Well I did my match, with new shoes.:lol1: I went in the first threw my jabs and got into the 6'1 or 6'2 guy.I got in fairly easy, then he started going away with flurry hooks. In which he missed practically all of them(video will show.)Then I got inside, and hit him to the midsection above the cup. Then he went to the corner with agonizing pain. The ref gave him an 8 count yet he told me to keep it up.(wtf?:lol1: ) I told the ref that it wasnt low(mistake number one) Although other ppl that saw it said it wasnt low.I think the ref was confused. Why would he give the guy an 8 count? Yet tell me to keep it high? Still in the first round,He's throwing hooks and 1-2s and missing. I get inside and hit him with an uppercut and drop him.Yet another 8 count. Then after that the same shit, him throwing and missing and me connecting with hooks.

The 2nd round was some what the same shit.I busted his nose open and the blood was visible out of his nose. He's getting tired, and holding my gloves, yet the ref tell ONLY me to stop wrestling.haha.(He also said stop pushing in the first in which I wasnt) Im hitting him with uppercuts and body shots and hurting him.

The 3rd sound is the same shit. I admit he hit me with a few solid shots when I was making my way in. Well we were clinched,(he's still rarely hitting me)then all of a sudden he stopped, and I didnt hear the ref so I swung. I got a point deducted for that.haha.

So in all alot of ppl thought I won. I had at least 10 ppl I never knew that went up to me to tell me I got robbed.I heard they booed when they heard the results, and didnt really clap for the other guy. Jesse, and alot of my gym and other gyms thought the same. They said what got me ****ed is me talking to the ref. Therefore the judges see that. It took them the longest to talley up the cards for us.So in all I think its bullshit, but Im not mad because I didnt feel as if I lost.

My style isnt for the amateurs,me and Jesse discussed that.I wasnt used to amateur fighting really. I wish I could of gotten more amateurs to spar with then pro fighters and pro style fighters. So what to do now? I have no clue.I can tell the amateur(you hit the other guy alot)might not work for me.Because it takes me some times to get in,while Im doing that he's scoring points,or swinging, not trying to let me in. So its actually a lose situation.Im going to discuss more of it with my trainer when I go back.

Oh my cheap ass new, soon to be returned after I upload the video, camcorder only recorded the first round then it ran out of memory some how.I bought it today, but that video should be up tomorrow.:) Like I said Im not pissed, because I know I won,and shit loads of other ppl thought so also.

You dont get extra points in the ams for dropping a guy do you? So two standing eights and you still lose. That's rough.

Yeah it was weird, but shit happens.Although I think I got hit at least 15 times the whole fight. He was just more active in throwing, although missing. Once I upload the only round I got on camera. You can see he only hit me maybe 5 times. While I dropped him once, and got a standing 8 all under 2minutes.

Yeah. It's all about scoring points in the am's. That's why the better punchers don't do as well. Yet another example is Naseem Hamed.

You have a more patient style that isn't about just using up all your energy in a 4 round points match. Just get those few W's and move on up. I'm actually real interested to see your progress if and when you do go pro.

One thing the amatures is teaching you or should be after all this is that you have to stay in the gym and train hard or else it will all be for nothing when you may have a chance to do somthing as a pro.

Don't look at this as a bad thing. Look at it as another learning experiance.

Roberto Duran i remember him saying he lost his first 3 pro fights. And Librado Andrade lost 13 out of 15 amature fights.

Im interested to see your video. I know that when a ref is ****ing with you, at the momment it seems like he is lecturing you forever, then you see the video and its only for a second. You just have to fight your fight, with in the rules. I've talked back to the ref in one fight and then was told it is a bad thing to do.

Just keep training.

And when you say there is nobody in the gym to sparr with then if you're serious and your work allows you too, then go to another gym to sparr with the better fighters. Then train at your gym untill you have to sparr again.

So many problems with the amatuer boxing system.

Electronic scoring systems don't register all the punches.

The system also doesn't take into account whether it was the laziest jab or a thunderous hook that puts a man to the ground for an 8 count.

The judges are often old and not quick enough to register everything - especially the fast action in front. So a landed 3 punch combination my only get counted as one punch.

They should score the match like a pro bout. On which fighter showed more skill, aggression, technique. Etc.

I spar alot of pros in my gym,and the other guy from my gym that was fighting that night also, also lost. We're used to fighting pro style at the gym.So it was a huge shocker for both of us.I the later rounds I tried going wild on the inside like an amateur style fight, but that shits hard when you gotta get by the 6'1 guys jab and all. Thats another thing.Ppl in the amateurs tend to be somewhat young. So they could be tall, but know grown fully in their body.Like Tommy Hearns in the amateurs,so its easy for them to make a low weight.

unlucky bro!

It's true that amateur boxing is a totally different game. You can absolutely murder someone but still lose, The best scoring punches are just simple jabs and the right cross. In 1-2 and out in 1-1-2 and out in 1-2-1-2 and out. That's what the judges like to see. That's what I've observed from novice amateur bouts. It changes as the level of competition rises such as nationals.

Like I said to that guy animail squabbs, it's good for you personally sparring with professionals and getting that experience but you need to really check out amateur bouts and videos because that's the level you're fighting at for the moment.

Anyways, good luck for the next bout bro.

On oct 27 Im not goin there to win IM going to get in a brawl, if I win it would just be a bonus.

aright thats cool i can respect that. but im sure u would rather win than lose, no? yea go in there and brawl and do wut u do, but be smart too. if u know ur the better fighter and can do things to throw the guy off his game, obviously ur gonna do it. do ur thing in there if thats brawl get in there and bang, but look for ways to win while doing it. i be fightin next sat too the 27th hopefully we will both win that night. good luck to u...

I'm sorry to hear that, man. Real talk. I'm sure you can get back on your shit, though- just grind a little harder this time. Don't give them a chance to put in on the scorecards. Absorb yourself a little more during traning.
What he said. I don't know what your perspective is 2 months on, but I wouldn't write yourself off on the ams too early, Vers. As you collect fights you'll find ways of adjusting and making your style gel a little better with the more nominal aspects of amateur boxing. You might not build a stellar record out of it, but you will learn more than that one frustrating experience has led you to believe.

Btw, you've been one of the better contributors to this forum in recent times. Good to see blunt self-assessment and practical encouragement of others delivered in a straightforward, unpretentious way. Keep on that path.
