 04:48 AM I agree gents.. there are heaps of thug bouncers out here that are on power trips..
Once again after following the case I found out the facts... It was actually the duty of the bouncers that worked at this place to clear the area at the end of the night. The residents in the area had made complaints in the past about people when they were leaving this venue. The council then made an agreement with the Pub that in order to keep their license they would need to have their security staff moving people on from the street. On this night the group were being loud.. this is why the security staff went into the street to move them on...
their were like 4 security to a group of 10-15.
Sorry guys.. after following this case so closely and all the misinformation that has been reported.. just trying to get this story straight...
Gone off the topic of boxing but oh well.
Cheers.

99% of our threads are off topic mate so dont stress about that. interesting ot hear some of those facts. in no way do i think he did the right thing but some of those variables are worth taking into consideration.

sounds more like a job for local authorities, not a bouncer.
mgkirkpatrick 11-29-2007, 07:32 AM yeah it shouldnt have been left in the hands of the bouncers. when i was working at a pub that got fairly rowdy i remember the bouncers were in the same sort of position.. keep the patrons under control because if the cops have to do it there will be trouble alround. cunt of a job
popsie 11-29-2007, 05:20 PM Agree totally.. and this tragedy proves that it should be the responsibility of the police not of the bouncers.
In this case... I think the group of security were out numbered and were just doing their job. Things got out of hand and a couple of punches were thrown - this ended in tragedy. As Hookes was a sports/media personality the media jumped on it and reported what ever their emotions led them to.
I am sure if it was the other way around the public would have had a lot more understanding and be open to hear the other side of the story. This was an unfortunate tragedy. I am sure that not a day goes by where this young man doesn't replay the events of this night in his head, .
RIP Hookes - and best of luck to Micevic as I think he must be a person of great strength to get through what he did and to stand up in the boxing ring knowing that the public are going to judge him.
