Well more catchy production then alot of the tracks on Hip Hop is dead so if more of them are like that, maybe it's poised to have more mainstream success. One mistake I think Nas has made is not to separate his struggle and angst songs from his "playa songs" , he'll have it all in one song. He has separated them in the past with some of his album's like God's Son, and had some big singles. He can have commercial success while staying artistically true if he just does that.

It's definately not classic illmatic Nas, but it dosen't look like he is going in that direction any time soon. The production is good for what it is, but your right, he should be going in another direction.
