So i'm a beginner and i've been at the gym about 6 times so far... i learn quickly but the one thing im struggling with, and anticipate that i will struggle with for a while is the jump rope.

no matter how long i do it i dont seem to be making progress, the rope keeps getting caught by my feet.

does anybody have any tips/suggesstions? When you first started and had trouble, what did you do to improve? What did you realize you were doing wrong?

Maybe its the rope? Try a bigger rope.

there are a few things you can do to improve! keeps your elbows tucked in is one, jump higher till you eventually get a good rythm is another! also rather than trying to jump over the rope let the rope do the work! by this i mean as it comes over your face make sure it skims or bounces off the floor, then it should start getting easier if you do all these correctly!

start raising one leg high to almost touch your stomach.....

or hop on one foot and switch after 3-5 hops...

you'll get the hang of it.

honestly when i first started i hated skipping and wud never do it because i sucked at it . i know your probobly tired of hearing it but skipping is pretty much all about practise , you do it enough and itll just click. i always cud pretty much do basic skipping jus up down up down .

all it really took was one day that i pretty much dedicated to learning how to skip , got in front of the mirror at the gym and watched my feet to pick up wut i was doing wrong . by the end of the day i was doing , 1 foot , leg cross , doubles , the shuffle , rope crossovers . not perfect or anything but i had the teachnique and rythem down .

all in all jus work ur ass off at it and soon enough youll be skipping just fine.
