Well heres the deal I be doing this boxing conditioning and training for two months now. I am now up to the point where I can train for three hours. And run 3 miles at night. Or ride my bike 10 miles. All my muscles are tight like im wearing a latex suit I have lost 12 pounds now im 168. And I have gained alot of muscle. I train on mon tue wed thur fri and sat and sun gym closed but i still do something. Maybe its time to let my body recover but how long should I take off? Im thinking about taking three 4 days of relaxing to let my body cath up is this good or bad?

listen to ur body man. i personally hate resting but have to because my body needs it from so much work that i put in. ur body will let u know when it needs rest. i workout monday-saturday and on sundays usually i need rest cuz my body feels deteriorated, so i rest. if i feel ok and good, i'll go to the gym. u gotta let ur body rest when it asks u for it, and u'll know when that is. if u feel good, and strong, and arent tired and gettin good workouts, why rest? u'll know when u need rest, and how much of it. but hey if u want some days off to jus kick it and shit and do wutever, aint no harm in that... jus dont get into a slum and get used to jus relaxin cuz after 4 days of no workin out, it gets harder to go back to that intensity level u were at before, ya feel?

Ive been training since september and did moderate training before that. Last sunday I failed my medical (cries) because my family has a long line of high blood pressure and the guy who exmined me wants a letter from my GP before he'll allow me to box. That meant i'd have a week from training, but on friday i decided to go for a run to see how far id fallen from not training.

I had so much energy it was stupid i had enough left in my tank to do two extra near top speed 100m sprints with no break on top of my normal 3-4 mile routine which would usually wear me out itself.

I think that goes to show how important rest and recovery is to any athlete. If your body wants rest, give it rest until youre no longer feeling fatigued. Before i took the four days off i was feeling drained and tired all the time, even if id had a good night sleep.
