Wow! Nalula kami sa dami ng facts mo. Bro.
Heto naman ilan na local Pinoy facts:

1) Of the 500 known coral species in the world, 488 are found in the Philippines.

2) Of the eight known species of giant clams in the world, seven are found in the Philippines.

3) Of the seven living species of marine turtles worldwide, five are reported to be found in the Philippines: the Green Turtle, Hawksbill, Leatherback, Olive Ridley, and Loggerhead.

4) “Tagala” - the Philippines’ first Filipino-Spanish dictionary was printed in 1613. This was 25 years earlier than the first book ever printed in the United States.

5) The Philippine Eagle is the 2nd largest bird on the planet, next only to the American Condor, but it is the largest eagle dwarfing even the more famous American Bald Eagle.

6) The island province of Camiguin holds the distinction of being the most volcanic island, per sq. kilometer, on earth. It is also the only place in the Philippines which has more volcanoes (7) than towns (5). Mt. Hibok-hibok is the most well-known of its active volcanoes.

7) RA 8973, signed by then President Joseph E. Estrada in February 2001, created the province of Zamboanga Sibugay. This newest province located in the Zamboanga Peninsula is composed of sixteen municipalities and gained prominence because of election protests filed after the last senatorial election.

8) The symbolic name for the Philippines, Juan de la Cruz, is not a Filipino invention. It was coined by R. McCulloch-Dick, a Scottish-born journalist working for the Manila Times in the early 1900’s, after discovering that it was the most common name found in government blotters.

Coffee Drinkers Be Warned!!!

Large doses of coffee can be lethal.

Although it is almost impossible to die from caffeine through normal coffee drinking, it could be done. Ten grams of caffeine, or the rough equivalent of 100 cups over 4 hours, can kill the average human.

So, if you think you can drink 25 regular cups of brewed coffee per hour and keep it up for four hours, you could actually kill yourself,

- - - either from caffeine overdose or drowning. Ha ha ha ha ha!!!!

Sinong may gawa non?
Kung sinong may gawa as in brand name, I am not sure.

But I can explain how the golf balls got there.

I hate correcting myself but I am doing so, with apologies to anyone who may have been misled. It was Alan Shepard, not Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin, who left the golf balls on the moon surface.

Alan Shepard was the commander of Apollo 14, the third manned mission to land on the moon. He smuggled a makeshift six-iron golf club and two golf balls (not three, as I mentioned earlier). His drive sent the balls about 400 yards away (365 meters). Apparently, the distance was too far for the crew to take the trouble of recovering the balls.

Q: What is Mr. Abelardo Aguilar’s claim to fame?

A: He is a Filipino scientist credited for the creation in 1949 of the antibiotic erythromycin. This drug is used to treat a wide variety of respiratory tract, middle ear, and skin bacterial infections. That’s the good news.

The bad news is that neither Aguilar nor the Philippine government received any royalties, - - - Aguilar, being an employee of a foreign drug company when he made his breakthrough accomplishment. The American drug giant Eli Lilly was subsequently granted U.S. Patent #2,653,899 for the drug in 1953, and has since earned billions of dollars from it.

Q: Who introduced the English language to the Philippines?
A: The Americans?

Wrong! The Philippine natives (Filipinos were not yet called Filipinos then) were introduced to the English language in 1762 by British invaders. The British briefly occupied Manila from 1762 up to 1763 as a consequence of the Seven Years’ War between Spain and England. The Americans came to the Philippines only in 1898, as the Filipinos were rebelling against Spanish rule.

Currently, the Philippines is the world's 3rd largest English-speaking nation, next to the USA and the UK.
