View Full Version : Vic not the fighter he once was...
newforce 11-09-2007, 07:22 AM Any1 noticed how vic darchniyian doesn't seem to be the fighter he once was.
In his last fight in Auburn, he looked really sluggish and slow, and he got wobbled by the other bloke. Even his trainer is saying that he has lost his speed, and I could tell myself from that fight that he looked like an old man.
Any1 else noticed this?
mgkirkpatrick 11-09-2007, 11:57 PM a guy like darcinyan is never going to have a long time at the top. takes too much punishment.. style isnt suited for longevity.
i dont think he's changed that much.. more like people are starting to more accurately see him for what he is.. wild slugger with a decent chin (we thought)

I agree, Vic doesn't have great boxing ability for starters and he hasn't fought the greatest of fighters. Did anyone see the fight which he won the World Title? I don't have it, but it's worth watching. I think the fireworks served Vic well that night.
moochi 11-11-2007, 04:03 AM notice it: hell yeah.
its very common for fighters of his style/hype/confidence to end up that way. they live on adrenalin and self-confidence, once that is taken, it is very very hard to get back...perfect example is Jeff Lacy, even Roy Jones to an extent.

Yeah that's pretty spot on. Even NAZ couldn't come back after his loss to Barrera.
Vic will get beaten soon as he steps up against a fighter with decent boxing ability. Who has he been fighting all these years? I haven't followed him that closely.
Brunswick Assassin 11-11-2007, 06:21 PM I've said this on one of the other threads that KO's like the one he got off Donaire more often than not can ruin a fighter's career. Up until the Donaire fight Vic looked invincible but how things can dramatically change after a punch like that! It shows by Vic taking nearly an eternity to KO a street corner kid in his last fight!
brently1979 11-11-2007, 07:07 PM Vic was schooled in the Sweet Science at "One Dimension Fighters 'r' us".

well yes and no. even if he didn't get KO'd, but simply outboxed it still would have made him lose that "i'm invincible" self belief....especially when his boxing skills were very very average...........he was relying on his hype and punch.
so basically its like a neighbourhood bully, leader of the gang, getting ass raped by a kid with glasses in front of a big crowd.
some boxers, who are skillful, get KTFO and actually come back...Lennox Lewis did this on multiple occasions....there are others too...Wlad, etc....but there are skillful intelligent fighters...not mugs.
Undefeated 11-13-2007, 03:01 AM He's a string of KO's waiting to happen. Just wait untill he gets in with someone who can fight. Even in a rematch with Donaire.
newforce 11-13-2007, 03:52 AM I was always of the thought that he would win that rematch with Donaire, as he sort of walked into that hook, and wasn't really taking a cautious approach.
After seeing him in his last fight, I'm starting to think otherwise.

He kind of struggled a little bit with that bum he fought a month ago, Vic is so beatable it's not funny.
