According to The Fight Network, UFC president Dana White was asked by a reporter during a Monday press conference to comment on Kimbo Slice’s performance this past Saturday against Bo Cantrell at EliteXC: Renegade.

White said he did not watch the bout but still offered some comments.

“The guy is a tough street fighter,” White said. “I don’t know much about him. He’s a street fighter, and he’s making the switch to MMA. Who knows what could happen to a guy like that.”

While White’s comments could hardly be construed as complementary, they were still a huge departure of his previous statement last May, in which he was not only critical of the Cage Fury Fighting Championships for making a match between Slice and Ray Mercer, but also Slice himself.

ProElite.com (SamCaplan.ProElite.com) was informed by sources within Zuffa last week that White’s stance towards Slice’s involvement in MMA had softened.

It would not be surprising if the UFC pursued Slice once his current contract expires if he’s able to perform well against name opponents.

I only want to see Kimbo vs Stand up fighters I dont want to see him loose because someone twisted his arm or jumped on his back in chocked him, I want fighters going heads up with him and beat him at his own game, he should of started boxing instead of MMA but I guess he has a better chance with MMA.

He is classless. Check out how he acted once Hamil beat the breaks off of him and he acted like a real ***** when the results were called. He didnt even show sportsmanship towards Hamil. I don't know if you guys notice but there is no chin underneath Kimbo's beard...so I don't think anyone can knock him out unless its a really strong punch to the side of his head, because unless you can perform better evidence, I just don't think he has a chin there, maybe was surgically removed? I think anyone thats is as big and strong as Kimbo is good for any sport including MMA, bottomline is he's a threat and he has the heart to hang with the pro's, it isn't fair to rule him out or hold a certain prejudism towards him due to things he can't change or alter, he did what he did and he was so much demanded by the people that it led up to his MMA upbringing.. he has a cousin Emmanuel Augustus who is a pro Boxer so he isn't new to the fight game, he did a long stretch and according to him he was fighting a lot, some he won and some he lost but the dude is a fighter..
