LOL Here's Camron playing lines from the songs of rappers that Jay has stolen from, then he plays Jay's version of those same lines. Don't know if this was posted before.
heat27 11-09-2007, 01:47 PM i heard this a long time ago.
its funny how many lines jay has jacked lol
Kobe Bryant 11-09-2007, 02:25 PM Yeah I heard that a while ago too. Props for it. I'm not the biggest Jay fan by any means. But to his credit a lot of up and coming rappers have jacked his flow and whole style as well. So it goes both ways.
MetalVomit 11-09-2007, 02:59 PM utterly hilarious. I used to have it on mp3, don't know what happened to it. Rappers borrow, or use lines from other rappers from time to time, but I cannot think of a single rapper to use other rappers lines as much as Jay-Z. It's downright laughable.

Well that's true, but most of those other rappers aren't called the greatest of all time by some people.

Yeah but it shouldn't matter a lot of other artist take lines too. It's just part of hip hop. He's one of the greats to me. But not the greatest.

Other rappers that people talk about as the greatest of all time steal lines?
I don't know anyone that you could put in that category that steals even one tenth as much material as Jay Z does, many of them don't really steal anything.
Young Legend 11-09-2007, 08:49 PM Yeah Cam got em.... lol
Its all good... HOV still that dude

What are you talking about? Don't get it confused I'm not defending Jay in particular. Many times people use others lines in their song. If you haven't noticed than you need to listen to more music.
It's not really stealing. I think a lot of people know where the lines come from. Nas has said a Rakim line and flipped it. Does it mean he's not great?
Em has taken a couple of lines. Snoop's first album had a remake of Slick Ricks joint. Does that make them theives?
The list goes on and on I can name many who are considerd great who have either dircetly quoated someone's line or slightly altered them.
Smokin' 11-09-2007, 10:51 PM Everyone bites a line here and there. Nas has bit Rakim & BIG too. He even bit Slick Ricks whole creative style on Destroy & Rebuild.
Cam has jacked Mobb Deeps lines. Even Lauryn Hill bit Boogie Down Productions. Fact is, everyone does it.

I think Res was just pointing out the fact that not many, if ANY bite more lyrics than Jay-Z. I can't recall Slick Rick ever telling a story backwards though. Which song?

C'mon hip hop groupie. Destroy and Rebuild isn't 'Rewind'.

My sincerest apologies, I was drinking earlier this evening. Nas certainly does rap just like Slick Rick in Destroy in Rebuild. No one bites more than Jay-Z though:banana:

Meh, I'm a Jay fan and I agree that Jay has bitten BIG alot but his career is not what it has been because of those lines....although the first line in I'm A Hustler (Give it to Me) really amped up that song.
RHETOЯIC 11-10-2007, 12:52 AM Delivery is so underrated by hiphop heads.
I don't know why.

Oh I know your not defending him in particular, I'm just saying it's different here. Nas has said over and over again that he idolizes Rakim and we know he is in part patterned after him. That's understandable, especially since the lines are usually already well known and iconic in Hip Hop culture. And Camron also made the point that if Jay was just taking from Big that would also be understandable. Jay was in a way kind of like Big's protege in the same way that Nas was Rakim's. I would be cool with that. Question is why is he stealing from these other people, and with such frequency, especially from someone like Nas! And we're not even talking about just from Illmatic. He even stole a line from a guess verse that Nas spit on someone else's song. :ugh: years ago this guy posted this loooong page of stolen lyrics from Jay, but I never saved it, I wonder if I can find it again. Cam didn't scratch the surface lol.

I agree.........somone like GZA can never be considered in the top 10 because of this.

I think some people are thinkin that if he has jacked that many lines from well known artists, what might we not know when it comes to guys that nobody has heard of.

Yeah your right (that's why I personally think that Eminem is wack, because of delivery). I think in this particular discussion it's about the fact that Jay is always heralded as one of the greatest lyricists, that's why this is an issue; but in Hip Hop delivery is always definately a factor.
THE REAL NINJA 11-10-2007, 09:21 AM LMAO J gets some payback...........

Yeah it's cool to disagree. Hey what did you think of American Gangster?
MetalVomit 11-10-2007, 03:20 PM that's hilarious how they make it seem like Cam'ron is talking **** to himself. lmao.

Well it was better than his last album. The tracks i liked best were No Hook and Success. I liked Jay's line better than Nas' on it (even though he lifted a line from Eminem on that one lol).
