IT seems like every week i have a good week training is followed by a **** week training where im just tired out my head and it's ****ing me off. is it a good idea to get on a training program cause i never thought it would really work for me but if it will stop me going up and down like a yoyo i think it might be good

has anyone got any ideas or similiar experiences...... im still getting fit and i'm making good progress but it's just ****ing me off when my body just doesn't feel right

I train 2 days on 1 day off. Works well for me. I always feel ready to go again after my rest day.

mix it up
do weights one day
conditioning drills the next
heavy bag the next
then take a rest day

I never understood why some guys take boxing so damn serious.

If you have natural skill and athleticism...you'll see it, and you'll see it early. IF you have the true love for the sport...you shouldn't be on a forum asking silly questions like this anyways.

Just my two cents.

I agree with the "some don't have it statement" I mean, yeah, sure, I feel burnt out every once in a while.. But I get my ass up and spend 4 hours in the gym or search my heart to make sure that the fire is still there and burning strong. I don't come here and whine, looking for sympathy almost. I don't look for sympathy from even my trainers, only critiques. I don't whine about working at Burger King or **** or how I can't stick to a diet. I do. I don't talk about what I can't do.

I'm not trying to be a dick either. But I plan on MAKING it. AS A PRO. BOXER. 'nuff said. Read Smokin' Joe if you all need inspiration.. Don't look for it here. Look for HELPFUL HINTS here. That is what 'here' is here for! HINTS. Not the key to the car, the "secrets" or whatev.

So.. Lace 'em up and get back in there, ya bum.

i don't think your getting me i aint giving up thats for sure and i know i've got it in me. but that don't mean that my body aint gunna get tired does it. i think the stuff your talking about is more mental and a pain tolerence it doesn't mean when im tired i don't train i just don't train as much or as well and feel tired all the time

well i have to say thats pretty incredible on your part. i would like to know what you do in these 4 hours at the gym. u workout like this everyday? what does ur routine consist of, jus the gist of it?

i aint sayin u dont do it, im jus sayin i have been boxing for years and years and i have killer 2 - 2.5 hour workouts, so i cant imagine what a 4 hour workout would be like.

enlighten please....

monday and weds has been two seperate hour-long interval training classes each day (5 and 8). i've been coming in early the past two weeks, too. and staying in-between as well. i'll shadow box with a strap tied to my feet to work on my stance, jump rope, speed bag, spar sometimes now, or just shadow box infront of this big mirror or maybe do some diff. push-ups.

tues, thurs, fri are open days. i'll come in stretch out (obviously do that on mon and weds too), speed bag, shadow and jump rope to get warm. then i'll prob spar. then i'll hit the heavy bag for 5 rounds. more jump rope, shadow with the strap on my feet, speed bag.

i used to hit the heavy bag a lot. i've learned that rope, speed bag, etc.. are more important on open days because during the classes the focus is on throwing punches. never really on the other stuff (i mean we do a **** ton of pylos and jump rope for 2 rnds. to start but everyone half-asses that and ****, 2 rnds. isn't enough.. i need like 20 minutes a day, at least).

im there a lot.. i try and be smart about what i'm doing tho to make sure i don't over work myself.

I know the feeling youre having. Ive pretty much just started boxing this september and since the first week ive been feeling pretty drained nearly everyday but not really when im training. I always seem to have a kind of buzz or go into a trance where im just focused on training even if im tired, especially on sparring days my bloods always pumping.

Anyway because of my medical ive had to stop training for a week and a bit. After a week of not traiing i went out to do my usual road work and it felt like i could do another 5 miles (3 usually kills me) so i did some sprints at the end of my run. I would never have been able to do that before if i hadnt rested up my body.

Basically i think you need to listen to your body and give it a break if its asking you for one. Not for a week like i did that was only from doctors orders, just until you feel like you can go at it again.

Rest is one of the biggest parts of recovery and if you dont rest properly you wont be able to see the gains that youve been working hard for.
