Fat Shamz 10-21-2004, 10:45 PM Oh god i have this frend that LOVES that WWE crap, he came over my house the other day, i was watching some boxing and he changed it to wrestling...he wouldnt give it up, he says that boxing is a load of **** and that the fights are fixed...pffft, isnt it wrestling where the WHOLE fight is practised by the opponents and ****?
do any of you guys here like wrestling at all?
i absolutely hate it.....but then again, if there were no boxing i guess i too would like wrestling....but thats not my point, my point is that wrestling sucks and it is jus another soap opera...its time for wrestling to stop....i mean cmon, rick flair still fights...hes like 60 years old now, with saggy boobs and a few strands of hair on his head!
The Fix 10-21-2004, 11:04 PM i hate wrestling its a huge soap opera. in fact wrestling is worse than a soap because there is too many greased up dudes in tights hugging each other. although wrestling does have some very hot women
Fat Shamz 10-21-2004, 11:06 PM hot women that are pretty much 80% plastic...see! everything about wrestling is fake! how could the public allow wrestling to be what it is today!

Wrestling is a thriving industry with superstars. A no namer like Al Snow is a hell of a lot more recognized around the world more than Bernard Hopkins.
Wrestling is "entertainment". It's not a pure sport. To to compare boxing to wrestling is insane. On a strictly dollars and cents and popularity level, wrestling PPVs out do boxing any day of the week
abdiel2k3 10-21-2004, 11:26 PM i think back like couple years ago
b4 i was into boxing'
i was head over heels 4 wrestling
i knew it was fake
but its like watchin a movie live
when they get slammed threw tables outside hit with chairs jump off ladders
fake or not some that stuff was awsome and had to hurt
i remember me and my bro use to get our parents to order every major wrestlin ppv
thinkin back i cant beleive how much money we wasted and how many boxing ppvs we passed out
im sry more for my dad cuz he liked bzing always and since we got a wrestling ppv he wasnt able to get his boxing ones
but wrestling is still fun to watch from time to time
just for a laugh
it gets pretty ridiculous

Now that's entertainment!
Boxing can have its John Ruiz, Chris Turd, Has Been Rahman, the Klits, Lame Brewster and the rest of their crop of boring fighters.
neils7147933 10-22-2004, 08:41 AM Professional wrestling can be quite fun to watch. Unlike a boxing PPV, where all the fights could be no contests and suck, prescripted matches make sure you get your money's worth. If you don't it's the booker's fault, or the performers end up being disciplined through lack of pushes.
I got big into wrestling in like 1999. Five years later, there's not a lot of new stuff. It does get old when they continue to push the same guys with the same moves and the writing style is the same so that you can predict what will happen, swerves and all.
When NWA-TNA debuted I got a newfound hope with the X Division and such. There is a big difference between "sports entertainment" that is the WWE (aside from the occasional Benoit/Guerrero/Angle match they actually allow to be good for the pure fans) and, let's say, an X-Division spotfest involving Amazing Red/AJ Styles/Frankie Kazarian, or a deathmatch involving weapons a la Supreme/Sandman/New Jack, where guys are getting cut with fluorescent light bulbs and whacked with a cactus. And many Mexican and Japanese fans look on American wresting with disdain.
I now prefer boxing, but let's be honest - boxing often resembles wrestling with its lavish entrances, fixed outcomes, and zany personalities. And just like we can appreciate great boxing matches, we can appreciate great wrestling matches.
I defy any true fan of athletic contests where guys lay their bodies on the line to watch a Micky Ward/Arturo Gatti trilogy DVD and like it, but then turn up their noses at Jerry Lynn/Rob van Dam where the two guys did moves in the ring, on the concrete, in the crowd, for 30 minutes or Brock Lesnar/Kurt Angle where Angle wrestled with a broken neck and was so weak he winced at every move and had to have Lesnar spring up because he couldn't lift him; then Lesnar attempted a shooting star and suffered a concussion as a result. That night, both guys spent the night in the hospital just like Ward & Gatti.
I've watched RAW lately and have been pretty bored. I like to keep up on the new talent, but I'm waiting for a rebirth and a legitimate competitor to WWE to better the product. But I encourage anyone who sees ECW compilations in a sale bin at a video store to give them a chance.
puppy_dogg 10-22-2004, 09:16 AM i use to be a huge wrestling fan about 4-5 years ago, but one day i just stopped watching. i got tired of seeing the exact same thing happen every week. wrestlers put there lives on the line like boxers do cause some of the stunts they do are pretty dangerous. i prefer real combat now though.
neils7147933 10-22-2004, 09:23 AM UFC is fun to watch when the action's there; it's kind of like boxing, though. You don't always get a good show. Sometimes two guys are clenched against the cage for 2 minutes trying to get the upper hand.
Rick Reeno 10-22-2004, 09:27 AM I was a heavy fan back in the day. I used to get tapes imported from Japan and Mexico. All Japan and New Japan was the sh*t to watch. When ECW and WCW went under, I watched WWF for maybe a few more months and then stopped. It was just boring to only have one choice to turn to as far as watching, it got stale. I had hundreds of tapes, even some from the 70s and 80s, shoot interviews, etc. I had connections with most of the bigwigs in the federations due to plenty of articles I used to write for wrestling based newsletters. Every single person I know, except one, has stopped watching and everyone stopped around the same time....when WWF became to only fed to catch on free TV.

Have you seen any TNA? It got kind of old for me, too - but now they have the 5 sided ring and a free show on Fox Sports.
Still, there's been enough top X-division matches to warrant picking up the DVD if your local video rental place has it in stock...
puppy_dogg 10-22-2004, 09:38 AM the coolest tag team ever was "the rockers" with shawn michaels and marty jenity. i use to watch tapes of those guys in action and it was insane! the best rivalry in the sport had to be shawn michaels and brett "the hitman" heart. there best fight i believe was called the "iron man" match, it was when shawn michaels came down out of the celing on the zip line wearing his famous suit with all the little mirrors on it. this was late 80's or early 90's, i cant remember exactly. but cool stuff.
Rick Reeno 10-22-2004, 09:42 AM I havent watched TNA at all, I saw some of their guys on the indy circuit and I know Bob Ryder who owns a piece of the company. Too many ppvs killed wrestling. I remember when WWF and WCW went to one ppv a month. That was 24 ppvs a year, not to mention ECW had about 4 or 5. If you want to watch "awesome" wrestling. Watch older All Japan/New Japan tapes. Especially around 92-96, the J-Cup tourneys. Michinoku Pro tapes, ECW was great for an American fed.
Rick Reeno 10-22-2004, 09:43 AM Best tagteam I like was the Road Warriors. I loved them since their days in AWA.
puppy_dogg 10-22-2004, 09:43 AM wwf may have taken over all the other organizations back then but they got all the wcw wrestlers in the proccess. you had all the stars and names under one roof. me and my friends use to talk for hours about how we wish we could see certain guys fight that were from different organizations. it was like a bunch of dream fights come true when wwf took over, although i was'nt into that much anymore i would still check in on it cause most of my friends still worshiped it.
puppy_dogg 10-22-2004, 09:46 AM i remember the road warriors. hawk and animal if i remember correctly. i had a wrestlemania on tape of them kicking ass in the royal rumble, but the tapes got ****o on it now.
neils7147933 10-22-2004, 09:49 AM Dream fights are often best left to dreams.
Goldberg vs. Lesnar was one of the worst wrestling matches I have ever seen on a PPV. The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan was really the only one that lived up to the hype. The Invasion PPV was weak; Steiner vs. HHH and HHH vs. Nash were tough to sit through, as was Austin vs. Hall. The WWF/E killed Booker T and Dallas Page very quickly, botched the NWO return, brought in a gimpy Steiner, and let Goldberg pretty much call the shots, including pinning The Rock and Brock Lesnar while only having to job to HHH. I don't think he lost to anyone else his whole time in WWE, did he?
puppy_dogg 10-22-2004, 09:55 AM  i have no idea, your talkin all the new stuff now. i cant really keep up.
neils7147933 10-22-2004, 09:56 AM I havent watched TNA at all, I saw some of their guys on the indy circuit and I know Bob Ryder who owns a piece of the company. Too many ppvs killed wrestling. From what I read, TNA's on life support. It's gonna take a rich guy who doesn't care if he loses some money, maybe somebody with ties to a national TV channel, or at least someone who can sell to a national TV deal, to get any competitor to WWE. I tried to watch MLW when it was on; it was just hard to watch something taped once a month and follow it like it was a real fed.
Ted Turner has been rumored to be interested in starting another fed. He hasn't been allowed to due to a clause in an AOL/Time Warner contract. I believe that contract is about up. I'm not sure what Ted's actual status is now regarding TNT and TBS.
Right now, the ratings are pretty bad. If ratings were at the point they were in 1998, I bet a pay channel like Showtime Extreme or Encore Action might think about a show. Or if WWE was on TNN, USA Network might sign up a 3rd fed. But right now, wrestling is on the decline. John Cena and Randy Orton are bright young stars, but Undertaker and Ric Flair and so on are still sucking up airtime and the non-PPV wrestling matches are few and far between. There are two many squashes and run-ins that take a backseat to the bad skits and worse "drama" that fans have to sit through on Monday and Thursday nights.
ECW was awesome, though. I've got a few tapes but would like to add more. It's too bad Heyman couldn't pay his guys, even with Vince cutting him a few checks here and there to make up for the fact that he stole 'Attitude' from ECW and was signing up all his top talent.

I thought Goldberg had nude pics of Vince McMahon having a threeway with his daughter and the Rock. That had to be it. That guy got every concession you could imagine. Goldberg is a horrible wrestler. Great personality. Horrible mic skills.
Rock vs. Hogan was the most electric match I'd ever seen. Hogan still can't wrestler. But he knows how to the play to the crowd. And the Rock was masterful too. That's the only time I've been exahuasted from watching a wrestling match.
Why did the WWE sign Scott Stenier was baffling. The guy's a steriod freak who can't wrestle. He used to be a phenomenal wreslter. But he's a perfect case of juicing so much and getting so ripped and cut that he had no flexibility anymore and all those hip and back injuries. Rick Steiner was fun but he got fat.
WWE is on a huge down turn. They need to get back the Rock, Austin and revive Degneration X until this younger talent develops. Right now the business is getting stale
Mr. Ryan 10-22-2004, 03:58 PM I liked wrestling, when I was 11. My favorite wrestlers were IRS, The Undertaker, and Stone Cold Steve Austin.
