View Full Version : Anyone ever work at blockbuster or know anything about it? spinksjinx 10-22-2004, 12:57 PM I just got a call from them and have an interview wednesday...Anyone know of any details? abdiel2k3 10-22-2004, 01:37 PM I just got a call from them and have an interview wednesday...Anyone know of any details? i think but this is just speculation they are major players in the snacks and popcorn industry o ya they also dabble in movie and video games sale and rental industry but if you want to impress them make sure to let them know that you have seen one or two movies in your lifetime mic573 10-22-2004, 03:09 PM They work very long hours at blockbuster. People who use to work there told me they didn't get out until almost three in the morning most of the time. Bubba Chunday 10-22-2004, 03:10 PM U mean Blockbuster the video rental store? m00ks 10-22-2004, 03:14 PM I just got a call from them and have an interview wednesday...Anyone know of any details? Well, my friend use to work for BB. One of the most relaxed places you can work in. All you do is watch movies the whole day and process rentals and returns. Easy-breezy. At least better than that hell hole of a toy store you said you worked in. :) elveiel 10-22-2004, 03:15 PM I just got a call from them and have an interview wednesday...Anyone know of any details? No, i go there a lot and it looks easy! the staff are just chillin, having a laugh and putting movie's on the shelf. As long as the pays better than your current job then the move should be fine. spinksjinx 10-22-2004, 03:34 PM Yeah I heard they start you out with $7 an hour which is tremendous for a college job.... I put down that I could only work 10-20 hours and only work mornings and afternoons, I have classes in the evenings so if they decide to hire me no staying until midnight :) The store I work at now is horrid and cant be any worse...Except if I tell blockbuster can work evenings and they schedule me like 10-5 everyday...But I said I only want like 10-20 hours and cant work saturdays except in the morning... So if they still want to hire me after ALL that, then it is gravy if not...Back to the toy store. spinksjinx 10-22-2004, 03:35 PM No, i go there a lot and it looks easy! the staff are just chillin, having a laugh and putting movie's on the shelf. Hell my job at the toy store looks fun for people who dont work their....Management kills a persons Morale in a workplace. LuKahnLi 10-22-2004, 03:39 PM I am told that Blockbuster has a uniformly ****ty Adult Films Section. Or worse, none at all. DamienFromTheAshes 10-25-2004, 01:11 PM Blockbuster typically has no adult movies, thank goodness. I work at Movie Gallery myself. Blockbuster is not going to pay $7 an hour though, I doubt. I get $5.40 an hour, but I'm in South Carolina, so maybe it's b/c it is a poor state, but you'll get around the equivalent to that. Maybe a little more since Blockbuster is a bigger chain. The job is pretty easy, but definitely annoying. When people ask if you have a movie in, if you don't have it in, they do this really annoying thing where they want to look at your counter as if you're hiding the movie they want. Customers are ultimately a huge pain in the ass, like any job. But let me put it in this perspective...I used to work at a strip joint, around drunks, and the customers were no worse *******s at the strip joint than they are at the video store. Don't work at Blockbuster unless you're doing it for the free rentals, like me. If you're not that big into movies, don't bother. Find something that pays more. As for getting the job, just tell them that you love movies and you've gotta be around movies. Just use good basic communication skills and you can get almost any job. Be sure to tell them you like team work and all that crap. And if they ask how long you plan to work there, say for life or some crap. I put on my app that I didn't plan on staying at Movie Gallery long and they didn't want to hire me. But I got in anyhow. |
