A young guy that used to work for me in my Army is posted in Cyprus. As its a UN posting he can go into both the Greek and Turkish sides of the Island.

A couple of days ago he went in the Turkish side of Nicosia and disappeared after going on the lash.
He was found yesterday after being repeatedly raped by by a gang of Turks and is now is hospital after attempting to get hold of his rifle and shoot himself.

****in gutted.

I'm supposed to be going to Marmaris next year, bollocks to that.

He's married, not that it makes a blind bit of difference.

I don't think he was drinking with them. I think he was just pissed up and wondered into Turkey then that happened.

They should change the term going "Greek" to going "Turk".

My missus has just spoken with his wife, apparently he went across with a large group of lads got pissed and wandered off. They searched for him throughout the night but couldn't find him.

Apparently it was in a carpet factory and involved around 10 men, many of which where at least 50 but he was raped by two of them.

Anyway, the Turks have tried to cover it up and have banned the soldiers from coming across for obvious reasons.

I can see some form of reprisals here in some way but they wont get near the offenders.

My mate is currently in the military hospital.

I will try to go and see him when he's back but its difficult, I doubt he will want to even acknowledge that its happened, I know I wouldn't.

****in hell...btw the guy went out with my sister and I'm godfather to his son so its a ****in sad day and part of me wants to get on a plane.

I used to work on a land rig in the 70's and there were many Turks on the rig. Generally there good guys but they do have tendancies towards men. Especially blond and blue eyed men (Like me)

I'm really sorry to hear that mate. Utterly disgusting. I feel for him and his family. I just hope that he can get over this and it don't hold him back or get him down for too long. I know what I'd like to do and I don't even know him. Don't know how I'd feel if it was a friend or member of the family.
