Dan Henderson is gonna knock Silva out cold with a right hand. Hendo has a huge heart and one of the best chins in MMA, I can't see Silva hurting him. People are overrating Silva and calling him the best p4p fighter, he beat an overrated scared Frankin twice and two gatekeepers in Lutter and Mardquart. Hendo fights better at 185, he will be the #1 p4p fighter after he destroys Silva, he is a living legend.

I will bet a ****load of points on Hendo when the fight.

I dont really know who to pick, dont know who to put my money on. Its gonna be good.

At the post-UFC 78 press conference it was announced that Dan Henderson will return to the octagon in March to take on middleweight champion Anderson Silva at UFC 82 in Columbus, Ohio.

should b an exciting fight, but i'm with u guys, i think henderson will win this fight, i've said for awhile now that the way 2 beat silva is 2 take him down an pound him out, and henderson is just the guy 2 do it.

yeah, im looking forward to seeing this fight. although i think silva's standup looks sharper/more technical. i think dan will handle whatever silva brings, get the fight to the ground and finsh it one way or another. dan henderson will be the next mw champ. cant wait.

Wow!!

Great to see that they finally talked Dan into dropping down a division to face Anderson. I was also hoping they would sign Linland to fight Anderson.

Glad they're making this fight.

I get Hendo as well.. should be a good fight, but Silva's MT clinch isn't gonna work against Dan.

just some stuff henderson had 2 say on mmaweekly.com

After the Ultimate Fighting Championship finished with its return show to New Jersey, UFC president Dana White announced a middleweight title match-up between champion Anderson Silva and the only Pride champion in that weight class, Dan Henderson. They will meet on March 1 in Columbus, Ohio.

Henderson won the first ever 183-pound division title in Pride by winning a Grand Prix tournament, but this will be the first test for him at this weight since returning to the Octagon.

“I’m right in between the two weight classes,” he said in an interview with MMAWeekly.com about his drop to the middleweight division. “It’s pretty easy to cut the weight.”

Since his debut in the UFC, Anderson Silva has run roughshod over the middleweight division, but the Team Quest fighter will likely present the toughest test for the champion to date.

“He’s tough,” Henderson said about Silva. “He’s definitely proven that he’s a force to be reckoned with.”

The announcement of the title fight also answers questions about his long-term plans with the UFC.

“I’m kind of in the twilight of my career, don’t have that many years left of fighting,” he stated. “I don’t want to jump around at all. I was in Pride for seven years, so I kind of like to stay where I’m at and build relationships that way.”

While the Pride champion stated he was hoping for a fight in December, waiting until March gives him the chance to try and add another title to his resume. But Henderson hasn’t given up on another shot at the light heavyweight belt as well.

“I would definitely want to fight for that title again,” said Henderson about the 205-pound division championship. “(I’ll) see what I’ve got to do to get back there.”

First things first, Henderson will have to get past Silva on March 1.

Would be bad for Henderson to lose 2 belts in 2 fights.

Im not saying its gonna happen or anything, My pick would be Silva, his stand up is slick, probably the best I've seen in the UFC.

I'll bet you all you got if your willing to put em on the line.

And there's a difference between counting a guy out and picking his opponent to win, btw.

When Hollywood goes in for the takedown, the spider will beat him back up.

Hendo is primarily a Greco guy meaning he mostly works from the clinch. Sure he can hit a good legs shot, but thats not what brought him to 2 olympics.. in Greco you cant touch the legs. Not saying he never shoots, but he is not reliant on shots like many wrestlers you see.

I was wondering what the difference was. But what does he do in the clinch? I would doubt that they allow punching in he Olympics.

I'm personally not very experienced in Greco aside from some training sessions so I'm not the best person to answer, but there's some throwing, a lot of jockying for better position, and also various holds which lead to takedowns, such as front headlocks, which is basically a standing guillotine with an arm in (though your technichally not suppose to choke your opponent.. it happens sometimes but its basically a position to work takedowns from). This front headlock position is one that Mat Lindland loves to use, he'll usually either try to knee or let go with one arm and land uppercuts untill his opponent gets away. Note that these moves are used in American folkstyle (collegiate) wrestling aswell, but its the Greco guys who are so dominant from these positions. Randy Couture is also a Greco guy, btw.. Mark Coleman by contrast is a freestyler, and if you've seen many of his fights, he tends to shoot for the legs very often. The Greco guys, like the ones I've mentioned, tend to work from the clinch more using a lot of "dirty boxing" and just straight manhandling their opponents to drain energy. I'll try to dig up some vids later or something.
