Haven't heard the whole thing. But the beats seem alright nothing outstanding. I think he should have put Kanye on the boards for this one. And just take the soulful uptempo Kanye beats. Like the ones on Blueprint.

5 mics from me...Pray is insane. How about Party Life? Sounds like somthing from The Blueprint. I think this is on the level of the Blueprint, not as good but on that level. I think the Blueprint is better though. But thats why I gave it 5 mics, but again its just my opinion...Its almost not fair to compare to albums such as the Blueprint though because this was a concept album, the song schemes are different. EX: The Rulers Back: was talking how great he is and how hes back...Pray is a completley different topic. So its hard to compare.

Check this song out...for those who havn't heard it.

It's okay background music, but there's nothing on the disc that's going to make me replace The Blueprint, Reasonable Doubt, or Vol. 2 as the most oft-played Jigga on my playlist...

I'm really feeling this album.

It honestly could be my favorite since The Blueprint.....which was my personal soundtrack to 9/11.

I'm not a hater, I promise. I like Reasonable Doubt, Vol.2, Vol.3, LOVE Roc La Familia, LOVE The Blueprint, I like The Black Album a lot, but Kingdom Come and American Gangster are sub-par rap albums. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and listen to it a couple more times before I formally review it :grouphug:

I disagree about Kingdom Come and American Gangster. To me Kingdom Come was not a classic album but it was good. I think American Gangster is great, I think it is better than Kingdom Come. Do you like it better than Kingdom Come so far? Its all good Godz, I was playing around, I just had a feeling you wouldn't like it. :D I wasn't mad. In the past I was not good at accepting peoples opinions that I disagree with but I've gotten alot better at that.

Are you watching the Celtics tommorow night? Its opening night at the Garden and it should be electric...can't wait man.

Eminem-I'm Back. I used to give a ****, now I give a **** less, what do I think of success? Its sucks.....thats the line. Honestly it didn't bother me, if Jay-Z was the only rapper in the history of rap to use other rappers lines then it would. It would also bother me if Jay-Z was trying to pass that line off as his work, but hes not. Why? He knows that people know Eminem said that, its just borrowing a line because it works in the context of the song. Another way it would bother me is if every line he rapped was stolen but hes proven he can make great songs without using lines from others. I think Success was bangin...

Eminem bit from Rakim.

The best song on the album is Pray, really liked it.

Can't say I loved the rest of the album though. The beats are average/below average but the lyrics are like some **** out of Reasonable Doubt!

Truth, I've listened to it a few more times. I think it's better than Kingdom Come, but overall, not really pleased with it.

"Pray"-solid song, kind of boring beat. 3 of 5

"American Dreamin'"-This is nice. Sick beat, nice Marvin Gaye sample. Overall good song. 4.5 of 5

"Hello Brooklyn 2.0"-two words: absolutely terrible. The unrelenting deep bassline will make people blast it in their systems, because it overshadows the rest of the wack beat. 2 of 5

"No Hook"-decent song, another semi-boring beat, i can deal with it though. 3.5 of 5

"Roc Boys"-actually not liking this as much as when I first heard it, i like the "bullet wounds will stop your buffoonery" line though. 3 of 5

"Sweet"-not liking this much, doesnt stand out, not too bad though. 3 of 5

"I know"-decent conceptual song, I like the beat. I'm a sucker for the Neptunes' production sound. If it's not a neptunes beat, it damn sure sounds like it, and i like. 3.5 of 5

"Party Life"-sounds like Jay-Z's half assed attempt at making a UGK track. UGK over this beat would be better, by far. 2.5 of 5

"Ignorant ****"-solid song, i like the hook, I'm a fan of curse words 3.5 of 5

"Say Hello"-don't like this at all. another average beat, disappointing. Reminds me of 50 Cent's "As the world turns". 2 of 5

"Success"-Is that Russel Crowe's voice in the beginning? That accent is hilarious, anyway, this is the biggest disappointment of the album IMO. Lackluster verses, annoying beat. 2.5 of 5.

"Fallin'"-Terrible hook, crazy, CRAZY beat, more lackluster rhymes. I love the beat though. 3 of 5

"Blue Magic"-Hated it at first, kind of like it now. Another Neptunes beat? what song did Pharrell get that hook from? It rings a bell. 3.5 of 5

"American Gangster"-ok beat, tolerable song. 3 of 5.

Overall, I'd say it's a 3.5 of 5 at most. Worth checking out, not worth buying for me. That's a 2 album losing streak for Jay-Z, I've bought all of his other albums except for this and Kingdom Come. Favorite song on the album is probably "American Dreamin'". Love that beat.

Can anyone get me production credits for all of the songs?

This album to me is a 4/5. And Say Hello is one of the best beats Jay ever rapped over. And No Hook is one of the best Jay songs ever. The content is very strong.

My friend who is a big Jay-Z critic(huge hip hop head) thinks its a classic, I agree with him. If Kingdom Come got 4 mics and this is alot better(IMO), then this should get 5.

I have no choice but to disagree with you, however, the Celtics, if are still playing this well a month from now, are going to be a force. AG is better than I first thought after the first listen, but I've warmed up to it.

lol. Its ok Godz. But I will say that I'm not the only one calling it a classic, various websites and fans have said the same. Not that, that means I'm right, theres no right answer. Everybody has their own opinion. The only reason I'm saying that is to show that its not some insane thought on my part, others also have this opinion. But I respect your opinion Godzhand, your a real rap fan without question. Lets go Celtics!!! Man KG is a beast...

Kingdom Come was simply wack. Wasn't really thrilled with AG but it was better than that one.
