View Full Version : Coffee as a energy drink
King James III 10-25-2007, 11:28 PM There's hella research on da internet and in books about coffee being used in sports as a energy drink. Ive been training while using coffee for the longest and I can tell you that **** works. It gets u pumped, and gives u a sense that ur stronger than you are in the weightroom. Also it gives you mad energy...yea it has the same side effects as regular energy drinks, but its worth it. **** coffee is banned in the olympics..if you think im pulling this **** out my ass then google dat ****. Water

No sugar though. I drink coffee before many workouts and that stuff works. Ever try espresso?

lyrical 10-26-2007, 03:41 AM Not good for the heart
Salty 10-26-2007, 09:19 AM Yeah a guy who i work with used to take dexi's (ADD tablets) before a workout to get him to be able to lift more. Just because it helps you doesn't mean it's necessarily good for you. Like the above poster said it hurts your heart, i stay away from caffeine all together. Eat a banana an hour before training much better for you and provides longer lasting energy.
hemichromis 10-26-2007, 10:29 AM i use it before hitting the weight room sometimes
i dont think my hearts at risk as i have a 124/69 bp and a resting pulse of 40-45 which is apparently very healthy
phallus 10-27-2007, 02:17 AM i drank a lot of coffee once right before a run, it turned me into steve prefontaine, i ran down a basketball player who was about 5 inches taller than me

Coffee is not bad for your heart. The cream you put in coffee is bad for your heart. Black coffee is a powerful antioxidant -- on par with blueberries and pomegranate -- which means among other things that it helps you heal from the bruises and dents you get when sparring. It has zero calories. I often have a cup of black coffee before training.
Hard Dick 10-27-2007, 04:50 PM Coffee is the only thing that gets me going in the morning.
big paulie 10-28-2007, 01:29 PM id leave the coffee before training your heart rate goes up high enough without caffiene, i think its best to do a nice long session at a good pace than have a coffee b4 training, go hell for leather for 45 mins then burn out when the caffiene hit wears off
TheWolf 10-29-2007, 05:15 AM Even Ginseng is banned in the Olympics.
I feel coffee gave me energy at work, but when I'm training I already had a high heart rate.
The Olympics ban all substances still only rumored to give an advantage.
A.Jay 10-31-2007, 06:28 AM i have to take rittilan for adhd every morning its prescribed pbviously but does anyone know if this could have a bad effect on my body or effect my training

Ritalin is a stimulant used to help you focus and direct your attention span which, if you're ADHD, you typically lack. This will do absolutely nothing to your training in a negative effect and conversely, your training will not cause the medication to do anything funny. Do some research on Ritalin and ADHD for your own good. You actually benefit from having ADHD because having the hyper-active aspect actually provides you with more energy than those who don't have it.
El Dominicano 11-01-2007, 02:08 AM Guys try Monster Energy Drink that is also good. I will admit Coffee does give ALOT of energy but think about ur health.
Peder 11-01-2007, 08:05 AM Coffee is fine in the morning, giving you a lot of energy. Before a hard workout I wouldn't touch the stuff, as it drains your body for water much like alcohol. Dehydration and over performing can easily happen.
-Antonio- 11-03-2007, 06:52 PM During the Mayorga/Vargas countdown show, Mayorga was drinking some form of expresso during his training. He would just take a break from his workout, drink a shot, and go back to work. He said he does this all the time and it gives him the extra energy.
Golden-Gloves 11-04-2007, 12:34 AM Coffee is not bad for your heart. The cream you put in coffee is bad for your heart.
Caffiene is horrible for your heart, what are you talking about? Have you not seen the people dying on the news from consuming too many energy drinks? People are having heart attacks from it..
Caffiene restricts bloodflow, your red blood cells specificly and can decrease oxygen absorbtion, reducing your endurance, I would never recommend it before a workout.
King James III 11-06-2007, 12:58 AM i only drink it the days i weight lift....and thats only like 3 days out of the week....one cup straight black...
nedcmk1 11-06-2007, 08:45 AM Coffee dehydrates me
lyrical 11-06-2007, 09:09 AM Too much caffeine is bad for your heart
rambov 11-06-2007, 11:56 AM None of the negative effects of coffee have been proven. Well...it was at one time considered to be dangerous but they're saying good things bout it now..
Just try GAKIC
